From unnoticable side actor to pra’ek

Tle Thanapol has come a long way. Still, he doesn’t feel like a star, he’s just another guy. He prefers it that way, he told Komchadluek newspaper during an interview.
Yes, as a kid, he was chubby. Last Friday (11/6/09), the cast of “Buang Rai Prai Ruk (The trap of evil is defeated by love)” appeared on the “Every day, you’re still sweet” variety show on Ch7 and they showed Tle’s chubby childhood picture. He was teased he said. As he got older, he decided to lose the weight. Girls don’t like chubby guys.
As I was going through his interview with Komchadleuk newspaper, I don’t think acting is his passion, it’s ‘work’ for him. The fame, the glamor, I honestly don’t think he cares.
His interview:
-How was your life before you entered the entertainment industry?
Tle: Before I entered the entertainment industry, I was just another normal kid who had went to school and studied. To start from the beginning, I was a normal young student. Then by chance, I got an opportunity to do a fashion show, then a photo-spread, and then endorsements, that’s how I got started in the industry. At the beginning, I felt it wasn’t me because I enjoyed motor engines and fixing cars more so. As time passes, I got used to it. It made me realized that the entertainment industry was worth venturing into and had plenty of fun things to do.
-Can you tell us a bold story from your school days?
Tle: When I was a student in the Benchama Rat Rangsarit School in Chachoengsao Province, I would be sent to the administration office repeatedly. I was a naughty kid. My mother would give me a whooping always. This one time, I had a slip up. I went to court a lesbian. I thought she was cute, so I sent her flowers. Back then, we didn’t use cellphone yet. We passed notes but never call. Finally, I got her house number and I called her. She asked who I was, why am I calling, and she said she didn’t want to talk to me. I thought it was strange but didn’t think too much of it. Then I became suspicious when I saw her with a girl and they kissed each other on the cheek. It was very obvious. I thought to myself you failed. I didn’t feel bad after that (laughs).
-How did you get started in the entertainment industry?
Tle: Modeling, I met my now ex-manager and started doing fashion shows. As for lakorns, I started with Polypus. My first lakorn was “Ruk Hansa Karaoke (Delightful love Karaoke), I played P’Dia (Nadia Nimitwanich)’s ex-boyfriend. Now I’m completely under Polypus.
-What does your family think about your profession?
Tle: At the beginning, they were not supportive. My family is from the provinces and you have to be into cars. Then I come to Bangkok to chose a line of work that dealt with cars and I became an actor. They didn’t like it too much. They wanted me to be a government official, everyone in my family are government officials. Because I was their only child, they decided to let me do what I wanted. But they told me beforehand, they will only pay for my schooling, everything else, I must do on my own. Whatever I wanted, whatever I did, things of that nature, they let me have my freedom. I think I’ve chosen the right path. My mother is proud of me and is starting to support my profession.
-Your relationship with your family, are you close with your parents? A lot or not at all?
Tle: I have a close relationship with my parents. However, I’m more close to my father than my mother. Because when I was young, my father never hit me, my mother did often. My parents live in the Paet Riw, Chachoengsao province. When they are free, they visit. When I’m free, I would visit them at the house. Right now, I don’t have time.
-Since you have entered the entertainment industry, how has life change for you?
Tle:Every area in my life has greatly changed, from my responsibilities, my work, and my status. My life is very plain, it’s not striking at all. I live my life like a normal person. At the house, I would wear t-shirts, muscle shirts, and shorts. Everyday, my hands would be dirtied with motor oil. I enjoyed working on cars, things of that nature. However, I don’t like it more than my work now (laughs). I only like working on cars as a hobby. My life has changed somewhat. In the entertainment industry, you work a lot and don’t have breaks often, thus your personal life decreases. Consequently, to have more people know you and follow your work, it gives you encouragement to move forward.
-Thus far, your work has been popular and people recognize you more.
Tle:There are more people who know me now, it is a good thing. It’s an encouragement. I just want to say, please continue to follow up on my projects. I’m doing my best, I’m improving. What I have said, I’m more daring to improve myself, show myself more, have more fanclub members. However, it will never change my attitude. To this day, I am trying my best like always, trying to make it the best.
-Other leading men in the industry have made headlines (negative news), you have been silent.
Tle: I tend to conduct myself in an oridinary way, I’m just a regular person. I like things that are oridinary. I like t-shirts, jeans, and I don’t go out much. Thus, there hasn’t been news about me.
-Tell us about your previous works, what were they?
Tle: My work…Ruk Hansa Karaoke(Delightful Love Karaoke ), Dang Duang Hareuthai, Suay Lak Sai, Aphimaheuma Maha Setthi (A Pancake and Stefan lakorn), Ruk Tae Gae Dai (True love can mend it), Soo Saeng Tawan (Fighting for the Spotlight), Plik Fah La Tawan. Most often, people would tease me–most characters I play are similar. If I’m not playing a poor person, I’m a police officer. If not, I’m an orphan. I guess my face portrays an unlucky person.
-People started to notice you in Dang Duang Hareutai.
Tle:That’s correct. I played the character Rachit. At that time, people noticed me greatly. It was my break out role because after that people recognize me from the lakorn. Since then, I have been consistently in lakorns.
-Now you have been in a lot of lakorns, do you have a fan club?
Tle: I do have a fanclub, they’re very lovable. When I go to events, they go cheer for me. If I tell them, they all go. They have even brought desserts to my lakorn sets. It would be handed out to this person and that. They made a website for me too. Occasionally, I go in there. Mostly every two weeks. I would make posts and tell everyone to take good care of their healths. Because I finish work late, I haven’t been in there often.
-Can you describe Pancake, your nang’ek in “Buang Rai Prai Ruk”?
Tle: I think Pancake is a calm person, very quiet, occasionally she is cheerful. But when it is time to work, she is very focus on working. In the lakorn, I give her the nickname “Angel” because she is beautiful, talented, and has everything. She is able to do everything. As for myself, I’ll just be a normal person.
-You have a new lakorn coming up, can you tell us about it?
Tle:That’s correct, it’s called “Hong Fa (Heavenly Swan)”. This lakorn, we just had our fitting. I’m paired with ‘Kwan’ Usamanee Waitayanon, I’m the pra’ek. I play a police lieutenant like always. I want to tell you right now, I’m going to be poor, I’ve lost my parents, that is my character in the lakorn. I will live in the slums of Khang Wat and protect the nang’ek since I was kid. We watch edover each other, we are like siblings. Are relationship started as a sibling relationship. As we got older, we separated because of school I studied to be a police officer. Once I graduated, I returned to her side and our relationship developed into more. Also, I will help her look for her long lost parents.
They showed baby pictures of Pancake also.
“Buang Rai Prai Ruk (The trap of evil is defeated by love)” cast

“Did you copy and paste or did you really write all that lyn??”
Yes, I wrote all of that. Everything on my blog, I wrote. I wish their is a place to copy and paste from. HAHA. That would be great, it would make my life easier.
Actually this post could have been longer, I cut a few Q/A from the article because I felt they were boring.
