Dew Palace: Ep 1 Summary
Hmmm….is my initial thought. I like Pinky and Tawin together; however, I can’t say I’m fond of the story. Already, I’m annoyed and I know will continue to be annoyed with “Poo” Mantana Hosiri’s character till the conclusion of this lakorn. The first episode was all over the place–ghost, mystery, secrets, grudge, Poo Mantana’s craziness.
I will continue on for this scene…
…hopefully it will be coming up real soon, like in the next episode. If not, I will stop watching.

It starts out scary, Lamphao (Nok) crawls closer to the edge of the cliff, she cries and begs for her life. “I beg of you, please don’t do this to me.” She weeps and gives the mysterious woman in black a pleading “wai”.
The woman who is dress in black and is carrying a blunt object and we only see the back of her, she says nothing and creeps closer to Lamphao.
Lightning strikes and the lady in black hits Lamphao’s face with her blunt object (a baseball bat?). Lamphao screams. She swipes her nose and looks at her hand. There is blood. God golly, the woman in black is out for murder, she pulls Lamphao up by her hair. “Please don’t,” again Lamphao begs the woman in an exhausting tone.
The woman in black looks over at the crashing waves and looks down the cliff, we vaguely see her face. Really, you can’t make it out who it is. A few tugs here and there, the woman in black pushes Lamphao off the cliff.
Then Rattikan (Pinky Savika) comes running up to the cliff, she screams out, “Mom!” She looks down the cliff, she sees only the crashing waves. She screams louder, “Mae Lamphao (Mom Lamphao)” .
Then a female ghost appears and echoes Rattikan’s name. Rattikan turns around to see the ghost standing in front of her. The ghost repeats Rattikan’s name again. Rattikan does not scream or say anything. She merely stares at the ghost with fright.
The ghost speaks again, “Rattikan, my child.” The ghost extends both her arms, kinda like the Chinese zombies from Wuxia series. She walks toward Rattikan, Rattikan steps back. We discover she standing on the edge of the cliff. The ghost lets out a grin and chuckle. Rattikan falls off the cliff.

Don’t worry it’s only a dream. She didn’t die.
Rattikan screams in her sleep and wakes everyone up in her dormitory. I’m assuming this is an all girls’ school.
One of her teachers walks in, rather annoyed, and asked what has happened. This is not the first time Rattikan has had this dream, it’s a recurring nightmare about her mother’s death. It’s the 3rd time this week she has woken up everyone with her screams. Everyone in her dormitory is annoyed except her best-friend Seeman. Her teacher even said it’s a blessing Rattikan is graduating from this school tomorrow and leaving that same day.
Since nothing is wrong, the teacher tells everyone to go back to sleep and turns the light off. Seeman (Amy) stays by Rattikan’s side to comfort her. “Seema, I had a dream about my mother falling off the cliff again, It was so real.” Rattikan tells her. Seeman pulls her in for an embrace and tells her:“You’re probably just missing your mom too much, tomorrow, we’re going back home. Lets just sleep tonight.”

Meanwhile at Dew Palace, Banleu (Kelly) has the same recurring dream as Rattikan, but instead of Rattikan witnessing the murder of Lamphao, he is. He wakes up screaming and finds himself looking at Ralin (Poo). She is holding his hand. “Khun Pee, what’s the matter?” She asked him.
He tells her he had a nightmare. She continues to hold his hand and tells him that there were several phone calls for him. Most likely it’s Tanon (Tawin), his son, she says. Banleu lights up, his son to whom he has not seen in years is coming back to Dew Palace. The distress omen of the nightmare slips his mind and he smiles with glee.

Tanon steps off the bus and immediately books a tuk tuk nearby, Rattikan and Seeman also ask the same tuk tuk driver whether he is going to the wharf. He says ‘yes’ and the girls asked if he can take them there too. He agrees though he has also made a promise with Tanon.
Tanon walks up and said this tuk tuk is his, he booked it first. Rattikan apologizes and said they will take another tuk tuk car. Seeman is annoyed, she doesn’t want to wait. Seeman suggest, “Lets all go together, I don’t know how long we have to wait here. (She looks over at Tanon) Can’t we just go with you, we’re all going to the same place, to the wharf.”
Tanon looks at her dumbfounded and doesn’t give her an answer. She takes his non-responsiveness as a “Yes” and ushers Rattikan onto the tuk tuk, she steps back out as Tanon was trying to say “No”. She pushes him onto the tuk tuk and the threesome ride the tuk tuk together to the wharf.

Meanwhile at Dew Palace, Banleu and Ralin prepare for the arrival of Rattikan and Tanon. As they are talking about Tanon’s mother in the living room, they hear a shatter and a scream. One of the servants have fallen down, she was dusting Lamphao’s portrait and mysteriously it fell down. Banleu picks up the portrait and slowly moves his hands down Lamphao’s face. Ralin becomes rather annoyed and jealous. She suggest they put this portrait way and put in a new one. Banleu doesn’t like her suggestion, he does want a different frame; however, he wants to keep the picture. Different frames, the same picture portrait of Lamphao.
“But what if Tanon sees this, he might not approve.” Ralin asked.
“Lamphao was also my wife and the mistress of Dew Palace. Tanon knows that well, there shouldn’t be a problem.” Banleu answered.
They’re kinda hinting of a tension between Tanon and Banleu about Lamphao.
Ralin agrees. However, when Banleu leaves, she makes a disapproving face and shrug.

Back to the 3 amigos, they have arrive to their destination. Seeman and Rattikan get off first. Rattikan wants to split/share the fee with Tanon. Comically, her best-friend Seema points out: “share what, you don’t need to, he will pay for it. He’s a generous guy.”
In the tuk tuk, Tanon flashes an annoyed look. He is flabbergasted by her suggestion.
Again Seeman points out: “Look at him…see..see..his whole appearance is generous.”
Seeman then pulls the reluctant Rattikan away. As they walk away, Tanon slightly shakes his head in disbelief.
As Tanon is trying to pay the Tuk Tuk driver, he can’t find his wallet. He suspects Seeman and Rattikan of stealing, really his wallet slip out of his pocket while he was in the tuk tuk. Tanon curses them out, “You nuisance.”
Rattikan and Seeman wait for Rattikan’s chauffeur at nearby shop, they buy sodas to drink as they wait. Then, sporadically Tanon walks over to them and asked for his wallet back. Seeman is taken back that Tanon is trying to take her wallet. They argue about the wallet.
Tanon:”That’s clearly my wallet, I brought it when I was living abroad.”
Rattikan:”Hey, how dare you accuse my friend, I brought her that wallet.”
Tanon:“Don’t even try to defend yourself. While in the tuk tuk, you guys were shifting left and right, you were probably working as a team.”
Annoyed, Seeman raised her fist to punch Tanon, Tanon reacted in time and caught her punch. He drags her outside to the middle of the road. It was a tug-a-war with Tanon on one end and Rattikan on the other. In the middle was Seeman.
Rattikan yells at Tanon to let Seeman go. Tanon refuses. “NO, I will not let you go, you two are still young, if I don’t teach you a lesson now, you will lose your ethnics later on.”
Rattikan is confuse, she asked: ‘Lesson, what lesson?”
Tanon points to the police officer coming over. In the end, Tanon was wrong. In Seeman’s wallet, there is a picture of Seeman and Rattikan together. Then, the tuk tuk driver arrives to the scene, he hands Tanon his wallet which looks exactly like Seeman’s wallet.
Oops! Tanon laughs nervously and apologizes to Seeman. She yells at him, “I’m not forgiving you, remember that!”
The girls go back to the shop and pay for their drinks and snacks.

Still at the wharf area, Rattikan’s chauffeur never showed up and she misses the last ferry to her home island. Seeman offers Rattikan a ride home on her dad’s boat. With no other choice, she takes it.
Tanon also misses the last ferry to Dew Palace. He finds a boatman and begs for a ride there. Unfortunately, the boatman is Seeman’s father. Cautiously, Tanon asked if he can tag along too with Rattikan and Seeman. Still angry about the incident earlier, Seeman pushes Tanon off the pier and tosses his suitcase in the water too. She is lovely, isn’t she? HAHA.

Rattikan arrives to Dew Palace first and shows Tanon’s mother respect by giving her a wai and placing a phuang malai (Thai floral garland) near her portrait. She goes to her mother’s portrait to do the same thing. However, where is her mother’s portrait? She makes a fuss and Ralin hears her. Rattikan says her hello and asked about her mother’s portrait, Ralin walks away without answering. Rattikan follows her into Tanon’s room.
Rattikan:”Every time I came back from school, the first thing I do is give my mother respect, that picture has been there since I was little. Why today has that change…”
Ralin:“We have reach a turning point, things have to change now.”
Rattikan:“Change?”
Ralin:“That’s correct. From now on, everything will not be like before. You should watch your status, you should prepare yourself.”
Then a servant woman interrupts their conservation and tells that Tanon is arriving soon.

Rattikan and Ralin go to see Banleu to learn about Tanon’s arrival.
Seeing that his adopted daughter has arrive also, Banleu opens his arrive to embrace her. Ralin looks on with disgust and jealousy.

Aw Oh! Tanon is the same guy from the wharf, Rattikan looks down to hide her face. Tanon greets his father first and tells him about the bad luck he had earlier with young hoodlums who pushed off the pier. HAHA.
Tanon then notices Rattikan hiding behind his father.
“oh…that must be….” says Tanon.
Banleu then realizes that Rattikan is standing beside him, he pulls her over.
“It’s Rattikan, your younger sister. Come on Rattikan, come see your brother you have been eager to meet.”
Instantly, Tanon erupts with rage when he recognizes Rattikan, he takes her arm. “It’s you!” he shouts.
Weirdly, a woman is watching them from afar. We only see her eyes.
Banleu is baffled and asked, “You guys met before.” In unison, Rattikan says “no” and Tanon says “Yes”.
Phon, the family chauffeur points out: “that couldn’t possibly be, Khun Nu (little mistress) arrived here first.” Tanon lets go of Rattikan arms and recovers by saying, “I must have been mistaken.”
His father then asked him about reporting the incident of being harassed by hoodlums to the police. Tanon looks at Rattikan and answers:“No, I have not, I think it’s best if I handle it myself.” Rattikan pouts at him in response to his threat. Everyone walk back to the house together while Rattikan stays back. She tsk in disbelief. Tanon is her brother.
Tanon gives his mother respect by bowing down to her portrait.
Tanon:”Isn’t it regretful, I can only see my mother only in pictures.”
Banleu:’I'm sure your mother is very happy you have return here. Now we are able to be together again.”
Banleu pats his son on the shoulder and Tanon smiles at him.

Banleu shows Tanon to his room. There is a certain discomfort between father and son. There is a hidden grudge underneath pleasantries. Banleu points out this is the room Tanon used to share with he grandparents when he was five. Banleu asked if Tanon remembers that time.
Tanon replies he doesn’t remember it. It was long ago.”
Dejectedly Banleu says, “you’re right, it was a long time ago.”
Banleu was about to say something up but Tanon interrupts him, “let me take a shower first, my body is all sticky.”
Banleu sensing tension, leaves the room. Uneasily, Tanon watches him leave.
Tanon unintentionally scares Ralin in his bathroom. She was putting away his bathroom items and didn’t know he had arrived.
They greet each other and instantly Ralin is entice by Tanon. Ew! My golly this woman, she likes the son and the father.

During dinner time, Rattikan eats before everyone in the kitchen. Ralin pretends to be angry and scolds Rattikan behind her back. Banleu doesn’t think anything of it.
Tanon snidely points out:“She is probably afraid to face me.”
The adults are baffled by his statement.
Tanon takes back what he said to lighten the tension:”It’s nothing, Nong (younger sister) is probably not use to me yet, she might be embarrassed.”
Ralin still wants to get Rattikan to eat with them or maybe just joined them by drinking water. Banleu insist she shouldn’t.
Ralin inserts it’s rude and this might be a habit of Rattikan.
Banleu looks over at his son and tells Ralin, “It won’t be, we have Tanon here to watch over Rattikan.” –it can also be translated as, “we have Tanon here to teach her about manners.”
Tanon looks away uncomfortably. I’m sensing some weird sexual tension between Tanon and Rattikan, he is definitely not looking at her as a sister, though for now, he believes she is his biological sister. It’s weird.

While everyone is dining, Rattikan is at her mother’s grave.
Rattikan:“Mom, what should I do? How was I to know he was going to be my brother? If I knew when we first met, I would have been nice to him. He has changed a lot, mom. I have been thinking about you a lot mom, I been thinking so much, I have even dreamed of you. I dreamt you fell off a cliff, it was very scary. I don’t think anyone would do that to you. Dad said you were a good person, a person who loved everyone. Then why, did you leave this world so fast. Why did you kill yourself?”
Eee…behind a small tree, a woman tells Rattikan:“Nangfah (Angel), don’t listen to them. This is so scary, this is so scary. Go away.”
Rattikan turns around to look at the person who is talking to her. Foolishly she walks towards the woman, the woman jumps up and scares Rattikan. She points at Rattikan. “Ghost, Ghost” the woman repeats. “A ghost is haunting me.” She says.
She runs off and Rattikan follows her.

The woman disappears into the woods and Tanon creeps up behind Rattikan. He scares her.
Seeing him, she tries to walk away. He holds her back.
Tanon:“Where are you going?”
She stutters to give an answer.
Tanon:”You know you can’t escape me. We live in the same island, the same house, it’s best if we talk nicely to each other. ”
Rattikan recovers and tells him…”but we have nothing to talk about.”
He chuckles and raised his voice..’But I have something to talk about.”

Tanon:”You made me fall into the water and also didn’t let me tag along on the boat. Do you know how burdensome it was to reach this island?”
“Well it was an accident. Now what about you and how you….” She tries defend herself.
Before she could say anything else, he shows her his authority. ‘Call me Pee Non” He corrects her.
“Pee” in thai is a prefix meaning “older”.
“What about when you accuse me of stealing your wallet?” She continued.
Tanon:“That was an accident and I have apologize to you. You and that lesbian….See..”
Rattikan:”Her name is Seeman.”
Tanon:”The “man” part suits her. Now, does dad know about your personal orientation?”
Rattikan confused:”Orientation? What orientation?”
Tanon:“The fact that you like a ‘friend’ that is the same gender as you. You like odd things, it appears you like the same gender.”
Rattikan yells at him by shouting out his name. “Pee Non, I think you have gone too far! What right do you have to accuse me and my friend of that. You bastard, bad-mannered man.”
Rattikan tries to walk away. He stops her by saying: “Well either way, I will care for you and teach you like how an older brother should to a younger sister who is taking the wrong path.”
Rattikan huffs out of frustration and finally makes her exit. Tanon chuckle to himself as he watches Rattikan walk away. Good thing, she is not his biological sister, Tanon does not look at Rattikan like a sister. I can sense the lust from his eyes and choice of words.

Banleu looks up at the moon, Ralin brings him water and his medicine. Banleu morbidly asked Ralin to watch over Tanon just like she is doing for him.
Ralin playing the doting “wifey” role very well, she asked: “why are you saying this?”
“In this life, nothing is predictable. I have lost two people I loved the most, it has taught me not to be careless. Another thing, I dreamt Lamphao came to see me. It just seem like she was trying to tell me something.” He replied.

There has been a lot of weird supernatural activities occurring in the house. That night when Ralin is combing her hair to go to bed, the black cloth covering Lamphao’s portrait slips off. The portrait is in Ralin’s room. Ralin re-covers it. Then sporadically, on its own, it uncovers again. Annoyed, Ralin decides to take it down to the storage closest. While she is putting the portrait away, crazy lazy from the woods watches her.
Ralin notices that someone is watching her, she picks up a knife and chases after the poor woman.
The dishevel woman bumps into chauffeur guy Phon, she tells everyone she is scared. Ralin instantly recognizes the woman. The woman’s name is Mian, everyone thinks she is crazy. Because of all the strange supernatural activities around the palace, Ralin now believes it is Mian’s doing. Phon starts to scold her. He threatens to chain her up. She pleads with him. “Please don’t. I’m scared.”
To get away, Mian bites Phon’s hand. She runs off.
Ralin asked Phon to keep an eye on Mian, she might shock Tanon. As they are talking, the camera flashes to a woman dress in black, with pale skin, kinda looks like a ghost. Is she a ghost?
And the episode ends.

man, why are all my favorite actors and actresses in such dumb lakorns?
i don’t like the storyline to this lakorn at all, but because i like Tawin and
Pinky..i’ll watch it. it’s pretty scary. haha.
May 31st, 2009 at 7:25 pm
i watched it, and i think this drama is just like SUPAAB BORUT SATAN! with all the bickering, misunderstanding, slap/kiss, etc… :0)
June 1st, 2009 at 12:31 am
It’s a good thing those two aren’t siblings…cuz you’re right, the way Win looks at Pinky is anything but brotherly…I think he just wanted her to call him “p” because he wanted to hear her use it…but not in the sense of an older brother…
This first episode was kinda creepy, I had to skip through some stuff cuz it was scary to watch by myself. But I think Win and Pinky have such cute and natural chemistry…no wonder Aum was on the set so much. LOL
Well…it’s a good thing you’re capping Prajan See Roong…but I hope that we won’t be too slow in subbing and uploading it onto Youtube for everyone, it’s our only priority, so I hope that it will be fast enough…I mean, if it weren’t for your caps, I would’ve never been able to finish Jai Rao.
