Rainbow Moon: Ep 3 Summary Completed

This episode could have been shorten to 45 minutes instead of a long 90 minutes. Lookie here, I don’t care about certain characters, just because they are characters in this series, it doesn’t mean we have to develop them or pair them off with another minor character. It serves no purpose, it’s a waste of my lakorn watching experience. Several scenes could have been deleted, they felt like a long awkward pause in a conversation between people who despise each other.

Tawan is such a good boy, I want to smack him. If he explains the meaning of rainbow moon again, I will definitely smack him. We get it. Rainbow moon means tolerating others and learning to endure hardship. I’m not dumb. No need to repeat it. I can’t wait for Tawan to turn “bad.” It will add some spice to his somewhat dull character.

I can’t say I hate this episode. There were moments I found very touching and heart-breaking. Near the end when Tawan took back his white rose before it was thrown away, dude, play me a sad violin song.

Awnadee or Onadee is downright evil, I knew I was going to hate and I do hate her.

About the music, it’s so epic, like something great or profound is about to happen. Seriously, don’t they think they are overdoing it?

The first day at school, Tawan befriends Kay-Yun (Peemai) and Wanut. They literally bump into each other. After their freshmen group meeting, the three decide to go buy drinks at a local coffee shop. While heading there, Tawan sees a soccer ball flying towards a young woman. Miraculously, another ball is kick to him and Tawan kicks the ball to divert the other ball from hitting the young woman. What a set -up!

Ah….our nang’ek Plaifah. It’s love at first sight for Tawan. Like the meaning of her name, she is like a petal from the heavens yo Tawan

Before she could thank him for saving her, her mother interrupts them. Her mother is in a haste and quickly ushered Plaifah away. “Sweetie, your father is waiting in the car, we have go. You can talk to them later.”

Plaifah looks back regretfully not waiting to leave as her mother drags her away.

Tawan cheeses as he watch Plaifah walk away, he is in love for the first time in his life. Kay-Yun becomes jealous and insults Plaifah. “A person has taken an effort to help her, but she doesn’t give a word of thanks. She has no manners.”

“It’s okay, she is probably in rush.” Tawan defends Plaifah. Kay-Yun instantly flashes him a disdain look. And, our dorky pra’ek continues to cheese. DUDE, lets stop with the cheesing, she already left.

The three new amigos Tawan, Kay-Yun, and Wanut continued their travel to the coffee shop.

Holy mother of marshmallows, guess who owns the coffee shop, it’s Onadee! Tawan looks at the menu charge and sees the prices. TOO expensive, he points out. Onadee hears him and says, “If it is too expensive, then you don’t have to drink it.”

Tawan then stupidly asked why she is charging college students so much for coffee.

“How much I sell it for is my business. If you want to drink it, then buy it. If you don’t want to drink it, then don’t buy it. If you don’t have the resources to buy it, then you can leave. Don’t be a waste of space for other customers.” Onadee angrily answered,

Tawan looks down briefly and then walked out. His two new friends Wanut and Kay-Yun are surprise, they chase after him.

“A cup of coffee that doesn’t even cost that much, he says is expensive. hm…his parents much be really poor.” Onadee said after Tawan left.

His friends want an explanation. Stupidly, Wanut wants to go back to the coffee shop, this is the best shop, they have the best coffee. He doesn’t care if Onadee is an evil biatch. “Tawan, people nowadays don’t care about the personality of the owner, whether it is expensive, as long as they get to eat and drink something delicious. Am I right?”

Oddly and stupidly, Kay-Yun agrees. ??? What the hell is up with these two?

Tawan explains his father worked hard to earn money, he is not going to waste it at a shop like this. Good for him, he has sense and pride.

From what we know, Onadee has done well for herself since the death of her elderly farang boyfriend. He left her 100 million baht (Almost $3 million USD). She is using her inheritance money to befriend high-society folks and to get into their community. No one knows of her past as a prostitute. “That Onadee is dead,” she told her friend.

Why the rush to head home and to dress beautiful just to be at home? For Plaifah’s surprised graduation party.

Plaifah is grateful but felt it was too much. She wanted something small and inexpensive. Her father tells he is not the only one paying for it. Sasin, Plaifah’s boyfriend, is paying for half of it.

Ace is handsome. Just wanted to point that out.

Sasin tells Plaifah he loves her in front of her parents. He also promises to take good care of her for the rest of his life. Barf!

After the chat with Plaifah’s parents, they stroll to the garden together.

Plaifah: “My parents are very in love with you.”

Sasin:” Aren’t you happy that I can get along with your family?”

Plaifah:”Of course, I’m happy. However, someone did tell me once, love starts at 100 points and gradually the points are lost. I’m afraid one day, your love for me will fall to zero. I will be devastated and my parents will to.”

Sasin:“They won’t be regretful because my love for you will only increase–from one hundred, to one thousand, to a million.”

Sasin lowers his voice and softens it. “I love you very much, please trust my love.”

Plaifah looks shyly down and agrees. He goes in for a kiss, she rejects it saying it would ruin her chastity. —just don’t ask. It’s a lakorn, they tend to be conservative.

Sasin was kinda disheartened and asked, “Why must you be protective of your body even with me?

“Girls have more to lose than men, I don’t want to do anything disgraceful.” Plaifah explained.

Sasin is still persistent and said, “Just a kiss on the cheeks, it’s not disgraceful.”

HAHA, he gets rejected again when he goes in for the second kiss.

Plaifah”If you love me, you must respect me, please.”

He agrees, reluctantly. HAHA>

I know my caps are out of order, the girl in red is Lin (Noon), Plaifah’s cousin and also a publicist. Later on, she will play a bigger role in Tawan’s life as his publicist when his singing career kicks off.

Onadee is also at the party. She is a friend of Plaifah’s mother. Onadee is playing up the hi-so crowd. Ew! Hate her. Damn you deceitful woman. I wonder what they will think after they hear about her past.

Luck immediately calls Tawan when he gets home. He wants to know all about his son’s first day at school.

-how are you? where are you now? have you eaten? how is the university?

Tawan:“Dad, that’s a lot of questions. Right now, I’m at the apartment, I’m eating. At the university, there were good things and bad.”

Luck is startled to hear the word “bad.”

“What, who has done something bad to my son?”

Tawan tells him about Onadee and the coffee shop incident. Tawan smiles it off and said he just tolerated it.

“I didn’t do anything to her, dad. I saw heR as a color of the rainbow I don’t like. Though it might be the color I don’t like, I must tolerate it in my life, dad.”

Luck praises his son for being a good person and asked him about the good thing that happened.

While cheesing, Tawan answered, “Dad, I have found the color of the rainbow I like. That I like very much too.” DORK!!!

All day, Plaifah looks for Tawan. She finally finds him near soccer field. She thanks him for helping her out the previous day. He shyly talks to her. Kay-Yun interrupts them in a jealous manner and directs Tawn to the soccer field.

“Tawan, don’t talk now, your friends are waiting for you over there.”

The guys head off to play soccer and the girls remained on the sidelines and acted as cheerleaders for them.

“Fight, Fight Tawan.” They chant.

Everything is going well until Tawan kicks for the goal and misses. Instead of going into the net, the ball flies out of boundary and knocks Onadee down who happened to be walking by. She was not amuse. Tawan immediately runs up to her and apologizes. Seeing that it was Tawan who kicked the ball, Onadee assumes he did it on purpose because of the incident yesterday.

“You are such a bastard! You wanted revenge, didn’t you? “ On yelled at him.

Tawan tries to defend himself. “No, what revenge? for what reason?”

—Evil people are paranoid, aren’t they?. They think people are like them–cold and dishonest. They forget that in this world, some people are still decent. They only see the world from their perspective and it’s not a beautiful world. Everyone is bad in their eyes. They become cynical and Onadee is that type of person. She only recognizes the negative side of humanity.

Onadee:“Don’t play dumb, I will call the cops on you.”

Then she sees her phone on the ground and in pieces. Onadee becomes more angry. At this point, the girls run up to see the commotion. Onadee begins to tell everyone that Tawan did this on purpose, he wanted revenge.

Plaifah defends Tawan by saying, “Aunt On, he probably didn’t mean it.”

Onadee doesn’t believe it.
“In people, you can only see their outer appearance but you can’t see their hearts. Just looking at him, I can tell he is despicable since the day he was born. “ —In a way, I felt she was talking about herself.

Onadee is still persistent in getting the police involve, Plaifah begs her not to. She agrees if Tawan apologizes. Happily, Tawan is willing to do so. He gives her a very respectful “wai” and apologizes. His friends even “wai” her too.

You would think Onadee would be happy. Nope, she does not want that type of apology. He wants him to bow down to her feet. In the Buddhist faith to which majority of Thais are, the feet is the most dirtiest and unholiest part of the body. To bow down to someone’s feet is the most honorable and disgraceful thing you can do.

Kay-Yun tries to stop it. “Hey, just because he kicked a ball and it hit you, don’t you think bowing down to your feet is going to far?”

Onadee looked at Kay-Yun and asid:”What if I call the cops?’

She looks at Tawan and asked, “Will you bow or not?”

Tawan clutches his rainbow moon necklace and things about his father. His father taught him to tolerate and endure, he will do that now.

Tawan bows down. Everyone is shock because bowing down to someone’s feet is a big gesture. After seeing Tawan bow down, Wanut becomes angry and asked On, “Are you satisfied now?”

Onadee smirks and replied, “NO.”

“The bow is for hurting me physically. But the issue with my broken phone, you must pay me back.”

That night, Tawan counts the money he has. Considering the fee of school and the apartment, he does not have enough. He debates on whether to call Luck for more money. In the end, he decides to handle this himself. He does not want to trouble his father and he worried Luck would be in financial burden if he did.

The next day, he gives Onadee 3,000 baht ($87), clearly not enough for her phone. Her phone cost 30,000($880). Since he doesn’t have the money to pay her back, Onadee makes Tawan work for it. For the next 3-4 months, he will work off his debt at her coffee shop.

The first day at work, Onadee is rough with Tawan, she orders him around and yells at him for her own amusement. Her friend finds her behavior very odd and asked, “I have never since you order a kid around as much as him, what did he do to you?”

Onadee huffs and said, “Nothing. I don’t know why, when I look at him, I feel uneasy, I feel hate. I just can’t stand him.”

“If you can’t stand him, why did you agree to let him work here?”

Onadee:”Because I want to taunt him, I don’t know why, when he is enduring hardship, I feel satisfied for some odd reason.” —because you’re nuts? Just a thought.

While Tawan is clearing one of the tables outside, Plaifah arrives. He explains to her about his situation. ” I didn’t have enough money to pay Khun On back, so I will have to work here until my debt is paid off. I will work here for 4 months. It will be very difficult to work with a person who hates me.”

She sympathies with him and gives him encouraging words to fight on.
“Everything in this world is not one-sided. There is two parts to everything. During bad times, goodness still exist, but it is hidden. Take working here as a learning experience, your tolerance here will lead to happiness in the future.”

Tawan learns Plaifah comes to this coffee shop often/ everyday. Though he is in a bad situation, it’s not that bad. At least, he will see Plaifah everyday.

Onadee, who had been watching Plaifah and Tawan’s talking from afar becomes annoyed. She is annoyed he is happy. When his shift ends, Onadee takes the opportunity to yell at Tawan for talking to Plaifah.“You are a poor man’s son. As for Plaifah, she is a rich’s man daughter. You don’t match her. Since I am a friend of her mother’s, I am giving you a warning about getting yourself involve with Plaifah.”

“The things regarding the coffee shop, you can order me around. But you don’t have the right to order me around in my personal life. Since I’m done here, excuse me.” Tawan fights back.

Luck misses Tawan so he came to visit him. He is a little surprise Tawan comes home this late. Tawan lies that at the university there are a lot of activities. For the next 3-4 months, he will be coming home late every day.

Tawan lied because he doesn’t want his father to worry and if he knew, he would offer him money. He doesn’t want to be a burden to his father.

That night, Tawan dreams about Plaifah. His father notices him smiling in his sleep. “He must be dreaming about girls.” Luck proudly wonders. Luck then realizes that is not good. Maybe the reason why Tawan comes home late every day is because he is chasing after girls. Luck is a little worried.

The next day, Tawan sees Plaifah at the coffee shop again. That day, he is also introduce to Plaifah’s boyfriend Sasin, who rudely disregard Tawan a pitiful coffee shop worker. “Plaifah, I didn’t know you have a friend who is a server.”

Plaifah:”No, he is a student here . Out of necessity he had to work here for Aunt On.”

“Because he is poor that is why he has to work here. ” Onadee said when she walks in.

“If he wasn’t poor, he wouldn’t have to work here.” Onadee continued. Onadee then encouraged Plaifah to introduce Sasin to Tawan as her boyfriend.

Sasin and Plaifah leave together and Tawan watch them drive off together. Seeing that Tawan is depress, she makes sure to rub it in. “are you really that depressed to see Nu Fah have a boyfriend?”

Tawan tries to play it off. “If she has a boyfriend, why would I feel regretful?”

Onadee erupts with anger and yells at him, “I eat rice not grass, by just looking at you I can tell how you feel about Nu Fah.”

“Your assumptions can be wrong.” Tawan tells her and walks off.

Onadee stops him: “Fine. If my assumptions are right, then you need to prepare yourself. Nu Fah is not suitable for you in name and status. No matter how many times you are reincarnated a petal from the heavens like Plaifah will never fall down to a temple dog like you.”

Luck learns about his son’s extracurricular activities. Luck wants to help, Tawan refuses to let him get involve.

“Dad, I’m not a kid anymore, I have to take responsibility like an adult” he tells his father. Though Luck wants to help, he doesn’t have the money.

While having drinks with her good friend, Onadee runs in to Sasin. She informs Sasin about Tawan and his relationship with Plaifah, which totally upsets Sasin.

Back at his apartment, Tawan thinks about what Ondaee said and his feelings for Plaifah. When Luck comes into the room, Tawan tells him that Plaifah has a boyfriend.

“Not only is he wealthy, he is handsome, they match perfectly.” Tawan dejectedly told his father.

“I have always thought that love is beautiful and will make us happy. But I have never thought that once I find love, it would hurt me this much.” He continued

“You are not in pain because of love, you are in pain because of lost of hope.” Luck explains to him.

Tawan doesn’t understand and points out, “Lack of hope? When we love someone and we hope for them to reciprocate our love If not, what is the point of loving someone?”

Luck: “When Plaifah smiles, how do you feel?”

“I feel excited, I feel like everything is delightful, and everything around me is beautiful. Her smile is my happiness.”

Luck:”Then are you happy?”

“Happiness and love, it doesn’t mean love will reciprocate, love is the act of seeing the person we love be happy.”

Luck:”Just like how I love you.”

The next day, Tawan organizes something very romantic for Plaifah. First, he signs out her research book from the library. He fills a box with heart balloons covering the book. The helium filled balloons have signs on them that read, “how to use, pull up the string”

Plaifah does as she is instructed, she pulls a book up and a white rose tied on the balloon string.

From afar, Tawan looks on contently.

“Love is to give, I give this to you, Plaifah.” —the note reads. The note is not signed.

Kay-yun surprises Tawan while he is studying. They talk about Plaifah.

Kay-Yun:”Do you like Plaifah?”

Tawan:”No matter how I feel about her, Plaifah and I can only be friends. A dirt like me is not suitable for star in the heavens.”

Kay-Yun:”It’s good that you know. If you love someone who is greatly different from you, it will not make you happy compared to being in love to a person who is similar to you. I think you should let go of your feelings for Plaifah.”

Tawan doesn’t say anything.

In an attempt to help his son out, Luck decides to visit the coffee shop to talk to Onadaee. He is shock to learn it’s Onadee, his Onadee, Tawan’s biological mother. He lies to her that he came to the wrong coffee shop.

At first, she doesn’t recognize him. Then, Ding. She recalls him. Onadee pretends to be nice to Luck.

Onadee:”I’m so happy to see you again. These past few years, I have been thinking about you.”

“Me? For what reason?” Luck asked a little baffled.

Really she was thinking about the baby she tried to kill, but instead mentioned the money she borrowed from him. Luck is relieved she did not mention the baby and she is relieved Luck did say anything about Tawan. She gives back Luck the money she owed him several years ago. Luck doesn’t want to accept it because he has forgotten all about it.

“I can’t keep something that is not mine, I have to return it. Take it. It’s your money.” She pushes the money at him.

Cautiously Luck shoots out a question. “What if the possession is not want the owner wants, will you still return it?”

Onadee:”Of course, I will return it. I must return it. Though the possession is not wanted by the owner, it might be because of a bad mood. When that person is in a better mood, it might see the possession as meaningful again. If it is something of mine, I will always want it back.”

Her statement makes Luck uneasy. He definitely does not want to give Tawan back to Onadee.

After Luck leaves, Onadee curses her fate. She does not want to see people from her past, they know too much about her.

Luck also curses the heavens and fate.

“Father (meaning god), why are you playing a joke with me? When Onadee doesn’t want Tawan anymore, why has fate brought them together again?”

At school, Plaifah and Tawan are named female and male class representative. When they won, their friends wanted to go celebrate. But Kay-Yun pulled Tawan back out of jealous and urged home to go work instead. She reminded him of Onadee’s personality and how she would never let Tawan off if he skipped work today. Since he is class representative there will be more occasions where he has to call of work, he shouldn’t use his off time to celebrate, he should save his time off for better use.

Tawan takes Kay-Yun’s advice and decides to go to work that day. Plaifah walks with him there because she can’t go celebrate either because she has things to do for her mother. As they are walking to the coffee shop, Tawan notices the white rose, the same one he anonymously surprised her with. “White rose means pure love. The person who gave it to you knew you have a boyfriend but gave this white rose to you out of sincerity and did not hope for you to like him back.”

Tawan makes it a point to ask whether she likes this gift.

Plaifah:”Not only is it beautiful, it smells good too. Just looking at it makes everything beautiful”

Plaifah walks ahead, Tawan looks at her from behind with a goofy look.

Tawan arrives at the coffee shop 10 minutes, Onadee makes a big production out of it. CHILL woman, it’s only 10 minutes. Plaifah defends Tawan. “Our freshmen class had an election, that is why Tawan is late. After it was done, we immediately left from there. I can vouch for him.”

Instead of accepting Plaifah’s reason, Onadee makes it another point to yell Tawan. “You’re late and now you’re making Plaifah make up an excuse for you?”

Plaifah:”I’m not making it up, I’m here to meet up with Sasin, so I walked with him here.”

Onadee gives Plaifah a warning. “Be cautious Plaifah, if you keep siding with him, one day you will be sorry. Whatever the reason why he is late, rules are rules, there must be a punishment. I will cute his wages for today.” —Biatch!

The money Onadee gave him, Luck decides to give it to Tawan. He wants him to immediately quit the coffee shop, Tawan doesn’t understand why. He wants to take responsibility for his own actions and his father is oddly scolding him for doing the right thing.

Luck:“How far are you going to be stubborn with me? Do you think since you have made it into a university, you can’t follow my directions? If this great eduction is making you not listen to me, you shouldn’t study, you should just quit this university.”

Tawan is shock:

“The years I have studied to get into this university, do you not see the meaning of it all…that is why you are making me quit over this stupid issue. I can’t accept your money because working and studying is very tiring but I wanted to make you proud of me. I wanted to show you I can endure, I wanted to show you I am making the color of the moon a rainbow color just like how you have taught me. Not only do you not see my good intentions, you are accusing me of being a rebellious kid. If you don’t want me to do it, why did you teach me it.”

Luck apologizes and Tawan goes back to work.

As he is wiping a table outside, Sasin comes along. Onadee sees him and greets him. “Hello Khun Sasin, early morning and early evening, you really do take good care of Plaifah. I’m not surprise she loves you very much.”

Onadee looks over at Tawan, “Either way, you must be careful, there are many cat burglars around here. Someone might snatch Plaifah from you.”

Sasin smiling confidently, “I’m not afraid. Plaifah and I love each other very much. No one will dare snatch her away from me. Plaifah and myself have discuss it already that once she finish school, we are going to get marry.”

Sasin makes it a point to look over at Tawan.

“Tawan, when that day comes, you must come to give us a well-wish.”

“I will.” Tawan said sternly without emotion.

After sitting down, Sasin notices the flowers. Plaifah tells him she got the bouquet from the election, she is class representative. “You should have told me, I would have gone to cheer for you.” Sasin said and smiled.

About the white rose. From an anonymous admirer, she tells him. He makes a frown. Throw it away because he feels jealous. She agrees because she would feel the same way too if some random woman gave Sasin a gift. In order to save his white rose from being thrown away, Tawan intercepts it.

“I’ll throw it away for you.” Tawan said. AWWW!

When they leave, Tawan watches him yearningly. Onadee notices and walks over to him.

Onadee:”When you’re with Plaifah, you are as happy as can be. When she leaves with Sasin, you act like a sad puppy. Oh please, even if you deny it, I will never believe that you don’t have feelings for Plaifah.”

Tawan:”I can’t stop your assumptions, I can’t prohibit them. Think what you want.”

Onadee:”I will, a poor person like you will never have the ability to prohibit a rich person like me.”

She laughs and walks away. He stops her.

“I am a class representative.” He tells her.

She laughs again because she can’t believe his classmates would elect him. Tawan tells her he will have a lot of activities coming up. He would need time off, will she approve? Nope. If he wants to do those activities he must pay her debt first and quit working here.

Since he doesn’t have the money, Onadee suggests he resigns as class representative and continue to work here until his debt is paid. HAHA. Karma is a bitch. As she turns to walk away, she bumps into a customer holding a hot coffee. BURN!

She makes Tawan put ointment on her burn spot and Luck who has been spying on Tawan all day, sees him doing it. He is concern. He calls Kaew to come to Bangkok right away.

That night, Luck and Tawan have an discussion about Onadee.

Luck:”Can I ask you something? Khun Onadee, she has been scolding you and taunting you, why did you help her?”

Tawan:”You saw?”

Luck:”I was about to leave and I came to see you there.”

Tawan:”The first day I started working for Khun On, whether she scolded or taunted me, I felt angry. But I have never hated her. When there isn’t a lot of customers, I feared the shop would lose profits. When I see her in pain, I felt pain too. I don’t know why I have to feel like this towards Khun On.”

Luck:”Have you ever felt that same feeling with me?”

“Never.” Tawan said without hesitation. Luck feels hurt when he hears that, he lets out a tear.

Sensing his father’s distress, he knees to his father . “My concern for Khun Onadee is less than my concern for you. I can’t sacrifice my life for her but I can sacrifice my life for you. I don’t love her. I love you, dad. My feelings for you is greater than my feelings for Khun On by thousands of times. Khun On is an outsider and you are my father. How can I be more concern about other people than my own father.”

Luck is satisfied and smiles.

End of episode.
