Silamanee: EP 5 Caps

I do like Silamanee a lot!
Pra’ek is goofy.
Nang’ek is unyielding, not a damsel in distress like most nang’eks. Yipee for that!
The main villain, pra’ek’s mother is not that vicious. She might be a greedy, pompous donkey but she hasn’t done anything overly crazy. I don’t hate her.
Silamanee is pretty good so far. You should watch.

Pharot visits Mae Liang at her silk fabric shop.

She plays him a melody on her Thai harp.

Mae Liang:“The sound of music can help ease stress.”

When she stops, she asked:“Are you feeling better now?”

Pharot:”It has decreased…every time that I’m with you, I always feel a sense of ease.”

He notices her ring finger. She is not wearing the ring anymore.

Mae Liang:‘When time changes, attachments also changes with it.”

After her speech, Pharot stands up and makes his intentions for her known.

“Aye…since attachments (relationships) can change, your rule of not dining out with men, can that change also?”

She doesn’t answer his question and even avoids it.

“I’m sorry, I’ve lost track of time, I have another task to take care of. Can you excuse me..”

Pharot:“No that is fine, but next time that I come and see you, I hope you will not mind.”

She doesn’t answer him and walks off.

When Pharot leaves, Mae Liang slanders Pharot’s character in front of her 2 lady servants.

Mae Liang:“It is as we thought, Pharot Rachasena is a man who is easily lured by the outer appearances. It has not been too long and already he is coming to see like a ? (did she say Dog) to a campfire.”

Humnuan (older servant lady):” My goodness, isn’t it very strange? When he talks about Nam Saengluang, he says she is bad this, bad that. Still, he comes and visits you like his heart is luring him to the person who he is thinking of.”–She is saying that though he speaks badly of Nam, Nam probably intrigues him that is why he comes and visit “Mae Liang”, a person very similar to Nam.

Younger servant girl:“Does he even notice the similarities? He is probably only allured by Mae Liang.”

In a way her servants comments annoyed her and Nam/Mae Liang told them to be quiet.

“Lets just say that guy Pharot Rachasena is like all men, who is easily allured by the outer appearances. If Nam Saengluang would ever yield to him, give in to him like Mae Liang, I think he would react more cordially, but I will never yield to him. I refuse to let that happen.”

Humnuan:“Little mistress, we have reach this point with Pharot, what is our next plan?”

Mae Liang:“We will slowly teach him about the grudge of Chiangrath when it has been betrayed.” —DAMN! She is not playing around!

Sid and her father the General talk about Nam.

Sid:”Father…Khun Athiti has a daughter, right? I have seen her come her once.”

Her father is a little perplexed by the questions.

“Why all of the sudden you bring this up?”

Sid:“I think I saw her again that’s why I’m bringing this up.”

The General, then has a flashback of when he saw Nam at Khun Ying Samerjai’s birthday party.

“Sweetheart, you are thinking of that girl we saw at Khun Ying Samerjai’s birthday party, right?”

Sid:“Yes, that is correct. She looks familiar to you too, right father? The girl named Nam Saengluang.”

The General doesn’t think so because though she does look like Khun Athiti’s daughter, it just can’t be.

Sid wants to know why not.

Her father tells her, “because their presence is very different. Khun Athiti’s daughter is not like….lets just say that girl is very different from Khun Athiti’s daughter, very different to the point where they can’t be the same person.”

Sid:”Father, are you sure?”

The General:“Susie, the thing is this. In regards to Khun Athiti’s daughter, I promised not to interfere. And if Khun Athiti doesn’t mention it, don’t bring it up to make her sad.”

Sid:“I understand. I just felt that two people who are mother and daughter when they are not together, they must miss each other greatly.”

–awwww…Sid is sweet. She wants to reunite Khun Ying Athiti and Nam because she could understand how they miss each other.

Chalee and his mother fighting again about Nam. What’s new?

Pharot had to break them up, AGAIN.

When Chalee leaves, Pharot excuses himself to his father’s office.

As he is looking around he finds something odd between the pages of an old book, a picture of his father and Nam’s father.

He is intrigue.

Pharot tracks down one of his father’s friends to learn more about the picture.

He shows him the picture.

His father’s friend tells him that the man his father is standing next to is King Saengluang Na from the country of Chiangrath. The friend also mentioned that King Saengluang liked and respected his father a lot.

Ding! Pharot begins to have an inkling that his mother lied to him about “Silamanee” and Nam was telling the truth. He is shocked.

Sid and Chalee find internship at the same company. Sid is super happy because she can be around Chalee more often. Chalee could care less.

Sid:“I can’t believe we’re working at the same company.”

Chalee:“I’ve tried the other companies but it was all filled out. It was only this art company that was open. (looks at down at her feet) Oh, how is your feet?”

–remember she hurt her foot at his mother’s birthday party.

Sid:“thank you for remembering.”

Chalee:“It’s nothing.”

Sid:“You were late earlier, do you think it’s okay? I’m not lecturing you. When you are applying for work, you need to upgrade your ways.”

Chalee:“Well….I went to see for Nam at the university before I came here that is why was late. But sadly, she had already gone to class so I was not able to talk to her.”

Sid:“Chalee, the thing with Nam..I don’t think…”

He interrupts her.

“I was concern. At my house, we are divided because of the issue with Nam. Now, Nam doesn’t even have enough time to see me. I don’t know whether she is thinking too much about our situation. If she is avoiding me and refusing to see me, I don’t think I can endure it.”

After hearing that, Sid tries to walk away because who wants to hear a guy you like talk about another girl . He stupidly stopped her and asked, “Did you want to tell me something about Nam?”

She acts cool and lies to him.

“NO, there is nothing. I just wanted to tell you that she is very beautiful, just that.”

To learn more about Chiangrathian culture, Pharot visits Nam at the university.

In order to get her attention, he steals her report that she was working on.

‘”Give it back to me!”

Pharot flips through it. “OH wow, it even got high points from the professor. So that is why they call you a scholarship student.”

Nam is not please and demanded her report back.

“Give it back to me. I don’t have time unlike you who doesn’t have work and can spends his hours traveling around looking for people to harass.”

Pharot:”Hey, hold up, you said I don’t have work. I do have a job, but my job is spent mostly sitting down. I have workers.”

Nam:“I really don’t want to hear or know this. I just want my report back.”

Pharot waves the report in her face to taunt her and requested one thing.

“I can return it, but you have to tell everything you know about Chiangrath.”

Nam is annoyed:”Why do you keep harassing me? Why when you want to know something about Chiangrath, you have to come to me?”

“Because if I wanted to know something ordinary, I wouldn’t have come and bothered you. However, there are certain olden traditions that I want to know about that a Chiangrathian would know more about than an outside researcher.” He explained to her.

Nam still refuses to go anywhere with him and tired to snatch her report back, but he was too quick for her.

——->Conversation at the restaurant.

Since she can’t win, Nam gaves in and goes with him.

Pharot takes her to a restaurant. He wants to know more about Chiangrathian engagement practices. Nam explains to him there are 2 types of engagement.

1. a regular engagement, two people fall in love and their elders approve. The bride pays the dowry for the groom.

2. an arranged engagement, if the elders of the bride thinks that a family with a son heir is special, they can do an arrange marriage for their young children. It’s an agreement between the elders and the children learn about it much later in life.

When he hears this, Pharot finds it archaic. He can’t believe that in this day in age, people still do that.

“Marriage is an important issue between 2 people. They need time to get to know each other. It doesn’t matter if the elders respect each other, they shouldn’t repay each other respects like this.”

Nam:“You’re acting personally arouse by this issue, it is like your mother’s necklace is Silamanee “

Pharot:“I will never believe that my mother’s necklace is Silamanee, an engagement item from Chiangrath, I will only accept it when I have more proof.”

Nam:“I told you already that an item like that, no one will have it has an heirloom other than Chiangrath.”

They argued some more and Nam refused to disclose anymore information to Pharot. She feared that if he knew the truth, he would use the Silamanee to claim her or control her.

“This is all I know.” She tells him.

He doesn’t believe her.

“Then, I guess I will have to keep your report as hostage.”

Name is furious and stands up. She tries to get her report back, but again he is too fast for her.

Pharot:“So what now? Are you going to tell me or not?”

Annoyed, she walks away.

He chases after her. Then Nam starts having stomach cramps. She tells him she has a stomach problem. If he wants to keep her report, he can keep it because she can always write a new one she tells him.

He feels bad about the situation and apologizes. He offers to take her back to the campus.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know. And I brought you here and you probably didn’t even eat yet. Okay then, I’m sorry. I will take responsibility. I will take you back.”

They take off.

Older brother Saibordee is worried about Nam. It’s getting late and she missed her curfew. He is deeply concern.

Back with Chalee and Susie at their job…

The interns are assigned a task by the company’s worker coordinator.

Once the work coordinator guy leaves, Chalee announces to everyone he has an appointed to go to.

Susie is stunned and disappointed.

“Chalee, if it is not urgent, can’t you reschedule? I have a thing that I need your advice on. “ She asked him.

Chalee:“But I want to go see Nam, she must be on campus. If I go now, I can catch her.”

—Chalee is getting on my last nerves. He doesn’t understand priorities and is way way way too obsessed with Nam. Lately his whole vocabulary is NAM that, NAM this. Dude is crazy.

One of the girls in their group interrupted them.

“Nam, who is this Nam you’re talking about.”

Her friend besides her told her: “Oh you know her, Nam Saengluang. The girl we saw with Chalee’s brother.”

The girls look at Susie and asked, “Hey Susie, weren’t you the one who identified her as Nam Saengluang and the guy she was with was Khun Pharot, Chalee’s brother.”

Chalee is stunned and asked the girls: “What, P’Pharot picked up Nam?”

One of the girls:“Yes that’s correct, we asked Sid why Nam is pleased with so many guys, but Sid explained that he was your brother.”

Chalee looks at Susie for an explanation and yelled at her.

“Sid, what are your friends talking about? How can Nam go with P’Pharot? Why would they go together? Your eyesight must be mistaken? It’s not true, right?”

All that Sid could do was nod “yes” that she saw them together.

“That can’t be right. There must be some sort of misunderstanding.” Chalee shouted at the girls before he walked off. Chalee has some serious issues.

Instead of taking Nam straight back the campus, Pharot takes her to another restaurant. He orders a lot of food for her.

She yells at him.

“Why did you order so much?”

“What? I did something wrong again? Well, I asked you what you wanted to eat but you refused to answer me, so I ordered everything. “ He comically told her.

Pharot started going around to each dish and pointing out their nutrient values.

Fish is very good— protein level high, but low fat level.

She told him to cut it off and said, “I can eat anything.”

“No you can’t think that way. Look at the dishes I have ordered. They are soups and something you can easily digest, just for people with stomach problems.” He corrected her.

After several instructions on how to eat, he watches her take her first bite.

“UMMM…that so cute.” He tells her. She gives him a dirty look back. HAHA>

After lunch, Pharot takes her back the campus. Chalee sees them together and develops a misunderstanding.

When Nam goes home, older brother Saibordee wants to give her a good lecture about being late and going to places with Pharot. Nam wasn’t having it.

1. She yells at Saibrodee for ordering old driver guy to follow her around secretly

2. She doesn’t care about his feelings. She is doing it for Chiangrath and he has no right to order her around.

Because she is a princess and a higher ranked than him, Saibordee can’t object to her demands.

Privately in her room, Nam expresses remorse about the harsh things she said to Saibordee.

“Oh Saibordee, I know you are concern, but I must do this for Chiangrath.”

Pharot meets up with his long time friend and tells him about his situaton. Though he would never admit it to Nam, he knows that the Silamanee is actually an engagement from Chiangrath and he has a betrothed somewhere in this world.

His friend makes fun of him.

“OH HO, when is our pra’ek is going to become a prince.”

Pharot:“NO! Just a betrothed….just the elders making the agreements and I didn’t know about it.”

His friend laughs at him: “Really!”

Pharot:“Don’t laugh at me. Why are you finding enjoyment in a friend’s misery?”

“Well yes, I’m finding in enjoyment in this. Your issue is really bizarre.”

Pharot:“That’s correct. I’ve never thought that something this crazy would ever happen to me.”

His friend laughs at him some more and taunts him.

“OH your highness, what will you do next?”

Pharot slams his fist on the table in reaction to the taunt.

“I was just playing.” His friend tells him.

His friend then asked whether he will ever go check out his betrothed. Pharot tells him he will never do that because he is a man who refuses to be force into marriage. He believes in love.

Depressed about Nam, Chalee goes drinking.

Susie calls him to talk about the work project and all the Chalee can talk about is Nam.

“Today, I’m no longer blind. Sid, what did I do wrong? What’s wrong with me? “

Susie is confused and asked:“Chalee where are you and what happened?”

“I was good to her in every way.” He continued with his sob sorry.

Worried about his emotional well-being, she asked where he was.

Susie goes to see him at the pub. She advises him to go home.

He refuses.

“I’m not going home. I don’t want to see Pharot. How can they be together? I don’t understand. Why was Pharot with Nam? Is there anything else I don’t know about? Sid, do you know when I see them together, I feel pain…a pain in my chest until I can’t breathe. Do you even understand what I’m feeling? ”

—-Awww! Sid looks away because she know exactly how Chalee feels. Remember, she secretly loves Chalee and the sight of him with Nam probably kills her every time.

Sid sighs and tells him,

“If you are in pain, you need to go see Nam and clear the issue. To act this way, it won’t help.”

Sid approaches him and tries to drag him out.

“Chalee, please lets go home.”-She demanded of him.

But he refuses and replied back, “No, I won’t go.”

Because she wouldn’t let go of him, he accidentally pushed her. She slams into a table near by.

Sid picks up a glass filled with water or alcohol and throws it at Chalee.

“Listen to me Chalee! If I was Nam and had a man who chased me around….told me he loved me…told me I was the most important person…but then when a problem arises, he acts like a coward…I would leave you too Chalee.”

After giving him the lecture, she walked out. He chased after her.

Outside the pub, he apologizes to her.

Chalee:“I’m truly sorry. I didn’t mean to do that. I was too aggressive. Are you okay? I know that you wish me well. Everything you said was right. I told her that I cared about her, but I’ve never asked her. I suspected things. I’m really a weakling. From now on, I will never do that again. I will be strong for the person I love.”

He walks over to Sid and takes her hand. “Sid, you have brought me to my senses.”

He agrees to leave the pub, but he won’t go home. He will sleep at a friends house tonight.

Before they part, he thanks her again for the advice.

She watches him leave sorrowfully.

Alone in her room, Sid cries. AWWWWW!!! DUDE, I wanted to cry with her too.

I been a Sid a few times in my life, I can sympathize on how she is feeling.

Pharot visits Nam on campus again, he wants to know more about Silamanee.

Nam:“You must be forgetful. Before, I told you will be the last time I will answer your question.”

Pharot:”Well you have to answer me right now . How can your country keep such a crazy tradition. What if the people who are betrothed do not like it, what will happen?”

Nam:How dare you insult my county’s traditions.”

Pharot:“Is it not the truth? This is the new century, you can’t force people who don’t share feelings.”

She tries to walk away from him and he grabs her hand. Chalee sees them and intervenes.

Nam tells Chalee to stop.

Chalee:“Why are you defending him?”
Nam:”I’m not defending him. I’m more concern about you. I don’t want you to have an issue.”

Chalee:Can’t you hear how he is talking to you? He is coercing you.

Nam:“No, he is not. He is just here to ask about Silamanee or do you think it’s something else. You know very well that if it’s not dire, I would not go with Khun Pharot ever.”

OUCh! Pharot remain quiet and hurt by her words.

Chalee:“P’Pharot, why do you want to know about Chiangrath?”

Pharot:”Whatever issue that is, you don’t need to be concern over it. I also want you to know that other than the topic of Chiangrath, I really don’t want to deal with your friend.”

After that speech, Pharot walks away. As he is walking away, her hateful words echo in his mind.

Nam and Chalee sorta reconciling. He was doing all the talking while she listened.

“Lets agree to stay together.”

“I will never suspect anything of you again”

Khun Ying Athiti recruits her husband, the General to help find Nam.

Pharot confronts his mother about Silamanee.

She denies everything at first.

Pharot argues that though his father was a major political figure, he couldn’t have afford something like Silamanee.

Once his mother admits the truth, Pharot suggest returning the Silamanee jewel set to Chiangrath.

His mother refuses. Though she doesn’t want Pharot to marry the Princess, she intends to make eldest brother Pope marry her.

Pope is adopted and Pharot is her biological son.

Pharot is stunned by her intentions.

He argued that Pope has Isaree to think about.

Pope who had just came home hears the whole conversation and is deeply distress. He quickly leaves the house.

After their argument, mother and son race to contact Pope first.

Khun Ying Samerjai calls Pope several time.

Pharot can’t reach him by phone, he goes to the hospital to look for Pope.

Pope wants to tell his brother not to follow their mother’s instructions.

Concerned about Pope’s weird behavior at work and his disappearance from work, Isaree makes a visit to the Rachasena estate.

Khun Ying Samerjai shatters Isaree heart by telling her that Pope already has a betrothed. She was really brutal about it.

Devastated Israee stumbles to the garden area where Pharot was hanging out.

“Is it true that Pope has a fiancee?” She asked Pharot.

“No. Who told you, there must be a misunderstanding.” Pharot tells her and leaves.

After Pharot leaves, Pope finds Isaree alone and crying.

She walks up to him and asked,

“Tell me it’s not true. Tell me you are not engage. Tell me you want have an explanation.WE were going to start a family together! Tell me that thing that I just heard is not true. How comes you are not talking. Why are you silent?”

Pharot goes to his mother and confronts her about Isaree.

“Mom, why are you doing this? Why did you tell Isaree that?”

Pharot doesn’t want Pope to exchange responsibility with him. He is the eldest heir to the Rachasena bloodline and this is his responsibility.

His mother sees otherwise.

“I don’t care who responsibility this is, it’s for me and Pope to decide.”

Pharot:“Mom, I know you will not let Pope decide, you will decide for him.”

Pharot walks off and his mother follows him.

Khun Ying Athiti finally tracks down Nam. She watches Nam proudly as Nam gives a speech in one of her classes.

By the end of Episode 5, estranged mother and daughter see each other again.
