Introducing Leila Carmen Bishop

[They look so happy and tired]

‘Cindy’ Sirinya Burbridge has given birth to her daughter to whom she named ‘Leila’ Carmen Bishop this past Monday December 28, 2009 at the Samitivey Sukhumvit hospital in Bangkok. Leila came into this world weighing 3300 grams (7.2lbs).

The first time she saw her daughter she was surprised by her appearance. “I was pregnant for 9 months and have been waiting to see how my child would look like. When I saw my child, I asked, huh? Did I make this (laughs). Who does she look like? I still can’t believe this is my child. I gave  birth to her naturally and it was very tiring. I was in labor for 40 hours. I felt contractions since Saturday evening, it came every 10 minutes. That night, I thought I would have given birth to her. I wanted to wait until the contractions were 5 minutes a part or if my water broke. But that night, the contractions only went to 7 minutes a part. It wasn’t 5 minutes a part so it wasn’t the right time.”

Cindy’s labor pains continued on to Sunday evening and then finally Monday morning, she gave birth. She was in labor for 45 hours and didn’t sleep for 57 hours.

Cindy plans to breast feed her daughter for a year. “I plan to breast feed my child for at least a year. Right now, I am only giving her breast milk and she has a big appetite. She is hungry every 30 minutes. This hospital is like a  baby family because after giving birth they don’t take your child away. She stays with me  and is learning to find the nipple on her own, it’s like the first lesson in her life to find it on her own. Once she finds it, oh oh, she is one expert sucker (laughs). She doesn’t let go and does her own mother harm. At night, we stay with our child together. During the night, if she wakes, we both wake. I give her milk and then give her to Byron (her hubby). He comforts her or change her diaper. He’s an expert now.”

This couple is way too sweet and taking their parenting responsibilities seriously. That is why people you should wait until you’re ready and in a stable relationship.
