“Roses Above the cloud” not good for kids

There has been two articles from Thairath newspaper describing Noon Woranuch and “Aum” Patcharapa Chaichuea’s lakorn “Kulap Neua Mek (Roses Above the cloud)” as a bad influence on kids and inappropriate for society. Advocate against the lakorn say it promotes sex, violence, and inappropriate behavior–they disapprove of Aum and Noon’s body hugging clothes and short skirts and the constant verbal and physical fighting from Aum and Noon over one guy.

It’s a big debate right now generating hundreds of comments from the public at Kapook.com where the article has been re-posted.

Both articles here and here in Thai. One article is about local market merchants discussing how the lakorn “Roses above the cloud” is bad for their children and how they are seeing big behavioral changes in their kids after watching the lakorn. Apparently some of the kids are imitating what they see. The other article is about how this lakorn is dangerous for kids.

It’s just a lakorn. However, I wouldn’t mind them cutting back on the bitch slapping between Aum and Noon, usually I don’t mind, but it’s just way too much. As one person mentioned in the comment section (comment #476), “in the lakorn, they have to slap each other every 5 minutes over a guy (the person used “husband”), it’s just sex and violence throughout the whole story. To watch it, it terrifies the mind.” As for the clothes, it is pretty skimpy. Again, normally I don’t mind, but as their characters in the lakorn are career women who own a magazine company, they could at least wear a business suit once in awhile or skirts that fall below the knee. I actually want to be more crude, but I’ll keep my opinions to myself. “Kulap Neua Mek (Roses Above the cloud)” is not bad or good, it’s just a lakorn. It just seems like Ch7 is always in trouble with the public. Kom Faek was too violent. Mia Luang is bad for society and promotes extramarital affairs. Shrugs. I don’t watch lakorns to gain any life lessons, I watch lakorns for pure enjoyment. I do see merits in their concerns; however, I do think they are overacting.

It was mentioned in the comment section that Thai lakorns is going down in the dumpster where as Korean dramas, which don’t have crazy bitch slaps are rising in popularity, and all of Thailand loves Korean dramas.  Oh great, the big debate wages on, is Korean dramas better than Thai lakorns?

I’ll translate the full article and comments when I get back. Or not.

Tang Saksit wants to be single forever!

Forty-two year old Tang Saksit, our favorite pra’ek from back in the day and the star Bang Ruk Soi 9″, a sitcom with Aom Piyada, told reporters he wanted to be single forever but confessed he has thought about his wedding would be. That makes no sense. Of course he was joking. Considering his age and his frequent rumors with young girls, people want to know when he will stop fooling around and get marry. Also, a psychic has predicted his fated lover is a widower, so of course, reporters had to ask them about that.

“Right now, my heart is beating normally. I’m currently waiting because a psychic predicted that my soulmate is a widower. I started counting since January. Do I believe it? I don’t know. He probably has his own method. Every other psychic probably has data very similar to each other. I’m just waiting to see because predictions are all in the future. Being alone it’s normal and difficult. Now what would it be like to be with a widower?” Said Tang.

Are you concern about your single life? “I’m not quite concern but it’s not quite okay.”

Is it because you’re too picky? “It’s more about fear. I’m getting older and I become more worried because I feel pressured, I have a new responsibility, how am I going to deal with it? I’m a person who fears what I don’t know. I have this fear occasionally.”

Is your spec (specification) someone who is older? “Probably so, since she is my soulmate, I’ll probably like her and  there will be no restrictions to our feelings.”

What about the widower?”Sounds cute. It will be a person who has had experience in life. Whenever there is a problem, she can fix it on her own. And she can be flexible with issues.”

Has your friends been cheering for you to find a girl? “All of them, they have been trying to set me up.”

That girl at the soccer match, how was she? “Oh, they are still cheering.”

Have you meet up with that girl again? “I have, she is very cute. But we’re not talking to her, I’m just glancing.”

Will you go forward with this? “She’s cute, appears proper, very shy. When it comes to acting on it, I’m not good with that. I’m more of an expert when it comes to rubbish things.”

Have you ever thought about getting married? “No, I have not, I have thought about how my wedding will be. Like for example it will be on a boat.”

The supposed mistress and the wife

There is just way too much smut in the news, I don’t know what is fact or fiction. The latest on Pinky Savika is quite disturbing–Pinky was seen boarding a plane to Japan with “Pek” Sanchai Engtrakul (Tanya Ramnarong’s husband). The media is gossiping that Pinky and Pek are having an affair. Pinky denies the claim that she is Pek’s mistress and no, she did not go with him to JAPAN. Her family was there also. Coincidentally, they met at the airport and she greeted him because they know each other.

At the launch of ‘Stefan’ Tasit Sinkanawiwat and ‘Namfon’ Kullanat Preeyawat’s health magazine “Good Health…Good Life 2010″, “Tanya” Tanyares Ramnarong came out to defend Pinky.

“That day, P’Pek went to Japan for work. He even called to tell me he was coming back the same time as Pinky. When I heard about the news, I felt indifferent because before, Pinky coincidentally met Aum (Atichart) at a shop there (in Japan) and they got close soon after. This time, people saw and they thought Pinky was having an affair. Likewise with P’Pek, he is like a ‘logo’, anyone who is near him, there is news,” Tanya explained to the reporters.

The reporters then asked Pinky how she felt to see Tanya there, Pinky said it felt fine.

“It feels fine, I have not seen her in a long time. It will give us an opportunity to clear everything. I want them to understand each other completely.”

Do you feel relieved?

Pinky:”I feel relaxed like always. I’m conducting myself normally. Before, I used to go to their shop often.”

How do you feel to have news like this?

Pinky:”I felt startled because it is a very serious news and people have been calling me to ask all sorts of questions. If it is not true, then it will end.”

Tanya felt a sense of pity for Pinky and said, “I feel for her. If anyone had a rumor with a person who had a family, it’s severe. I pity her. Whoever has a news like this, I feel sympathy for them.”

Tanya have you discuss this with Pek?

“I discuss them with him frequently that he has news. He said he is not a celebrity. Why are their so many news? (Do you think he is worried about Pinky?) He hasn’t said anything. He just said this kind of news is not good. Truthfully he is very concern about our daughter than I am. Right now, she doesn’t know anything, but what about when she gets older?”

Pinky have you talked to P’Pek? “I saw him at the airport. He’s my senior. When he sees me, he smacks my head because he sees me as a younger sibling. We saw each other and talked normally. Since I have returned, I have not talk to him because of the news.”

The interview concluded with Tanya explaining to the reporters that she is not concern because there is nothing to be concern about. If she was a person who thought too much, they would have ended their relationship a long time ago.
