Introducing Leila Carmen Bishop

[They look so happy and tired]

‘Cindy’ Sirinya Burbridge has given birth to her daughter to whom she named ‘Leila’ Carmen Bishop this past Monday December 28, 2009 at the Samitivey Sukhumvit hospital in Bangkok. Leila came into this world weighing 3300 grams (7.2lbs).

The first time she saw her daughter she was surprised by her appearance. “I was pregnant for 9 months and have been waiting to see how my child would look like. When I saw my child, I asked, huh? Did I make this (laughs). Who does she look like? I still can’t believe this is my child. I gave  birth to her naturally and it was very tiring. I was in labor for 40 hours. I felt contractions since Saturday evening, it came every 10 minutes. That night, I thought I would have given birth to her. I wanted to wait until the contractions were 5 minutes a part or if my water broke. But that night, the contractions only went to 7 minutes a part. It wasn’t 5 minutes a part so it wasn’t the right time.”

Cindy’s labor pains continued on to Sunday evening and then finally Monday morning, she gave birth. She was in labor for 45 hours and didn’t sleep for 57 hours.

Cindy plans to breast feed her daughter for a year. “I plan to breast feed my child for at least a year. Right now, I am only giving her breast milk and she has a big appetite. She is hungry every 30 minutes. This hospital is like a  baby family because after giving birth they don’t take your child away. She stays with me  and is learning to find the nipple on her own, it’s like the first lesson in her life to find it on her own. Once she finds it, oh oh, she is one expert sucker (laughs). She doesn’t let go and does her own mother harm. At night, we stay with our child together. During the night, if she wakes, we both wake. I give her milk and then give her to Byron (her hubby). He comforts her or change her diaper. He’s an expert now.”

This couple is way too sweet and taking their parenting responsibilities seriously. That is why people you should wait until you’re ready and in a stable relationship.

Be fair, says Aff

Aff broke up with her ex-boyfriend “Or” Yuthawun Rathanaporn of 12 years a long time ago, the middle of the year, revealed Aff to Khaosod Newspaper in an interview. She just didn’t tell anyone because they didn’t ask. The media assumed they were still dating and kept asking her about marriage and weddings. She avoided by the question by answering that she was not ready for marriage yet. Aff said they tried several times to work things out, they tried their darndest, it just wasn’t meant to be. She even hinted of infidelity from his part as the reason for their break up.

Now that she is with Songkran Techanarong, people might disapprove, but they should be fair, she pleaded. She is not doing anything wrong.

The Q&A from the interview:

Q: How has the year of the Ox, that is ending soon, been for you?

Aff: The year went completely with work. It was a good thing that after finishing “Namtan Mai (Burnt Sugar)”, I was able to take a break, very different from last year. That was good for the year of the Oz. But for  the next year, I feel very anxious. Next year is the year of the tiger, a chaotic year for me because I was born in the year of the Monkey (laughs). Like we all know, tigers don’t get along with monkeys.

October Sonata bombed

“October Sonata or Ruk Tee Ror Koi (Love that waits)” ain’t gonna make it, wrote a person at Pantip forum. Thai people do not like sappy romance drama, the person argued. What about Anne Thongprasom’s movie “the Letter”, asked another Pantip member. It, too, is a sappy romance drama, it did pretty well. The argument continued– they didn’t promote the film well enough, it’s too Korean I can’t stomach it wrote another person. They did promote the film well enough, said another member. So well, they’re tired of hearing about it

Whatever the reason, “Koy” Ratchawin Wongviriya’s latest film “October Sonata or Ruk Tee Ror Koi (Love that waits)” bombed at the Thai box office. Five days in, it has only made 4.1 million baht ($122,913 USD). That’s pretty bad according to these people.

I kinda wanna watch it now after listening to the OST. I have Boyd Kosiyabong’s song for the film,  “So Very Far Apart” on instant replay on my Ipod. You can download the song here.

Top 5 grossing Thai films of 2009

Yea, yea, Ken Theeradeth is reigning supreme once again, this time in the big screen. Ken’s latest film venture, “A Bangkok Traffic Love Story or I rode a skytrain to see you”, which made 145.4 million baht (4.35 million USD) in theaters, is Thailand’s top grossing film for 2009.

Who would have thought a romance film would be the top grossing film for 2009, said the article. On its first day out, the film made 15.1 million baht ($452,231 USD), a record for the highest grossing first day earnings for a film in Thai box office history, the record was previously set by “5 Praeng (5 Phobias or 5 Junctions)” in September with 15 million baht.

“A Bangkok Traffic Love story” exceeded everyone’s expectations and more, the average first day earnings for a Thai romance film usually falls in 5-6 million baht range, the film tripled that amount. The film also did wonders for Cris Horwang (the leading actress for the film)’s career. Before she was just an actress, now she’s a recognizable Thai celebrity.

The horror flick “5 Praeng (5 Phobias or 5 Junctions)”, the sequel to “4 Praeng (4 Phobias or 4 Junctions)”,  is ranked second with the current total earning of 113.5 million baht (3.4 million USD). The film is comprised of 5 horror stories directed by 5 different renown Thai directors connecting into one film.

Not only was  “5 Praeng” a hit in Thailand, it was a hit internationally, topping box offices in Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. It also made the youngest star of the film,  14 year old ‘Kao’ Jirayu La-ongmanee the new ‘it’ boy. I concur, he is the new ‘it’ boy.

The rest:

In 3rd: “Wongkamlao”, a comedy directed by Petchthai “Mum Jokmok” Wongkamlao, starring Jakajan Akumsiri as the lead actress. It made more than 97 million baht (2.9 million USD).

4th:”Saranae Huapeng”-a prank reality show film from Willy McIntosh, “Ple” Nakorn Silachai, and Kietisak “Hoi” Udomnak. It made 96 million baht (2.87 million USD).

5th: “Yam Yasothorn 2 (Hello, Yasothon 2)” directed by comedian Petchthai “Mum Jokmok” Wongkamlao, starring his daughter Em Busarakham and Tattoo Color’s lead singer “Dim” Harin Suthamjaras as the leading couple. The film which premiered 2 months ago has made roughly 88 million baht (2.6 million USD). Because of its successful, Somsak “Sia Jiang” Techaratanaprasert, head honcho of Sahamongkol films, has given the green light for a third installment. I look forward to it.

Oil Thana loved Joy Rinlanee the best

Say what? They dated? I didn’t know that and apparently he loved Joy Rinlanee the best out of all his former girlfriends too. HOLY!

Airing this Sunday on the Modern 9 channel, Oil Thana will appear on the “Woody: Gert Mai Kui (Woody: Born to Chat)” show to talk about love and work. During the interview, Woody asked Oil a question that caught him off guard. Out of all his former girlfriends, did he love Joy Rinlanee the best. Oil was stunned and did not answer but did nod to agree and even teared up. HOLY! I’m definitely watching it now. Love the suspenseful drama.

On the show, Oil explained to Woody why he has been private about his relationships.

“I don’t like to talk about others whether it be good or bad. When a couple breaks up, it’s usually the woman who loses face. I think it’s a personal issue between two individuals. ” he told Woody.

Oil even shared his past relationships to Woody without giving names. “My longest relationship was 4 years and my shortest was 1 year. I loved each person I have dated. If I’m in a relationship and she is not the one, I don’t resist it. Most of the time, I did the dumping. Sometimes the woman wants to ask to break up but does not dare to say anything. I think it is the responsibility of the man to say something. Then it will not turn out as bad as it could be. It is the best option. Mostly, when I break up with someone, it’s about personality–different people, different style, and it doesn’t go together. At the beginning, it’s about promoting the relationship, everything is beautiful.”

Woody asked Oil if he was too private with his girlfriends, meaning he kept his guard up even with them. He said yes. “I tried my best, I’m a person who is not a good talker. I’m a still person, who doesn’t speak all the time. If they understand, then it’s okay. Some don’t understand and think I’m angry at them or sulking. The truth is, it’s nothing. Right now, I’m single, I have no girlfriend. Before, I did not date for very long time, now I date longer. I don’t want to be hurt and I don’t want to hurt other people because of my unsureness. I think it is best to date someone to whom you are sure of.”

Has Oil ever cried over love? According to Oil, heck yea!

“Yes, I have. I’m naturally a weepy guy. Most of the time, it’s when we don’t understand each other. I’m a person who is not a good talker. I don’t talk, I just take action more so.”

Oil said that when he dates someone, he likes to go out rather than saying home. He loves to watch movies, usually he likes to go on movie dates–dinner and then a movie. Nowadays he doesn’t do that often because of the paparazzi. He stays home more, he doesn’t want the paparazzi to take a picture of his girlfriend, if he was dating someone. That’s depressing, people are just invading his privacy.

It’s rare to see Oil talk about his personal life, you better enjoy it for all its worth, Oil fans.

UPDATE:

Holy, I just watched the Woody and Oil interview and YES Oil did tear up when she answered the question that out of all his former girlfriends, he loved  Joy Rinlanee the best.  He loves her because she knows how to be her own person. He once asked her why she loved him, she answered that she loves him for him. Not because he is Oil Thana, the pop idol or actor. She was his longest relationship, they dated for 4 years. When he went to the army, he wrote to her everyday. Wah!

A clip from the show where he said that he loved Joy the best, the most, the utmost.
