I’ll make this short because I know so little about Thai politics.
Yesterday, Thailand declared a temporary state of emergency after clashes between pro-government protesters and anti-government protesters left 1 person dead and many others injured.
The Thai government wants to disperse the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), an anti-government group that has been protesting against the government for quite some time.
The PAD, comprising of Thais mostly from the South (Bangkok), wants to bring down the government to whom they see as corrupt.
On the other side, we have the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), comprising of people mostly from the poorer North. They want to maintain the current regime because they getting farming subsidies and other benefits from the government.
Reminds me of the US civil war, clashes between the north and south.
I don’t know what to make of the political turmoil in Thailand. I do feel distress about it.
To learn more, here is a google news result about the political problems in Thailand.
Also, if you want to know more, check out BBKdreamer’s blog. He’s a fellow Thai blogger who lives in Bangkok. I guess you can say he is in the zone.

And here comes the War. Can’t people and the government getting along? Is would be so much easier in the world.
wow.. DRAMA!!! hope it all gets resolved!
