Did Waii plagiarized Mariah Carey?
People are hearing similarities between Mariah Carey’s song “Touch My Body” and Thai wannabe R&B singer Waii’s song “Love you no more” from her solo album “Play Girl”. Now the question is this, did Waii plagiarized Mariah Carey? Did she? Probably. NO, I’m just joking, I don’t know. But then you have to think, she is from the girl group “Seven Days”, Thailand’s answer to Korea’s SNSD and Wonder Girls combined. If her record company, RS records, is willing to copy Korean acts, they are capable of more. She might not know she is copying another artist but her producers might be doing it intentionally thinking that Thais won’t know the difference.
Of course, Waii doesn’t think her song is similar to Mariah Carey’s. “The truth is I’m an R&B singer myself and Mariah Carery is a R&B singer I most admire. She is a talented R&B singer. It could be because our songs have a melisma (a passage of several notes sung to one syllable of text), thus it makes other people think our songs sound very similar. But I don’t think they are the same. Another thing, there is only 12 notes. When you make up a song, you have to mix and match the notes, it might sound similar. I can assure you, we did not copy.”
Waii is not hurt that she has been accuse of something like this. In this industry, it’s normal. “Something like this is normal. I don’t think it’s the truth and that is why I’m not serious about it. I want to share my views and say that we did not copy from anyone. I do want to have my own identity as an artist.”
Reporters noted that Waii has appeared more sexier in this album, her solo venture. Waii said she has grown up more. Girl, you’re only 16 years old. Have you really grown up? HA! Yah right!
Reporters then asked if the reason she is changing her innocent look to a more sexier one is because her innocent look didn’t sell. “I’m only 16 years old, I still have my innocence. For this album, I wanted to try something different,” argued Waii.
Yes, Panyarisa “Waii” Thienprasit is the Thai singer who had a rumor with Junsu of 2PM.
Mariah Carey’s song “Touch My Body”
Waii’s song “Love you no More”—what a fobbish song title.
I swear I heard 50 Cent “something special” around the 1:00 time mark, then you see Waii shaking her ass. Did anyone else hear that? What an odd placement of 50 Cent! All of sudden, you hear 50 Cent’s voice say “Something SPECIAL.” I thought it was a remix, but it’s not. Really, that’s part of the original track.

That babe is just amazing, I mean a lot seems to think she is dumb but that’s just an act, it does require some skills to become one of the most famous people in the world.

A lot of American’s Artists have plagiarized Asian songs. It’s overlooked because they are huge. Just because they are huge does not mean they sang it first.

Actually there is a law to copying music, however I forgot what it was…but i think it’s something like another song can’t have the same measurement of a note. say for example if waii’s song had the same length of measurement as mariah’s then it is plagiarizing. but if it sounds the same but have different notes then it’s fine. Take Beyonce’s “halo” and kelly clarkson’s “already gone”, both sounds similar but kelly didn’t copy beyonce’s, both song were actually wrote and produce by ryan tedder of one republic. So I really don’t care but if she did really copy it, then too bad for her.

oh this reminds me of jack’s (ex nice2meetu member) recent mv, where he or his producers copied the exact plot of koizora aka sky of love. freaking hilarious!

I knew this would pop up sooner or later, just because I know netizens lol. I’m just a listener so I’ll continue listening to their songs. Whatever legal matters is up to the companies. It’s not really our battle.

So…I think the 50cent snippet sounds like its from the song Ayo Technology. U know how it goes: someth’n special, unforgettable, 50cent, justin, timbaland, god damn! she she want it ….
Other than that, it sounds pretty similar to me but so does pretty much all artists, especially a lot of MC songs sound a bit repetitive to me…

sounds like 50cent to me. let’s hope for them that it’s not him or if not, then hopefully, they actually have permission to use the snippet.
oh, someone had a blonde moment!

Hey, no need to debate over who copies who…Thailand is a land of copies… so it’s rather common to see things like that! Even famous designers copy other designers! And the latest news, Lindsay Lohan compied many designs for her Ungaro designs, and Jessica Simpson copies Christian Louboutin for her line of shoes! So whatever!…
