…briefly for the “Mai-Tina Beauty On The Beat” concert.
Mai Charoenpura aka the Queen of Pop Rock, she just won the Star Entertainment Awards 2008 Best actress award for her role in “Memory”.
I didn’t know she could sing.
I only know her as an actress, most notably from her films: Suriyothai and Jan Dara. In Suriyothai, she played Lady Srisudachan, the villain, a woman trying to conquer all of Thailand by seduction and manipulation. In Jan Dara, she was the overly sexual stepmother who had relations with both her stepson and stepdaughter. I know, Eee!! You have to admire her, she takes her craft very seriously and chooses diverse complicated roles. When you’re watching a Mai Charoenpura film, you’re watching her, the other characters don’t matter though they are the lead.
As for Christina Aguilar aka the “Queen of Dance”, at first, I thought it was Christina Aquilera, America’s pop sensation from the late 90s. Nope, different spelling and different person. Tina, as she is known, is a Thai pop-star of Filipino descent. I recognize her face, I just don’t know her. I don’t listen to her music, I’m from a different generation.
Okay…back to Nichkhun, he is returning to Bangkok sometime in early June to perform with Mai and Christina for their “Mai-Tina Beauty On The Beat” concert set for June 6, 2009 at Impact Arena, Muang Thongtani. Khun said he was very nervous, he is performing all by himself. Can he do it, he asked. Of course you can Khun, we support you. He is spending his free time while on break from 2PM album promotion, exercising and strengthening his vocals for the concert. This is a big deal and a big stage for Khun.

I can care less about the concert, however, I do like Nichkhun. I really didnt know much about him until recently when he appeared on the MNET Scandal television show. I am in love with the show!! I cannot wait until someone finish the subbing! Anyway, I dont know if you knew it or not but they came out with episode 2 last night. I came on your page to check the updates (because you’re awesome with posting up up-to-date news), but I didnt see any mention of it. Anyway, for those who wanna check it out its on….

Kwai, thanks for the correction, I vaguely remember the movie, I swear they look exactly alike.
Good God, you kids are young. Mai has been an actress and singer for a long time. She is one the greatest dramatic actress on TV drama and motion pictures. And how can she not when her father is in the business.
That was Hong Kong actress Christy Chung who played for both sides in Jan Dara – not Mai.
Mai was pretty great in Meat Grinder earlier this year, playing a murderous noodle vendor with a troubled family history. I expect she’ll be back to collect more hardware during awards season next year.
Her role in Memory was a similarly troubled one.
I think before Suriyothai, Mai had been known as primarily a singer. I’m guessing she was the “queen of pop rock” in the 1990s.
When Blondie played in Bangkok a few years ago, Mai came out and helped Debbie Harry with a few songs — like Debbie Harry needs help.
i’m so jealous of Khun… he’s gonna be on stage w/ 2 of the best female singers! Mai is one of my faves, besides Beau Sunita… she’s so utterly AWESOME!!!
i do hope that Khun’s vocals are up to par in this concert… i really hope he SHINES!!! he’s gonna be up there with GREAT singers…
on the other hand, Mai and Christina are getting a great rising star guest singer that may be bringing in a different generation of fans with Khun being on stage.

This is one of the reasons why I want to live in Thailand…first Ice’s solo concert, now Nichkhun…dang it…
Plus, after watching more subbed clips of that MNET Scandal, I’m falling in love with this boy…He’s the sweetest boyfriend ever, he’s so adorable…I’m not even jealous…it just makes me like him more.
