[Those Asian amazon-looking chicas be winning]
Just like Rainbow Moon when it comes to TV ratings, Rome and Janie’s lakorn “Cloud Jade” is failing miserably to Ch7′s action lakorn “Sao 5 (Saturn 5)”. The numbers speak for themselves. There has been several articles written about “Sao 5 (Saturn 5)” being the darling of the public to which I find very laughable. Several of the nang’eks (yes, it is a multi-paired series, there are 5 couples) can’t act. I must admit, they are really beautiful. They are because most of them are beauty queens–tall, slender, and have long hair, a heterosexual man’s dream.
July 6:
Ch3-Yok Lai Mek (Cloud Jade): Rating of 5 (3,171,573 viewers)
Ch7-Sao 5 (5 Saturns): Rating of 21 (13,076,862 viewers)
Ch5-Hero 1000 Ruk: Rating of 3
Evening lakorns
Ch3-Guan Kamathep (Cupid Gang): Rating of 11
Ch7-Suay, Saab, Sing (Beautiful, Smart, Fast): Rating of 13
July 7:
Ch3-Yok Lai Mek (Cloud Jade): Rating of 5 (3,160,460 viewers)
Ch7-Sao 5 (5 Saturns): Rating of 21 (13,115,956 viewers)
Ch5-Hero 1000 Ruk: Rating of 3
Evening lakorns
Ch3-Guan Kamathep (Cupid Gang): Rating of 10
Ch7-Suay, Saab, Sing (Beautiful, Smart, Fast): Rating of 13

I’ve noticed that in most of the ratings, ch.3 is usually losing because their lakorns go up against Ch.7′s action lakorns. But when Ch.3 aired “Din, Nam, Lom, Fai” the rating was quite high (not enough to beat Ch.7 but still); so does the Thai audience prefer watching action lakorns to emotional ones then?
I am enjoying Yok Lai Mek. The lakorn is more modern. If I were the advertiser I will pick the channels for who they reach. If I have a product that will attracts country folks, I’ll go with Ch. 7. If I have a product that reaches more inter, youth and city peeps, Ch.3. I thought product placements were good in YLM.
I’m Thai. In here we all know the reason why the rating is like that. It’s because of the signal. Ch7 has a strong sign in the whole country when Ch3 can be clearly seen in only some provinces. I live in Chiang Mai and Bangkok and the cities are big enough to get the strong sign from ch3 but when I go to some rural places like Mae hong son or Surin I can’t watch ch3 clearly and can’t watch at all in Pattalung (the south of Thailand) ch3 knows that well so most of their lakorns are for city people more.
Hate both of them and for Cloud Jade it’s so boring and the pra nang are just so blah same for sao 5
No way, I’m looking forward to finishing Cloud Jade as soon as subbing continues. It’s really good.
Blah, i dont like this Thai ratings. I don’t see how ch3′s lakorn are failing in rating. Ihonestly think Ch7′s lakorns are not as great as ch. 3!! but what am I to say? I guess THailand’s demands are totally different!
I’m actually watching both and I have to agree with you Lyn. The nang’eks of Sao 5 can not act to save their life! Well except for Grace. It seem as if they are reading their lines from a big board or something. As for Yok Lai Mek, I actually really love it. I’m in love with Ice and Pip’s couple right now and I am so going to cry in the next episode. The preview actually just pissed me off.
Ch 3 will never beat Ch 7 so might as well just accept defeat, get over it, and move on. Unless rating determine whether they get airtime or not, I’m not going to scream about it.
Actually for the sao 5 actress, they are pretty good for new comer compared to son, bie, vill, and many more new comer, sometime they overact but not as much as pancake them and it’s ok becuase it’s there first lakorn. And for both of the lakorn it’s boring so dont watch either of them
I have been watching Cloud Jade ever since it came out, since I’m not really into Ch. 7′s lakorns, I don’t really watch them, but I have to admit that Ch. 3 is losing its edge, to me, right now Cloud Jade is kind of taking a turn for the worse not the better.
wow those girls are freakin’ tall! i’d be a midget next to them! XD
Same here, personally I love Yok Lai Mek- it is at a very good pace although there are at least 1-2 episodes that kind of draggy, it’s all good. As for Sao 5, I am not so much of a action lakorn cause seriously I think the action is pretty much corny LOL. The Thai action films, I got to say are a lot better.
I love Cloud Jade! Rome is looking really hot and Janie is looking really pretty (I think she got a nose job because she looks prettier than before) too! I love their wardrobe, it’s so chic and the casting was fabulous! Regardless of the ratings, Cloud Jade is a really good drama and as mentioned above, if I was to rely on ratings to watch my dramas, then I would be missing out on a bunch of good dramas.
all i can say is some ppl have bad taste haha
Gee again !!! If I was to go by thai nelson rating I would have stop watch thai lakorn long time ago. Big fan of CH3 altgough I haven’t time to watch any lakorn lately but come to fall hopefully Ch3 will have a better line up. Ken and Ann, Aum and Aff. Aum and Ann, ken and Aff…………
Actions always appeal Thai audience.
I personally am really enjoying Yok Lai Mek.
It’s very mysterious and interesting. But Ch3′s rating are always low compare to Ch7 so it’s not a suprise.
