Lee Min Ho is in Thailand y’all, he’s been there for a couple of days now. Earlier today, he had an interview session at the Esplanade Cineplex, a major shopping and entertainment center in Bangkok. Lee Min Ho came to Thailand to film a commercial for a cosmetic line and also to promote Korean tourism.
Watching youtube fancam videos of Lee Min Ho in Thailand is crazy, his Thai fans are hardcore, it’s like a mob scene. Apparently he likes it. When asked whether he found his Thai fans aggressive, he said, “I like aggressiveness, my Thai fans are very similar to my Korean fans in the province of Pusan. Personally, I like things that are intense.”
Watch it at youtube
[He's dorky, of course in a good way]
The interview translated from Thai to English: Note that I did skip a few Questions/Answers because they sounded repetitive, like I read it somewhere before.
First, Min Lee Ho introduces himself, “Sawatdee Krub, I’m Lee Min Ho”
And then the interview starts…
-Is this your first time in Thailand?
LMH: Yes, it is my first time here.
-You have been in Thailand for 4 days now, how do you feel and how do you to feel about Thailand?
LMH: Previously, I was in Hua Hin doing a commercial for a cosmetic line and I noticed that Thailand is a very beautiful country, a place where you want to travel to. Today, it is my first time in the city.
-Have you tried Thai food yet. If you have, do you remember what’s it called?
LMH: I had some, the one that I can recall is “Padthai”, it’s delicious because it’s both sweet and sour. It’s very delicious.
[It's kinda funny, it just seems like all Korean stars love "Padthai". Rain loves "padthai". Well I do too, "padthai" is the sh*t! ]
-How does Thai food compare to Korean food?
LMH:The favors are very similar, the thing that is differnt is the rice. Korean rice is more sticky while Thai rice is more loose.
-You came to Thailand to go a commerical, can you tell us where you filmed and how you think it will turn out?
LMH:We filmed in Hua Hin, the concept is nature and the ocean is the background. I think it will turn out beautifully, please follow up on it.
-Your drama “Boys Over Flowers” is very popular in Korea and even in Thailand, though it has not yet aired here. Some Thais have seen your drama and now you’re very famous in Thailand, were you aware of this? How do you feel about it?
LMH: The first time I came to Thailand, I have fans to welcome me. I almost couldn’t get out of the car to be here because there were so many fans. I’m delighted that my drama has made me recognizable to the Thai people. I hope that in the future I will have the opportunity to come to Thailand often.
[I skipped the part where they asked him about the plot of "Boys Over Flower" because I think everyone knows it by now.]
-Back when you were still in school, did you have friends like in the “Boys Over Flower” series?
LMH:Back in middle school, I had friends like that, there was 9 of them. To this day, we’re still close. You can’t call us F4, you would have to call us F10.
-Pretty soon the Goo Joon Pyo hairdo might be a hit in Thailand, how do you feel about that?
LMH: At first, I didn’t like the haircut because I looked like an auntie with my crazy curls. Gradually as we started filming,I started to like it. It has it’s charms. In Korea, some are trying it out. I’m sure in Thailand they will too. It will be interesting (Smiles).
-How has being a famous celebrity changed your life?
LMH: It’s hasn’t changed that much. The thing that is obviously a big change is that where ever I go, I have fans following me. It gives me a lot of encouragements and I want to do well by them. I want all my fans to keep following me and follow my work continuously.
-What is your favorite scene in the series? Was it the kissing scenes?
LMH: Of course, I like the kissing scenes.I have a lot of kissing scenes with Jandi, just when I’m about to kiss her, there is something to obstruct us. Luckily love prevailed. –Note this Q/A translation is a little off.
-Have you seen versions of your drama from other countries?
LMH: a little bit.
-After the completion of “Boys Over Flowers”, do you still keep in contact with your F4 co-stars? Will you work together again?
LMH: We still keep in contact continuously. When I go back to Korea tomorrow, I will have to go to Japan to promote this drama with everyone. We’ll probably be together for 2-3 days in Japan. I’m happy to get a chance to reunite with them.
-Both Koreans and Thais are infatuated with you, what do you think is your best feature?
LMH:Do Thai women like tall men? I think my best feature is my height.
-Can you describe your ideal girl?
LMH:I like petite women and a woman who is confident.
-Currently, we’re celebrating the Songkran festival (Thai New Year), it occurs every year. Have you ever heard of it? Traditionally during the Songkran festival, Thais make a visit to see their parents and give them well-wishes. Do you have any well-wishes for your Thai fans during this holiday?
LMH:For this Songkran festival, I don’t want everyone to play water with just their friends, playing water with your family is better. I hope everyone can spend more time with their families and be happy in their family life because family is the most important thing.
[During the Thai New Year, people splash each other with water to celebrate.]
-Soon, “Boys Over Flower” will air in Thailand, can you introduce this drama to your Thai fans?
LMH:In this drama, there might be parts where the Thai people might not understand because Korean and Thai culture are different; nonetheless, I think viewers will find it enjoyable to watch. I hope in the future everyone watches this drama.
-Since you have come to Thailand, how do you feel about the Thai people or your Thai fans? Do you think your Thai fans are little aggressive?
LMH: I like aggressiveness, my Thai fans are very similar to my Korean fans in the province of Pusan. Personally, I like things that are intense (smiles).
–The drama “Boys Over Flower” has ended successfully, do you think there will be a sequel?
LMH:I’m not part of the production team, I’m just an actor (laughs). As of right now, there is no plan for a sequel. If there was one, I will gladly participated in Part 2.
Fan pictures. Again, LMH is a dork with his cheesy smile. Credit to Soompi.

goo jun pyo……………..i love yahhhh…..
hi hello im u’r pans
@Levi: I hear ya girl! Too much Lee Min Ho. It’s like over-saturated overkill. It is too bad that Goo Jun Pyo is a heck of a lot more interesting than Lee Min Ho’s real life self. Min Ho should stick to acting. He’s not an entertainer and definitely does not have the charisma nor the charm of one – I mean the shy/awkwardness in his interviews may be cute when your an up and coming, rising young star. But it makes for boring entertainment if that’s all your interviews amount to. Hopefully, he’ll take a few tips from the better socially-versed and charming Kim Joon and try a different approach to shedding off the Goo Jun Pyo persona than stiff dancing and bad singing in a CF that makes Jang Geun Suk’s “Black Engine” look pretty damn good.
@windira: Lee Min Ho is a star and just cuz he’s talented and good-looking doesn’t mean people don’t have the right to criticize him or his dubious career choices when they feel he may be squandering his talents. Plus, as sad as his sob story is, his is just a dime in a dozen in the korean entertainment biz. Stars like Kim Myung Min (whose brilliant method acting in “White Tower” and “Beethoven Virus” could outshine Min Ho’s Jun Pyo anyday) and Kim Hyun Joong faced equally difficult, if not more so, hardships than Min Ho and even they weren’t spared from harsh criticism, so what makes Min Ho so incredibly infallible that no one has the right to criticize him, especially when the criticism is valid and justified.
Btw; he’s very open and carefree
with his interview. He seems to be a very
open-minded person. yes, he is super tall.
—>my crazy sister just has to be the first
one to comment on this subject. LOL. :0)
ugh! *rolling eyes. it’s him.
watever. haha. I’m not a really big
fan of him. I never even watched an
episode of Boys before flowers. My
sister LOVES Boys before flowers, &
while she watched it I thought the
drama was dull and dragged on too
long. I don’t find him all that
cute. I just thinks he has chubby
cheeks, that’s all. LOL. butta
anyways, my question is:
SO DOES HE SPEAK IN THAI DURING HIS INTERVIEW??
I’m lost on that. Is his Thai any good?? :0)
LMH is cute, fame draws admiration and criticism. Some will love some will hate
Thank you for translating. This blog is nicely done:)
omg!lee min ho…i love you so much!u have a pretty face.u look like jerry yan but much better than him…hope u can come here visit the philippines love 2 see u here…
Come on, Levi. Give him a break. He’s such a talented actor but hasn’t been recognized for so long. He had a big accident just at the beginning of his career and had to be hospitalized for 7 months. With BBF, he finally had a break-through, but everyone was saying his popularity won’t last after the drama. Then the CF comes. The company needed his popularity and image as a new star and fresh face, and LMH wanted to show his different sides as a versatile actor. He knows his singing voice is just mediocre, but he wanted to have his own song so he can sing it at meetings with fans. I think the CF and music video gave the company what it needed: attention. Now everyone knows what 2x is about. Be more fair to LMH. It’s not his fault that all the media outlets are competing with each other for more stories about him.
Omg! LMH in Thailand wow…He is so hotie…Luv his BBF drama that he plays in…Cant believe he weht to Thailand…Now he is everywhere now….And he getting popular…Thats great…And keep up thee good work LMH and wondering wat is his next drama when he’s done doing BBF….
“LMH: It’s hasn’t changed that much. The thing that is obviously a big change is that where ever I go, I have fans following me. It gives me a lot of encouragements and I want to do well by them. I want all my fans to keep following me and follow my work continuously.”
–>seriously?.. i wish other actors have the same thought with you…<_ hohoho.. he knows it very well.. yeah.. who doesnt like your tall body, long legs, nice butt?? ^^;;
freshies, i never said i was a fan of min ho. yes, i like him as an actor, but i’m just sick of constantly hearing news about everything and anything he does. it’s called a backlash effect and i’m not the only one who feels that way. check out the seoulbeats article titled “Lee Minho in the Worst CF Ever”: http://seoulbeats.com/2009/04/lee-minho-in-the-worst-cf-ever/
There are over 70+ comments bashing the CF and lots of commentators complaining over how over-hyped Min Ho is. Here are just a few of the comments:
asianromance: “lee min ho needs to take a break and stop whoring himself out to every company who wants him on their cfs and ads. He was Doumyoji/Gu Jun Pyo- no one is going to forget so soon, so he should chill and play a little hard to get. Stop being an idol and be more of a high caliber serious actor.”
amy: “YEEEEESS! finally, other people who think that lee minho really isnt ALL THAT. and that CF was the most barftastic thing ive seen in a while. the plot was the shittiest crap ive seen in a while. NOT COOL. maj corny embarassing dance…minho’s expression throughout the entire video gave me an insane urge to punch him in the face…he is WAAAAY too hyped up these days. i mean like yeah, i admit he’s hot and everything, but he’s not hot to the point that anything he does should be worshipped and shit.”
I don’t think anyone is denying that minho is hot or that he doesn’t look ‘good’ in the CF, but honestly, his singing voice is beyond mediocre, the dancing was completely lame, the CF did absolutely nothing in terms of advertising the beer (i’m mean it was completely pointless), and minho was totally expressionless during the entire thing. where is all that great acting prowess he showed in BOF? I don’t expect him to keep up his Jun Pyo persona, but like another commentator on seoulbeats mentioned, he has always presented himself and has even said that he wants to be taken as a serious actor. serious actors, not idol boys, don’t go around ‘whoring’ themselves, looking for the next big paycheck by dabbling in things in which they have absolutely no talent for. he should leave the singing and dancing for the other F2, kim hyun joong and kim joon, who actually are idol stars and do have the knack for it.
I don’t agree with you levi. What was so wrong with his commercial he is not always going to be his character in boys before flowers. In the cass commercial he looked f-hot. I am pretty sure all those true fans out there agree that he is still the best and i hope he gets a new drama soon
i don’t like him nor do i hate him. i’m just indifferent, but i’d take robert pattinson any day over lee min ho! don’t get me wrong, lmh is hot in his own way as the leader of f4, but you can’t deny how hot robert pattinson is as edward cullen! yikes!! haha edward or the leader of f4 (his name is too long for me to remember)?? hmmm… yeah.. edward any day!!! hahaha i’m not hating, i’m just weird right now!! lol! sorry!!
oh my. the boy is really everywhere. i don’t know. i used to like him. but now with the overexposure and being so overrated, especially when other underrated actors and actresses like goo hye sun and kim joon, etc… don’t get nearly a third of the recognition they deserve, and plus that craptastic Cass Beer CF, i’m just sick and tired of hearing any news about him. sorry about the long rant, lyn! i love your site thou!
OMG!! LEE MIN HO WENT TO THAILAND!! [screams!] love him!!
