The second half of the year, Ch7 lakorns dominated the ratings. Ch7 churn out ratings hit after ratings hit.
Ch7′s hit makers for the second half of the year:
-Kom Faek (Noon and Por)-set the record for the highest rated lakorn in history
-Yeeuy Fah Taa Din(Aum P. and Weir)
-Supaab Borut Satan (Pinky and Aof)
-So Saeng Tawan (Tle Thanapol and Pancake)- This lakorn help launch Tle as a leading lakorn pra’ek.
-Poot Mae Nam Kong (Jui Warattaya and Weir)- After this lakorn, Jui became super popular again.
-Muay Inter (Pancake and Stefan Sunti)- a light comedy about a young Thai-Chinese girl trying to find independence from her overprotective father.
-Sanae Nang Ngiew (Film and Tong)
-Phom Ruk Roy Ardeed (Win and Kwan), a lakorn more popular off screen than on because its feuding co-stars.
-Silamanee (Kob and Paul)- this lakorn is deemed the most beautiful lakorn of the year and possibly Kob’s final lakorn.
-Jao Ying Lam Sing (New and Pinky)

Ch3′s ratings hits:
-Jai Rao(Aff and Ken)-the tearjerker lakorn of the year.
-Rak Son Kaen (Paul and Pat)
-Sapai Look Tung (Mart and Janie)
-Pookarn Reuy Lai (Por & Yardtip)
-Botan Gleep Sood Tai (Aum and Aff)
-Dao Jarut Fah (Benz and Rome)
What surprises me the most about Ch3′s hit makers are “Pookarn Reuy Lai (The Ship Commander)” and “Rak Son Kaen (Love hidden under grudge)“, I didn’t think they were that great. Heck, I barely got through one episode of both lakorns.

Ch5
Kwaam Lap Kong Superstar (Best and Mos)- less of a lakorn and more of a Mockumentary of Thai media culture. I could have been great if they didn’t cast Best, the robotic actress for the lead female role.
Heep Lon Son Wiyaan (Dew and Fang)

Modern 9
Ubut Rak Kaam Kopfah (Golf and Mike)- Ratings were so high, they decided to come out with a Part 2 coming next year.
Kluen Fan…Wan Rak (Nat and Fangkao)
Top 6 lakorns of the Year:
Jamleuy Rak
Sawan Biang
Jai rao
Dao Puern Din
Kom Faek
Nang Tat

Lakorn of the Year:
Nang Tat is considered “Lakorn of the Year” by Thairath because of its international recognition and its popularity in terms of viewers and by the critics. Though I did not watch all of Nang Tat, I can’t protest. Nang Tat in terms of story and acting is truly the top lakorn of the YEAR.

Now you know the hit-makers for 2008, do you agree? What’s your list of the best lakorns of the year?

For 2008, there were 83 lakorns that aired.
Ch 3 had 5 evening lakorns and 28 prime time lakorns. In total, they aired 33 lakorns.
Ch 5 had 10 lakorns.
Ch7 aired 4 youth evening lakorns, 10 evening lakorns, 24 prime time lakorns. Ch7 had a total of 38 lakorns for the year.
Modern 9 devoted their lakorn hours for “Academy Fantasia”, a singing talent reality show. They aired only 2 lakorns for the year.
How many lakorns did you watch this year? Sadly, I watched more than half of the lakorns that aired, I think I’m in the 50 range.
