Man, no one wants the role of “E-Pan”, the sexually explicit female lead of Kai Varayuth’s lakorn “Duangta Sawan (An Eye for Paradise)” for Ch3. “Cherry” Khemupsorn Sirisukha backed out claiming the role was too much for her. Her replacement, Janie Tienposuwan has done the same, citing the same problem. The role is too much–TOO Intense!
“Duangtha Sawan” follows the life of “E-Pan”, a once country bumpkin, turned social climber, who uses her sexuality to get what she wants. It’s not the sass of the character that terrifies these nang’eks, they have the talent to play a sassy character. It’s the sexual immorality of the character that scares them. Kai has said that Janie and other nang’eks fear that they can never play a nang’ek role again if they play “E-Pan”. The stigma of “E-Pan” might ruin their good-girl image. You know how it is, nang’eks are suppose to be pure and innocent.
Janie told Kai, she is still young and not capable of playing this complex role. Kai accepted her decision, but still found it strange because Janie has been acting in lakorns for years, he sees her as a capable actress. But if she doesn’t feel comfortable, he understands.
Since Janie backed out, Kai wants film actress with a reputation, Tak “Volcano boobs” Bongkot Kongmalai for the role. If it doesn’t go through, they should blame the Ch3 elders, he said. He wants her, the Ch3 elders are reluctant. If not her, he wants a fresh face, someone talented, someone bold who can handle the challenges of the “E-Pan” role.
Janie out, ‘Volcano boobs’ might replace. If they don’t find an actress who will accept this role, the lakorn might not happen.
I’m sure both of them like the challenges, but if the roles is too much or over the top when it comes to sex scene beyond the normal then these girls have the right to declined. I don’t believe it has anything to do with their good girl images … but these roles/character is too much and more of a soft-porn-like acting with different male characters, which is not a typical lakorn roles/character either. So isn’t nice to bashed Janie and Cherry when you don’t know or have detail of what the roles involved. I’m sure no amount of money or talents can make someone act or plays a character they are uncomfortable doing. And if you knows more about “E-Pan” characters, you might think differently.
Janie doen’t really take the innocent roles, she takes the feisty and strong but sweet charcters, if she takes this role it might have it’s pro and cons, the public might think of her as a slut but her fans might think she is a talented person who can take any role, i personally don’t know what to think, “volcano boobs” might do a good job but yeah………..
I’m surprised P’Gai would want Tuk. I thought they had huge beef between them a few years ago, it went back and forth in the media. Does anyone know why the character is so immoral? I must say I am rather intrigued now that 2 actresses have turned it down.
i agree with janie. she should not accept this kind of role. that’s too much.
Also, I hope Tak takes the role. Somebody’s gotta get the job done.
I totally agree with “ish”. I guess Janie and other celebs who likes to stick to “innocent” roles in lakorns may be because they’re not so innocent off screen. lol.
If Janie and Cherry are so concerned about playing a sassy role and not ever having a nang’ek role again, then obviously they’re not that talented. There are tons of actresses who have gone both ways and still keep their nang’ek fame. (Like Bee Namthip, Anne Throngprasom, Chompoo Araya, Aom Piyada, etc…) I’ve never been a fan of neither Janie nor Cherry, so it’s not hard for me to criticize, I guess. lol. I mean, you can’t be a nang’ek ALL THE TIME. And eventually their nang’ek days will die out someday if not now. I think when playing a bad role, it’s not about how slutty you come off, it’s about how well and strong you deliver your character. ( :
What Janie a good girl! All I ever hear is about Janie being the third hand in relationships, breaking hearts, and partying. Anyway if the character was even bad to Janie standards than it most be awful. They should rewrite it or drop the lakorn all together. It would probably be bad anyway.
I agree with “ish” that Benz is a great actress because she can take on any role – good or bad. I wonder why P’Kai hasn’t thought of Benz for the role. I think she would be great. Tak Bongkot would be good too. Hey…I thought one of Lyn’s posts said that Joy Rinlanee will be E’Pan? Maybe she refused too.
I watched this lakorn before about 10-15 years ago. The girl who plays Pan was Apirudee – she’s the one who played the pra’ek’s mom on Silamanee.
It was hilarious what Khun Kai said about Janie supposed “innocence” on Daokrachai.
I guess these actresses like to be type cast. I think it would be fun to try something different and if they are truly great actresses they should not have any problems. A change will do them good. A good girl is so boring sometimes. Spice it up!
What I find funny is Janie’s supposed “good girl” image. Maybe in lakorns she is but outside, that could be another story.
I applaud those who can take on challenging roles like this. If it succeeds, it shows another side of their talent, if it doesn’t, then at least they can say that they ventured out of the norm. I don’t agree that nang eks should just stick to good-girl roles, they are entertainers, what is the point of acting if you only stick to one role your entire career? You don’t ever grow or perfect your craft if you continue to stay within boundaries. That’s why I love Benz, she’s the only Ch3 actress who has played every role imaginable and she does it so well. In Tub Tawan she was a mother who left her deaf child to attend for herself, beat her kid, went out every night, slept with many men etc. and that role was her best and she went on to play more various nang ek roles from sad, funny, to evil. Most, if not, all of her roles have been memorable and I dare say that she’s the most talented actress they have.
I will take the role lmao!!! I mean he could portray sexy in a different way. I don’t think it has to do much with look, well look does play a large role but it doesn’t just take looks (showing skins) alone to make one sexy.

I do feel the same what and it’s good that such great talent actress won’t take this risk. the fame and the name takes years to build and so taking over such EXPLICIT character can destroy it in second. Sure, thailand is like this but don’t forget that if the fans (elder fans) don’t like you after a certain role, they may refuse to watch your lakorn ever again-which could lead to low rating or bad reputation, in turn make them lose the fame they build.) Some may agree that Rating is nothing but that’s b/c only bias fans can see this. Even here in the states, RATING is everything. Although, i’m not so much into the rating, i’m more into the QUALITY of lakorn. Anyway, back to subject, if the job is too much and too uncomfortable, i would pass it too — would you do this kind of job if your boss says you’re good at it? .. you have choice and ppl are allow to have their choices so be it — if someone wants to do this, let that person do it with confident. Such taboo role can only be done with those who thinks they can act it out so if Tak wants it, she may. I’m just curious to know who the p’ek is — if it’s not ROME already

I understand and applaud their reasons for not playing the role of E-Pan. Nang’eks like Cherry and Janie have sweated blood and tears to build their goodgirl image why distroy all that hard work for one lakorn. Also @Liberty actresses that play nang’rai roles are supposed to be slutty,evil and a little (if not a lot) psychotic. The public accepts a lot of what they do without it adversly affecting their popularity, the same can not be said for nang’eks. They are the role models for young thai girls so the shouldnt play negative roles.I for one love the pure nang’eks, they can have sass,be rude,be over the top,naive and/or gullible and i can even accept weak willed to a certain point,but NEVER EVER will i accept a nang’ek that plays the role of a slut. I just dont think i could look at the actress the same. I’m sure i’m not the only one.
I would jump at the opportunity to take that role… look at Chompoo araya who took a slutty nangrai role from Ch7 before and still is so ever popular with all the advertising endorsements!
I find that in Thailand there’s some kind of paradox… Girls are “expected’ to be ‘decent” and not slutty but there are scores of massage parlours around! Anyway, NangEk roles are soooooo boring… come on…
