This could just be nothing. But it is up for discussion.
Sathit Pitutecha (member of the Democratic party, the current ruling party of Thailand) is attempting to censor lakorns. He received demands from parents and many Thais claiming lakorns such as “Mia Luang (Head Wife)” and “Borisud Bumbat Kaen (The Revenge Therapy Company)” which just ended two weeks ago are bad for Thai children and Thai youths. The behaviors displayed in these lakorns are not “mor som” for the youth of Thailand, meaning it’s not appropriate for kids. Sathit Pitutecha and others fear Thai children and youths will mimic these types of ill behaviors and thus he wants to change the ratings methods for Thai TV. He wants to move the prime time lakorn time slot from 20:30 to 22:00 (8:30pm to 10pm). At 20:30, children are still awake and watching adult themed lakorns with their parents, he argued.
He is sending his concern to Teera Slukpetch, Thailand’s Minister of Culture, and to Sathit Wongnongtoei, the Prime Minister’s Office Minister for discussion.
I call this the unneeded “Save the Children” hysteria. Even at a young age, I knew right from wrong, I didn’t mimic what I saw on TV. They should give children more credit.
For those who are not watching “Mia Luang” or know nothing about it, it’s a lakorn starring Pok Piyatida, Aum Patcharapra, and Tui Theerapart about a married man who can’t keep his pants on. He loves his wife played by the talented Pok; however, he cheats on her and finds nothing wrong with his adulterous ways. He is currently sleeping with his children’s nanny and also seeing Aum Patcharapra’s character. His wife is an emotional wreck and doesn’t know how to mend their marital problems.
“Mia Luang” is a very popular lakorn, it airs every Monday and Tuesday on Ch7.

I am surprised to see so many people I assume are Thai’s defending immorality in the name of “reality”. I guess many people think the “Mature” view is to advocate “freedom” . Television is the single most effective agent to bring different attitudes, some of them unwelcome, into a country. Many countries have been brainwashed by American soap operas into accepting unproductive behaviors as ok.
There are a lot of nasty things in the world – parents should try to prevent their children from seeing, and being influenced by them. When children are older – late teens, is time enough for them to be knowing about infidelity, promiscuity and sexual deviations.
Sure, they will learn anyway at school, but home is not supposed to be the Big bad world. It is supposed to be a place of safety, where the horrors of the world recede.
Bring the horror into the living room via TV is NOT good parenting.
this idea is good too…..
little chlidren wouldn’t get the bad altitudes…
but i wouldn’t ’cause i like the romantic part not the fighting or
whatever parts it is….
If you know children psyche, then you will know that children and young adults are impressionable; which means that they learn a lot through imitation in their growing up years. Some of us adults out there still do it.
Government is elected in power to govern and protect. Young minds need to be protected. It would be bad for the country if the future generation is influenced by ‘bad’ morals. Who then will be doing the right thing?
Everybody has a part to play and responsibility in h/her actions especially those who are in the entertainment business because the influence of media can be destructive.
Ich mag diese Lakorn nicht, aber ich mag Aum.
I really liked the way they came off
i don’t see anything wrong with these lakorns being on-air. censoring and sheltering thais from things that happen in real life is not right, it’s reality. if people start censoring things just because they can’t take seeing it on-screen shouldn’t even watch it, or allow their kids to watch it, in the first place. adults should be treated as adults, and should be responsible for their actions. there’s in no need for the government to be deciding on what we should see or not see (to a certain extent), especially harmless real life lakorns like these. if it’s bad for children to watch, then the parents should decide on what to do. the government can’t always dictate our lives… that would only lead to communism.
