My new obsession, forget ‘Namtan Mai (Burnt Sugar)’ and ‘Dok Bua Kao (White lotus)’, Ching Chang rocks! To honest with everyone, I haven’t been keeping up with this lakorn, so I don’t know what the hey-lo is up. From episode 1-32, it was a whole lot crazy and I was not watching that–sibling rivalry, betrayal, prostitutes, murder, attempted murder, loads of sex (nothing wrong with that), sisters trying to steal each others’ husbands, using black magic to seduce the woman you love, what the fudge? Lets just say the first half of ‘Ching Chang’ was all sorts of loony. I couldn’t keep up.
Then the second half came along, oh, so refreshing! Loving those young actors, I’m just smitten with the second generation!
The second generation, all roughly 18 years old:
Yongchai—’Ball’ Vittawats Sigklumpong
Atit—’Pookhai’ Phongsiree Banluewong
Ging Gaanda—Aerin Siripon
Koi Kalaya— ‘Toey’ Jarinporn Junkiat
Arisa—’Mae’ Paweesuda Janket (Mae the Star 4)
Sanchai—Detbodin Chaithongdee
Atit is Aree (Pang Ornjira) and Ping (‘Num’Uttaporn Teemakorn)’s son. Aree abandoned Atit when he was a baby to marry a wealthy man. She has a daughter name Arisa with her new husband. Atit is raised by his aunt Im (Jieb Sopitnapa) and he does know the identity of his biological mother via pictures. He believes his father Ping is dead, dude is still alive.
Yongchai is Yod (Captain Puthanate) and Oon (‘Pim’ Pimmada Borriruksooppakorn)’s son, I’m not too sure though. You can tell by his personality is very much like his parents, bold and mischievous. Like Atit, he is raised by his aunt Im. Yongchai does not know the identity of his biological father, but he does have contact with his mother to whom he resents because she is a prostitute. Oon adores her son and visits him often bearing gifts. He would usually throw all her gifts away.
Ging Gaanda and Koi Kalaya are Yod’s daughters. From episode 35, we learn that Ging is not biologically related to Yod but he loves her like his own. Koi, she is his daughter. Also, in the second half of “Ching Chang”, Yod has amnesia.
Sanchai is some hoodlum, not related to this crazy family.
So Arisa, Atit, Yongchai, Koi are maternally related, they are all cousins. And, attending the same university.
The 4 sisters: 3rd eldest Bang-On (Ann), 2nd eldest Oon (Pim), eldest Im (Jieb), youngest Aree (Pang). The mothers of the second generation.
—
The second generation appeared on episode 33 with the introduction of Yongchai (Ball) and Atit (Pookhai), paddling a boat ashore as their aunt Im calls out for them.
My dear friend, you must watch episode 33, it was good, love Ball, great young actor with major mega-star potential. This uni-brow actor will blow you away. Trust me.

The powerful scene starts off with Bang-On (Ann) arriving to her sister Im’s house.
Bang-On is dropped off by her husband, the country deputy. The husband and wife pair have an argument about his love for other women. He alerts her that he is going to the provinces for work, she doesn’t believe him.
Bang-On:”Going to the provinces. Come one, where really are you going to? Don’t think that I don’t know about your other wives.”
Her husband:”But you are my legally wife, the mistress of this county and we don’t even have children together. Just to have this much, are you not happy?”
—Bang-On and her husband have a lot issues, she forced him to marry her when she became pregnant with his child. When she suffered a miscarriage before they married and she did not alert him, he resented her ever since. They really have a fudged up marriage, he hates her. He never wanted to marry her or take responsibility for the child until other forced him to.
He starts to walk away and she runs up to him and pulls him back. “How can you say those things to me?”
Before he could answer, Im and her two nephews interrupted them. Bang-On’s husband rudely makes a remake to Im that she should give Bang-On a lecture about not being such a nag. He, then turns to Bang-On and insults her:”You are just my legal wife, you can’t even give me children. Don’t be too fussy, it’s annoying!”–Wow, she has such a lovely husband!
He walks away and Bang-On annoyingly calls out to him. He ignores her. Bang-On turns around and her two nephews Yongchai and Atit give her a ‘hello’ wai.
“Hello, aunty.” They say in unison.
Rather embarrassed with the argument she just had with her husband, she lashes out her anger on her nephews.
“What are you looking at, you crow’s children?”
Im uttered Bang-On’s name in discontentment.
Yongchai was rather annoyed and asked his aunt, “who are you calling that to?”
Bang-On:”Who would I be talking about, two crows abandoning their young for another crow to care for.”—Yes, I know, I translated it oddly.
“Atit is Aree’s son, the one she abandoned. As for Yongchai, his mother couldn’t raise him because she was too busy catering to her customers in the brothel.” Bang-On continued.
Wow, what a bitch! Yongchai was about to beat her ass, luckily Atit and Im were able to hold him back.
Im had to calm him down. She, then, turned to her sister and scolded her. “you can stop now, this is fall rom the past. Why are you bringing this up again?”
Bang-On:”How can I not be hurt? The reason I can’t have children and had a miscarriage is because of who?”
Bang-On looked at her two nephews and pointed at them, “the reason why is because of their mothers.”
Yongchai:”No, that is not the reason. It’s because you are evil and no one wants to be born as your child.”
“Is your mother so great? You must be really proud that your mother is a prostitute.” Bang-On fired back at her nephew Yongchai.
With that said, Yongchai leaped with anger and Atit had to hold him back.
Im had to calm him down again. “I said to calm down, stop it right now.’ She urged him.
To cool down the tension between nephew and aunt, Im had to pull her sister away for a chat.
Im scolded her younger sister and warned her if she ever mentioned Oon’s profession to Yongchai again, she will prohibit her from coming to the house.

The two cousins are way too cute.
Raging with anger, Yongchai stumps his way to a bench under a tree and his older cousin Atit follows him.
Atit tried to cool his younger cousin down. “Aunt Bang-On has never liked us since the beginning. Don’t think too much.”
Yongchai:”But it’s hurtful. Every time she comes to the house, she has to bring up that issue. It hurts me, it embarrasses me to have a mother who is not like other mothers.”
Yongchai stands up. “Why, P’Atit? Why must she make a living that way? Why doesn’t she have consideration for other people and wonder how they might feel?”–Yongchai doesn’t know that the reason his mother remains in prostitution is because of debt. She murdered a man and her pimp witnessed the crime. To keep the murder a secret, she became indebted to her pimp.
Bad timing! Just as the two young men are talking, Oon (Yongchai’s mother) arrives and she has gifts.
“Yongchai, my son! Where is your grandmother and your aunt Im, I brought presents for everyone.” She walked over to Yongchai with a big smile.
She looks at Atit. “I brought something for you too.”
She gives Atit his gift and tenderly stares at her son Yongchai.
Yongchai is raging with resentment at this point, he shakes his head once, sighs, and walks away.
His mother calls out to him and follows him.

Yongchai is stopped by his aunt Im, “Sweetie, what happened?”
He doesn’t answer her. Oon takes hold of his arm, “what is the reason you’re angry with me?”
Simply and quietly he answers, ‘let go’.
Slowly, she does. So sad. Oon ignores the rudeness and starts searching through her bags.
“Your Aunt Im wrote me a letter saying you passed your college entrance exam, so I brought you a gift.”
She brings out a red pen case and touches his hand. She places the red pen case in his hand, he flings his hand back and the case drops to the floor.
“I don’t want this.” he tells her.
Im was pretty upset by the rudeness and scolded Yongchai. “Apologize to your mother Oon right now.” She ordered.
Yongchai turns to look at his biological mother Oon, she smiles at him and quickly picked up the pen case. “Please accept this, my son.” She said in a longing matter.
Again, he drops the pen case on the floor. “I told you, I don’t want this.”
He starts to walk away again, Im stops him. “She is your mother, you know. How can you do this to her? Apologize to her right now!”
His eyes filled with tears and he says nothing. To calm the situation down, Oon tells her older sister, “it’s okay, if he doesn’t want it, it’s alright.”
Im refuses to let his rudeness gone, she replied:”No, it’s not alright. I will not let Yongchai do this to his own mother. Yongchai, bow down and apologize to your mother right now.”
He complies. He drops to his knee and begins to do a bow wai, Oon stops him.
Oon:”It’s alright my son, I have never been angry with you.”
She tries to pat his head, he moves his head back.
Yongchai hurtfully told his mother, “the reason I did that is because mother Im ordered me to. I have only one mother and it’s mother Im. I didn’t want to disappoint her.”
Quickly he got up and scurried away. Wow, that was hurtful.
In the background, Bang-on smiled with glee. You know, I kinda wanted to punch her in the face at that moment. Not trying to be violent or anything, gloating at other people’s misfortunes, not cool. You should get a slap or a punch for that.

Atit follows Yongchai to his room, he tries to comfort his younger brother. I just adore this cousin pair.
“You know your mother Oon loves you very much.”
Yongchai:”But I hate her.”
Atit:”You are very lucky to have a mother who loves you that much.”
Yongchai:”Is it really fortunate to have a mother do things that are hateful, you are not me, you will never understand how embarrassing it is.”

Yongchai knocks down a stack of books as he stood up. His cousin Atit starts cleaning up the mess and happened to see a picture of his mother and his aunts bookmarked in a book. Atit takes the picture and stood up abruptly.
Atit with emotion:”All that I know is that Aunt Oon loves you very much, no matter how much you are rude to her, she has never been angry with you. Every new year, all your birthdays, she goes out and buys you good presents though she knows you will throw them away. Still she does it. She does it every time without skipping.”
Feeling guilty, Yongchai drops a tear. Aw!
Atit turns his cousin around. “Yongchai, if I have a mother like yours, I would be very happy. It’s better than having a mother who abandoned her child as an infant and never looked back, not even once. She never cared about how her child looked, what his name was…she never cared whether her child is still living or whether he has passed away.”

Atit starts to tear up too. He sinks down to the floor and thinks about his predicament. Awww, his cousin Yongchai consoles him by placing his hand on his shoulder indicating that though Atit’s mother does not want him, he still has a cousin who will have his back for eternity. awww. way cute.
After that, the whole family went to the temple together. From the new head monk In (Pepper), these two young men need to be cautious, especially Yongchai. At the age of 18, Yongchai will meet a person who is biologically linked to him, who will bring him misfortune and fortune. He needs to be cautious.
