Mam and Tang’s princess-bodyguard lakorn will be remade

Gasps and covers mouth with hand! One of my all time favorite lakorns is being remade!

“Mam” Katreeya McIntosh and Tang Saksit’s 1995 princess bodyguard love story ” Yak Yoot Tawan Wai Tee Plai Fah (Yearning to stop the sunset at the horizon or Yearning to stop time, อยากหยุดตะวันไว้ที่ปลายฟ้า)” is being remade and filming starts next week. “Yuk” Son Songpaisan (Gaew Lom Phet) and singer “Grand” Phanwarot Duaysianklao (Grand: The Star) are the pra’nangs.

Lets join hands everyone, lets pray and hope these newbie actors can pull it off. It’s been a few months since the conclusion of “Gaew Lom Phet”, lets hope stiff boy Son has improve. He has the look to be a leading man, just not the acting chops. I heard he has been taking acting lessons, oh please, let it be true. Don’t ruin this for me.

In the original, I vaguely remember the thunderstorm scene, their last night together. It was raining heavily and it was dark out. I remember he was walking out of her house, walking towards the gate. She chased after him and shouted out something I don’t remember. “Can you stay (meaning can you stay the night?)”, could have been the question. At this point, it starts to really pour, you can hear thunder roaring and they are both standing outside soaking wet. They look at each other yearningly and started running towards each other for an embrace. That night, they made love. The next morning, they parted ways. She was a princess and he was a commoner, their love couldn’t work. He could only love her from the sidelines. I wish I can find that scene, I would totally translate it word for word. It was such a classic moment.

I found this at youtube, one of my other favorite scenes from this lakorn. At this point, Tang knows that Mam is a princess. Originally, he did not. Though she was a rich woman and she was his boss, he felt their love could work because they were both commoners. When he learns that Mam is a princess his dream of being with her is shattered.

In this scene, they are at Pattaya at Tang’s parent’s house. People were trying to kill Mam, so Tang took her to Pattaya to hide out. While there, Mam is trying to repay her debt of lying to him by doing odd chores around the house. Instead of being happy about it, Tang is annoyed by her actions.

They are in the kitchen, Mam wanted to do the dishes.

Tang Saksit:“Can you stop working, let other people take responsibility for it. You should just stay still and do nothing”

Mam Katreeya:”But I don’t want it like that”

Tang Saksit:“That’s correct, you’re naughty. You don’t consider what will happen to me, my elders will think I am not doing right by you. Why, why can’t you ever make me feel content.”

Mam Katreeya:”Then, what do you want me to do?”

“Just stay still, Just stay still!Just that, it will make me feel more at ease.” Tang Saksit shouts at her with veins popping out of his neck:

Mam Katreeya:”Just that? Khun Namchiao, when will you stop being angry with me? Do you know what you are doing and saying, it is out of spite. When will you stop taking revenge on me.”

Tang Saksit looks away. “I’m not taking revenge on you.”

She doesn’t believe him. “It’s not true. You are upset because we have hidden the truth from you. It was out of necessity. I, too, did not want it to be like this. I have been trying to redeem myself by doing good by you. But you’re not satisfy. (Starts to tear up) Just tell me, just say it, what would you like me to do in order for you to forgive me. I am willing to do anything. But please, don’t act like this. I don’t want to argue over something stupid and crazy like this. (Cries louder and looks away)

–It was intense. He is not angry about the dishes, he is angry about their situation and doesn’t know how to project his angry in the right manner.
