Last week March 31th, Ch7′s mega-hit lakorn “Mia Luang” ended and boy did it end well. The crew and cast had a reason to celebrate, the ratings for the last episode trumped all other lakorns for the night. Actually, it dominated the competition throughout its run.
Prime Time lakorns (Mar. 30, 2009)
CH3, Mon Ruk Khao Tom Mat: rating of 6 with 3,517,441 people watching
CH7, Mia Luang: rating of 18 with 10,943,909 people watching
CH5, Buang Ruk Kammathep: Rating of 4
Prime Time lakorns (Mar. 31, 2009)
CH3, Mon Ruk Khao Tom Mat: rating of 6 with 3,447,285 people watching
CH7, Mia Luang (Final): rating of 20 with 12,291,920 people watching
CH5, Buang Ruk Kammathep: Rating of 4
Story wise and acting, it was an exceptional lakorn; however, I don’t like lakorns where the husband continuously cheats on his wife. Tui’s character Rut slept with nearly all the female characters in the lakorn…Cartoon (his children’s nanny), Aum (his best-friend’s sister), Tarn Kanya (his wife’s student), and other random women around Bangkok.
When I watched the first episode, I seriously felt the urge to punch Tui in the face. Near the end of the first episode, he and his friend were at a bar having drinks, his friend who is also Aum’s brother knows about his cheating ways. They were chatting and his friend urged him to stop cheating on his wife. His replied and justification for his actions is that cheating on his wife is not morally wrong because the women he sleeps with he doesn’t love them. He loves wife, he will always go back to his wife. What he does on the side is just “meaningless fun”. His friend and myself included were both shock, his friend leaned over and said, “you’re selfish.” I thought it was the best mini-line ever, the best word to describe the bastard.
Dude, cheating hurts, maybe it’s fun to you but to the person who is being cheated on, it ain’t so great. It’s betrayal, it makes one feel like they’re not good enough. I was so appalled, he didn’t understand that cheating is a form of mental abuse. After the first episode, I didn’t watch anymore. I felt too disgusted by the main male character.
I love going to the “Mia Luang” forum thread at Pantip, everyone kept posting pictures of jack-fruits Durian, they wanted to whack Tui in the head with it. Sorry, I got my fruits mixed up.

Surprisingly, “Mae Ying”, Num Sornram and Noon Woranuch premiered moderately, I expected higher ratings.
Prime Time lakorns (April 7, 2009)
CH3, Mon Ruk Khao Tom Mat: rating of 7 with 4,497,810 people watching
CH7, Mae Ying (Second day): rating of 8 with 4,923,019 people watching
CH5, Buang Ruk Kammathep: Rating of 5

Haven’t watched it yet….but I somewhat have the urge to watch a few episodes to see what it’s like. At the end the cheating husband doesn’t get his wife back right?????? If she doesn’t then it’s a good storyline- teach people what’s wrong. But if she goes back to him at the end…I’m afraid it’ll be the worst lakorn. Something like this though, I don’t expect to see low ratings…come on everyone wants to know if the jack@$$ will get punished severely right? That’s what keeps viewers hooked on…to see the idiot get what he rightfully deserves.
hi Lyn,
thanks for your time in posting all the lakorn news.really appreciate it. btw, i was wondering are you going to cap “Mae Ying” because I really like the lakorn and the stars in it. Please…hehe
Thanks.
i love this lakorn! it showcased poks amazing skills as an actress. i think she commanded and stole every scene she was in. if she doesnt win an award or get some type of recognition for this role, then she will be cheated! (no pun intended) i think aump did a pretty good job playing a physco betch too. i hated tuis character, so i guess he did pretty well also. the girl that played poks secretary or student or whatever she was, was soo annoying! i love the fact that this series didnt have crazy bitch slapping scenes although there were some times i wanted to go through the TV and do it myself. for having such a controversial storyline, i think it was done tastefully and i think that they got their point across. in no way does this lakorn condone cheating, it just brought to the surface a topic still very taboo in society. so please dont judge this lakorn until you see it. pok has some great one liners, she was so feirce!!!! lol ok, im done.
Wat sorry i dont really get this lakorn so there is cheating and all these kinda stuff that is bad or wat is this lakorn a bad lakorn that Num and Noon did this lakorn well i havent watch it yet so i’ll see wats going on….
Yea I agree. It’s not promotional of cheating, but the lakorn shows a lesson learned the hard way. The REALLY hard way lol. I think it got super high ratings because it’s the end episode of a classic remake. But I don’t understand why Mae Ying didn’t do very well. Maybe its ratings will rise as the lakorn progresses? Mae Ying is also a classic. My mom and aunts are excited for it especially lol.
NO, I have plans to cap anne and chakrit’s upcoming lakorn airing soon and I’m also still capping Buang ruk kammathep, it would be too much work. Sorry.
Lyn.
Hey Lyn,
I was wondering if you are going to caps “Mae Ying”?
i would really appreciated if you did..=]
I love you work and thanks..
I enjoyed this lakorn. The storyline was real. There were no special effects nor crazy stunts. And it doesn’t promote husbands to cheat on their wives either, in fact it tries to do the opposite. In the end, everyone hurts. A life was ended because he wanted “meaningless fun.” I think the casts and everyone involved did a terrific job with this lakorn. They were able to convey human emotions very well. I’m not surprised it got high ratings. Congrats to the people behind this lakorn!
I didn’t like the story line so I skipped.
I wouldn’t hit him with the jack-fruits; however, I would smack him with Durian fruits.
It wasn’t about that. It didn’t promote men to cheat, it did the opposite. The lakorn is about how a cheating husband can destroy his wife and the people around him. One of his mistress Nudee (played by Tarn Kanya) committed suicide at the end. I stopped watching it because I don’t like this type of lakorn, it never has a happy ending.
thx lyn but can you continue posting ratings weekly?
I don’t get it, why this lakorn is a hit in Thailand? it’s a disgrace to encourage men to cheat. It’s really a bad example for women, especially women with low self esteem. And what about sexual transmission diseases? The writter should think about social responsibility. This is a pure disrespect of women. They should be ashame of themselves.
And omg! Aum slept with him? Willing to do that??
Most likely cause they liked the sex scenes. lol. i havent heard of this movie yet. ill go find it sumwhere??
i think the storyline was so wrong kinda like promoting husbands to cheat that it’s ok didn’t watch it btw…wow such great ratings i don’t get it….
