Burnt Sugar: Ep 4 Caps Part 1 completed

yep, she is still avoiding him.

This might be the last summary I do for this series because the pacing is downright driving me insane. It’s slow. The music…oh, I can’t stand it. Ringing noise, corny saxophone solos, I can’t bear it anymore. I don’t understand why lakorn makers don’t understand the importance of background music, I usually stay on to watch a series because of the music. Honestly, I’m that fanatical about music. Korean dramas and Japanese  dramas give us at least 12 tracks of original music of both vocal and instrumental. Thai dramas only give us 2 songs for the opening and the ending theme. Background sounds are usually recycled from previous work. I know music is expensive but come on, I’m sure their is at least one Thai person living in Thailand who can play the piano and compose music. Honestly! I’m not asking for a well-known western producer. They should add more songs, get more Thai artist to contribute to the lakorn album. I’m just saying, it would make my lakorn watching experience so much better.

On with the caps!

In the last episode, her brother Tik advised her to treat her relationship with Tao as an employer and employee relationship, she shouldn’t feel obligated or guilty if she sees another person. Their marriage is a sham, she should treat it as such. I would agree. But Bow is more traditional. She is taking her marriage serious.

In this episode, Tik makes a visit to see Tao, he wants Tao to give Bow a divorce because Bow has found another guy, a guy who loves her. Bow’s new man is rich.  Bow and Tao’s $5 million baht ($148, 676 USD) arrangement would mean nothing to Pawan, thus Tao should reconsider.  If not, Tik threatens to tell Pawan everything then things will become complicated. Tao losing face is one of the outcomes.

The situation is complicated for Tao, he wants his freedom and wealth. His mother has not create a will as of yet, it is not guarantee that he will get an inheritance from his mother dearest. Though he loves Bow as a sister, his manipulative boyfriend Ae does not. To keep his boyfriend happy, he pushes Bow to the side like she is a stranger.

After chatting with Tao, Tik calls Bow. He went to ask Tao for a divorce for his sister but he didn’t answer him. Bow is shock.

Pointless scene between these two. Jaeng-la teases Pawan about pursuing a married woman.

Pawan argues that he is not doing anything wrong. He is not the third hand in their relationship because they are getting a divorce anyways. Though Pawan is up for the challenge of breaking social standards, is Bow playing along too, Jaeng la asked.

Nope, replied Pawan. She has been avoiding him by pretending to be sick. Poor guy. Because Jaeng-la can’t keep his mouth shut about anything, he revealed to Pawan that he is now working for Tao’s mother, he can give Pawan the scoop on Tao.

So the two men start to gossip but we really don’t know what Jaeng-la said because the scene changes.

Bow’s mother is a little worried about Bow’s relationship with Pawan.

“Your relationship with Khun Pawan is not like a typical boss and employee relationship, what is going on here?”

Bow doesn’t answer her and changes the topic by asking a question. “If I was to get a divorce with Tao, what would you think?”

Her mother is shock. “So you like Khun Pawan very much, don’t you?”

Bow:”Mom, this has nothing to do with Khun Pawan. If I was to break up with Tao, it would have nothing to do with other people, it would be more about us. There will be a second or third hand issue.”

Her mother is still stunned. “Bow, I believe you but what about other people. How will they understand?”

Bow smiles and plays it off. “Mom, I was just asking, I have not decided yet.”

The phone rings, it’s Tao.

Khun Sathorn introduces his daughter to Pawan. Instantly there is some sort of attraction between them. Nian is a pretty girl, Pawan was stunned by her beauty.

Nian has not graduated from school; however, she does speak 4 languages: French, English, Thai, and Chinese.

Ewww…during their meeting, Nian was pretending to be innocent and playing cute. Gr! Roll eyes and pressing the fast-forward button just about now.

blah. blah.

Pawan makes a visit to see Bow.

He becomes very concern when her mother said she is ill. But it is nothing serious.

Blah. blah. Nian prank calls Pawan pretending to be a girl he knows. Boring.

Her mother tells her that Pawan is here and she should go down and chat with him. Her mother give her an advice. If she doesn’t like him, then be honest and straight forward about it. There is no point of stalling the inevitable.

“One day, you will have to tell him. However, are you deceiving me? You like him.”

ah. Her mother knows her too well.

Bow:”Mom, what should I do? I’m very confuse?”

She hugs her mother. Her mother is a little startled.

She comes down to see Pawan.

Pawan: “I’m very scared, do you know?”

Bow:”What are you scared about?”

Pawan:”I feared not seeing you ever again.”

Bow:”Why is that something to be scared of.”

He takes her hand. “Because I LOVE you. How many times will I have to tell you for you to understand?”

She pulls her hand away. “Didn’t you tell me before? Once we arrived in Bangkok, everything will not be like before.”

She stands up.

Pawan:”That is correct. What about it?”

Bow makes her big announcement. “My husband is coming back to Thailand.” Ouch!

“We have to leave our dreams over there (in Hong Kong), now we have to fight with the real world. There is no way to return back to the dream.” Bow continued.

Pawan:”So you have decided to reconcile with your husband?”

Bow starts to tear up. “What ever I decide, it is my personal matter. To not let things be more complicated, you need to forget everything.”

Pawan:”Do you just see me as a [something I have never heard of]. A thing that can easily forget things. I have thoughts, feelings, and a heart, you know.”

Bow:”But you must be able to because I have made my decision. I choose my husband.”

She walks away crying, leaving him stunned.

Pawan seeks solace with his female bar buddy. He needs to make a decision to end or not. Pawan’s friend said that Bow went to far but Pawan defended Bow saying it was a good thing she was brutally honest with him.

I really do dislike this father and daughter pair. He is sincere, she is not. I’m definitely not ‘fake’ around my parents, how can you be? I am my true self around them. I don’t understand her.

blah-ness.

Miss Bow finally came to work. He rushes to the elevator to catch her.

He stares at her as they ride up the elevator.

He follows her to her office and begs her to talk to him. She refuses. “What else is there to talk about, my husband is arriving in Bangkok this afternoon, I must excuse myself from work to pick him up. What more don’t you understand?”

He doesn’t say anything.

Bow:”If you continue to make me feel uncomfortable, I will quit today.”

She tears up and walks away, leaving him in disarray.

Not sure what she wants to do, Pawan gives Nian an option of sampling every position in his compnay. He prefers she finds something she likes than getting a position she will regret later and quit. How nice. Real life is definitely  not that convenient. So he gives her a tour around his company, meeting all the department heads.

She still can’t decide.

She can start tomorrow in whatever department she wants.

Pawan had arranged an emergency meeting with Bow’s department that day, knowing too well  Tao was coming back that day. Instead of going to the meeting, Bow left to pick up Tao. Bow instructed her secretary to attend the meeting in her place. Her secretary felt a little scared, but Bow assured her they are not doing anything wrong. She had alerted everyone in her department of her plans beforehand. There is nothing to be scared about.

When Bow doesn’t come to her meeting and her secretary came in her place, Pawan canceled the meeting and storms out. Everyone was like, WTF?

Awkwardness, Bow picks up Tao.

Tao is going home to visit his mother and begs Bow to come along too. They need to pretend for his mother.
