My god, this is a really good lakorn! To my surprise, I didn’t think I would like it this much. It’s not your typical lakorn where the leading characters are running around fighting each other over wealth or having crazy misunderstandings about nothing. Nang’ek is not innocent and (or) feeble, rather she is strong-minded and determined young woman. Most importantly, Pra’ek isn’t stupid nor is he unreasonable. He is a regular guy trying to keep peace between his brother and mother.
I love the fact that there is no nang’rai screaming and hollering for pra’ek’s attention or trying to rape him to make him take “responsibility”. You know what I’m talking about, the ‘marriage’ responsibility.
The villain of this lakorn isn’t a person, it’s pride and national identity.
Khun Ying Samerjai (pra’ek’s mother) will never accept Saengfarng as a daughter-in-law because she is a Chiangrathian, a group of people who in her eyes are beneath Thai people. Though Saengfarng is a wealthy princess, Khun Ying Samerjai mentioned today that she would feel embarrassed to tell her Thai society friends that her daughter-in-law is a northerner. Also, she thinks that all northern woman are “easy”, an unfounded stereotype.
Likewise, Saengfarng has prejudice for Thai people. She finds them to be an untrustworthy bunch and their men to be too “loose”. HAHA. As she stated in today’s episode, she will never “soften up” for this group of people.
If you’re not watching, you should watch this lakorn. It’s good.

At the start of Episode 3, we got younger brother Chalee fighting with second oldest brother Pharot about Nam.
Chalee warns him to stay away from Nam or do anything to her.
Pharot tells him
“I don’t do harm to innocent people.”
Pharot gives his younger brother Chalee a good stare and walks away.

Nam has a brother! A cute little brother too.
Nam is sitting at home thinking about the time she went over to her mother’s house and meeting her little brother for the first time.
Meeting her little brother probably deepened her abandonment issues about her mother. She probably feels resentful that her mother left and quickly remarried and gave birth to a son.

Khun Ying Athiti, Nam’s mother does care about her.
As she is reading a story to her son Nop, she thinks about Nam and whether they can mend their relationship.

Khun Ying Athiti chatting with Susie, her stepdaughter.
She lectures Susie about being more responsible because she can’t keep covering for her. Her husband, Susie’s father has even become angry with her for spoiling Susie too much.
Susie tells her cheerfully she will try and thanked Khun Ying Athiti for helping her out.
When Susie leaves, Khun Ying Athiti utters longingly:
“Mother thinks of you, will there ever be a day when you and I can talk to each other civilly.”
She is referring to Nam. In place of Nam, Susie has become her replacement daughter. She overly spoils Susie because she feels guilty about her situation with Nam. In a way with Susie, she is overcompensating as a mother.

The next day Khun Ying Samerjai invites Khun Ying Athiti and Susie for lunch.
Khun Ying Samerjai sees Susie as a potential daughter-in-law because she comes from a prominent military background, running the country.

When Khun Ying Athiti and Susie leaves, she boost to her older sons that this is a type of woman they should strive for. A good background, wealthy, beautiful, kind-hearted, and definitely not like that Nam girl.
In her eyes, Nam is ugly, too prideful, and doesn’t know how to respect her elders.
She warns and jokingly tells her older sons, “Don’t bring that type of woman into this house.”

Chalee overhears her and defends Nam.
“MOM, you have every right to praise Susie, but you have no right to slander Nam.”
His mother turns around and is stunned. “Chalee, what did you say a second ago, did you just say I didn’t have a right?”
Chalee:“Yes, you don’t have the right because you don’t even know Nam. Everyone here does not know Nam, you only see her outer appearances. You see that she is poor and from a lower background…and already mom, you are insulting her.”
Khun Ying Samerjai fights back with:“Aw! There is no way. That girl with no background who comes to our house, she doesn’t have to do anything and I can already see what she scheming for.”
Chalee is hurt by her insinuation and shrieks “MOM!”
Khun Ying Samerjai:“What? She has seen everything that you have and if she doesn’t want anything of yours, just kick me.” —Damn, mom is pissed and came out with some fighting words.
Chalee continued to defend Nam.
“I know her well, I know what type of person she is. If you, mom, ever say anything else about her…”
Khun Ying Samerjai interrupts him:“What are you going to do about it?”
Pope and Pharot tried to calm the two down.
Chalee continued to insult everyone.
“You guys only take notice of her outer appearance.”
Khun Ying Samerjai corrects him.
“And you don’t. You are blinded by her beauty, one day you will be sorry.”
After that, Chalee runs off and his mother shouts at him
“Chalee, Fine. Just go. GO! I will say it, I will say what’s on my mind. You’re stupid! You’re stupid.”
Pharot tells his mother to calm down.
And his mother tells him,
“I’ve raised him for 20 years and then he tells me I don’t have the right? Just that girl with no background came in not even a day and he dares argue with me. “

After their mother went off to bed and Chalee locking himself in his room, the two older brothers discuss the issue.
Pope thinks that Chalee was too hot-heated and their mother too harsh.
Pharot doesn’t think so, he thinks his mother has every right to be harsh and invasive about Chalee’s relationship with Nam. He finds Nam very strange like she is hiding something.
Pope begs to deter, he thinks that Pharot and their mother are too harsh on Chalee and Nam’s relationship.
“Brother, I think you see the world to beautifully. A woman who is that secretive. For sure, she must have something hiding we wont’ like.” Pharot argues.
“Then how are you going to find out this secret she is hiding?” Pope asked Pharot.
“At this point, I don’t know. But there must be a technique.” Pharot answers him.
Then, their conversation is interrupted by a phone call from Pharot’s friend.

This is Pharot’s friend, Suk. He is a high military personnel.
Suk invites Pharot out for lunch to discuss a girl he knows.
Suk tells Pharot, this girl is more important than all the other girls in this world.
Pharot wants to see her and Suk takes him to her fabric shop.
Before entering, Suk gets a phone call from his boss and Pharot is forced to go in first alone.

Lookie Lookie, who does he see?
Mae Liang or Nam or Jao Ying Saengfarng? Trick question, it’s the same person. HAHA. I know I can be lame sometimes. LOL.

His friend comes in and asked to see Mae Liang and the shop girls tell him she is not available.
When they are outside, Pharot tells his friend “I want to try something.”

Pharot goes back in and sees Nam from the back talking to the shop girls.
“Nam?” He calls out to her.
She slowly turns around and seductively said “hello” to him.
He becomes a little transfixed and stuttered, “Nam, you’re very beautiful.”
{Language lesson: Khun Nam meaning Miss Nam in thai sounds very similar to “you’re beautiful.” If you don’t speak Thai well, the sounds can be easily mixed. Nam and the thai word for “beautiful” sounds very similar. }
She laughs and asked, “You’re beautiful, what do you mean by that? Did you just say I was beautiful?”
“No, I didn’t mean that, is your name….” He somewhat corrected himself.
“No, you can call me Mae Liang. Everyone calls me that.”

He apologized to her and tells her she looks like a person he knows. The person goes by the name of Nam Saengluang.
He then asked whether he knows her.
Seductively, she slowly approached him.
“I’m sorry, I have never heard or seen that person going by that name. (At this point, she is really close to him) It’s a pity, I thought you said I was beautiful. “
And all he could say is “ERR….I’m…”
HAHA.
Then Suk comes in. “Mae Liang krub, I’m so happy to see you, because a moment ago Mae Nuan said you out.”

Pharot lies and tells Mae Liang that he is here to buy fabric for his mother.
She praised him.
“You’re a really good son, I’ve never met a man who is here to buy fabric for his mother.”
Then, Pharot cracked a joke that even I don’t understand and the two men starting laughing loudly. Mae Liang didn’t understand the joke either and looked down. HAHA. Someone needs to explain to me the joke because I don’t understand it.
After that, Mae Liang gives her advise about which fabric to buy for his mother.
“As for your mother Khun Pharot, I think she might like something that is one of a kind.”
Pharot is surprised and asked, “How did you know? That is exactly how she is, just like you said.”
Mae Liang:“It might be because of my merchant and seller trait.”

Then Pharot notices something, Mae Liang is wearing a ring on her left hand ring finger, meaning she is engaged or married.
He alerts his friend.
His friend tells him,
“Women these days they like to wear rings on that finger for fashion, they probably don’t think much about it. It has no meaning. As for that reason, Khun Pharot , stop talking about the old-fashion ways. “

For this case, Pharot doesn’t think it’s like that and asked,
“The thing I want to know is who is that lucky man? “
She gives him a “YOU NOSY BASTARD” look and changes the subject.
She lifts the turquoise colored fabric to his face and tells him: “This turquoise colored fabric will be most suited for your mother. Have you two men forgotten that you are here to buy fabric?”

His friend Suk complains that Mae Liang already has a lover and Pharot feels confuse.
Pharot: “There is no way that two people can look that similar.”

That night Nam and her servants discuss the day’s event.
Her younger servant asked, “Why do you wear a ring like you’re already married”
Mae Nuan (older servant lady) slaps her on the arm, “It’s a good thing she wears on that finger, it will make the playboys cautious and not want to oppress her.”
Nam corrects her, “Maybe they might think in reverse. A married woman is even better, you can have a relationship without taking responsibility.”
Younger servant:“Are they really that bad?”
Nam:‘That is not the least of it. Those people, I’ve never trusted them. Even the possession of other people’s, they take it without thought. Aunt Humnuan, don’t worry, even if these men come and pursue me, I will never soften up. I will use this identity to deceive and later make fun of them.”
Those people=Thai people

After the fight with his mother, Chalee has been hiding out at the school’s Art Studio.
Nam comes to visit him after not making connect for several days.
He is ecstatic to see her.

Nam notices his things and realizes that he hasn’t gone home yet.
Chalee falls sick.

Back at the house, Khun Ying Samerjai is worried about Chalee and waits for him.
The elderly servant lady finally convinces her to go to bed. She will alert her when Chalee comes home.
Pharot seeing his mother in distress tells the elderly servant lady he will go looking for Chalee.

Nam calls her servant lady that she is with Chalee and will go home by herself.
Her servant lady Nuan does not permit it and tells her older brother Saibordee will pick her up no matter what.

Nam cares for Chalee for several hours and even falls asleep herself.
When he wakes up and sees her, he is very touch.

Pharot interrupts their tender moment and shouts,
“I’m sorry to interrupt, I was so worried about you. It so late and my little brother never came home. I didn’t know what happened to you. But really, you were just here with a girl playing “Sweet” and didn’t want go home.”
Chalee defended Nam:“Don’t you ever talk to her like that. She was helping me.”
“Helping? Helping till this late. If I didn’t arrive, she’ll probably help you until the morning.” Pharot shouts back at him. –He is hinting, they would probably get it on with he didn’t interrupt them.
After Chalee lunge forward to give Pharot a good punch in the face, but sadly Nam held him back.

Nam calmed him down and encouraged him to go back home.
Pharot apologized after noticing that Chalee was sick.
In the end, everyone cooled down and decided to go home.
Nam wanted to go home by herself but the two men refused to let her do that.
Chalee argued it was too late at night for her to go home alone. Pharot agrees.

Nam is nervous getting into Pharot’s car.
1. She doesn’t want to show them where she lives.
2. Her brother Saibordee is already there to pick her up.
Before getting into the car, she signals to her brother to follow.

Nam directs Pharot to a random house and waits for her brother to come pick her up.

When they get home Saibordee is not pleased and scolds her.
“I don’t feel easy about this, the Rachasena men are becoming very intrusive in your life.”
Nam plays “baby sister” and tries to soften him up.
“Brother, you have it wrong. They are not becoming too intrusive in my life, I am intrusive in their life for Silamanee.”
Saibordee: “I don’t care, they are causing problems in your life.”
Nam in a very innocent tone
“Don’t worry brother. I will take care of it. I will endure for our country. When I’m done settling this and bring Silamanee back to our country. I will head back home and build Chiangruk to its glory.”
She “Jao Jaos” him. “Can’t you trust your little sister? I will be more careful. Na.Na.”
He is hesitant. “I can’t really trust you. (Sighs) Then, just be more careful.”
She knows she won and says a simple quiet “jao” back.

Chalee is home now.
During lunch, he gets into another argument with his mother.
Of course the argument is about NAM.
Chalee leaves the table without eating and heads back to his room.

Elderly servant lady advises him to be more respectful to his mother. He doesn’t want to hear it and rudely tells her to get out.
Before she leaves she utters, “Oh why do you have to be like this, just when your mother’s birthday is coming up.”
“Birthday?” he asked her back.
This gives Chalee a great idea. He will invite Nam to his mother’s birthday bash to show her how serious he is about Nam.

Pharot wants to know more about Nam so he makes a visit to her “house.”
He learns it is not Nam’s house. She lied. He is stunned and asked himself: “Why would she lie about her house?”

This part is pretty funny. Pharot decides to follow her. She notices him when he bumps into a girl carrying a lot of bags. She turns around and sees that he is following her. She tried to ditch him by quickly getting on bus at the last minute.

He takes a motorcycle taxi and catches the bus at the next stop.
On the bus, Pharot interrogates her about lying about where she lived.
Nam lies and told him she was embarrassed to show him her house because she is poor.
He assured her that he is not like that. He respects everyone, Poor or Rich. He asked to see her house. She ignores him.

She gets off the bus and he follows her.
She looks back and asked, “Why are you following me I’m not giving you permission to come to my house.”
His response:“This is public street, I can walk here too.”
Fine if he is doing that, so she orders him to walk ahead of her. When he is not looking, she waves down a taxi and gets in.

Again, Nam is getting lectured by her older brother about Pharot interfering in her life too much and causing problems.

This is a really good scene.
Chalee invites Nam to his mother’s birthday party.
Nam asked him whether he will hate her if he learned that she had deceived him.
“When I first came here, everyone thought I was strange. You are the only one who has been good to me. You have been sincere with your feelings. But what if…one day you find out that I”m not as good as you thought I was.”
Chalee:“Why are you talking like this? How can you not be good?”
Nam:“But what if… what if one day I’m not good. And that I’ve done you wrong. Will you be disappointed or hate me?”
Chalee:“Do you see this flower? Do you think it is pretty? A flower has its moments. It has a moment when it’s budding…blooming…withering…and an end. But the image we choose to remember, do you know Nam…(walks over to her and placed the pink rose behind her ear)…you’re very beautiful. We will remember the flower at its fullest bloom because it is the most beautiful in our eyes. No matter if it changes, this image of beauty in my eyes, just like this flower…whether it loses its beauty, it will never change. “

Awww….Nop is sick so Khun Ying Athiti can’t go to Khun Ying Samerjai’s birthday bash.

Nam vowing to her father to get the Silamanee back.

Pope introduces his girlfriend too his mother.
His mother doesn’t really his girlfriend and in a way insults her.
When they leave, she doesn’t open the gift and gives it to her servant as a present.

Pharot yells at Chalee for bringing Nam to the party. His mother is going to be pissed. Chalee could care less.
He wants to prove to his mother how serious he is about NAM.

Yep, mother dearest is not happy and even called Nam’s fruit basket too cheap for her to value.
