Weir gets a new nang’ek

Oh great, another gender bender lakorn for our viewing pleasure. It’s really a trend for this year. How many nang’ek dressing like a boy lakorns have their been–Taddao Bussaya (Punch and Por), Tawan Yor Saeng (Vee and Pancake), and most recently Dok Ruk Rim Tang (Bie and Vill). Another one is “Ngao Kammathep (Cupid’s Shadows)” for Ch7 starring “Weir” Sukollawat Kanaros and newcomer “Mai” Davika Horne. Compared to the rest, this gender bender lakorn will be different. Weir will know she is a girl, but pretend he doesn’t know.

Lakorns are rubbish

Partially I agree, but when it is good, it’s good and you just can’t stop yourself from watching it. It becomes an addiction.

In an interview last week, minor actress slash  top model ‘Nuch’ Neeranat Coates said she is not accepting work in lakorns because lakorns are rubbish (namnao). The comment annoyed Ch7′s leading actress “Aum” Patcharapa Chaichuea, who was later questioned by the media about the subject.

“I’m not angry,” said Aum when reporters asked her if she was annoyed by Nuch’s “Lakorns are rubbish” comment.

“As a matter of fact, I’m professional enough. The truth is I also want to be a model, but I’m not tall enough and my walk is not as good as hers, thus it is better if I don’t walk [on the catwalk] often. A singer I also want to be, but I can’t sing that well, thus I became an actress in lakorns. Though some may say it is rubbish, but I like it. I understand her na, she is not strong enough [I think she means language wise, not in terms of health] because her father is a farang (a foreigner), I must understand her,” Aum said.

As a rebuttal, Nuch is claiming she is not anti-lakorns. She is refusing to accept work in because her Thai speaking, reading, and writing skills are not sufficient enough. She has been studying in a Thai international school all her life, she just started speaking in Thai when she entered the Thai entertainment industry.

“Before I had people contact me [about lakorn work], now they’re not because they know I won’t accept it. The reason why I don’t want to play in it is because I don’t know how. Also, I can’t speak Thai that clearly. Thus is becomes a difficult issue. I don’t think I can play in one anyways. I’ll let people who are good in it continue to act in it. I believe that other stars are not ‘anti’ by my news. Aum has not said anything to me. I have seen the news, but I am not serious about it. They have written it, I can’t do anything about it now.

From now on, it will be better if I don’t discuss lakorns at all. Have I ever watch lakorns, occasionally, when my friends are in one. I watch it to support them. But normally, I don’t and I don’t watch Thai TV either because my Thai language skill is not that adequate. Watching it, I get confuse (laughs). I don’t know what’s going on. Maybe I’m a little bit too foreign. Since I was born, I have only gone to an international school. It can’t be helped. But I’m still THAI (laughs).

I’m really not anti-lakorns. I just don’t want to play in one. The reason for not wanting to does not mean I’m an anti. If one of my friends are acting in one, I will watch it. I can see that they are doing well it in, I cheer and feel proud for them. My friends who act in lakorns understand where I’m coming from. My Thai language skill is not strong enough. I can’t speak it that well. Thus they don’t think much about what I said that day. I didn’t mean it, I didn’t mean it to have it come across as negative.

Even if my Thai gets better I probably won’t act in lakorns because I know I won’t know how. Filming lakorns is kinda like doing a stage play. There are many cameras and you have to read the script and have a scene be done very quickly. Filming films is slower. You have more time to compose yourself more easily. Plus, I like films better. Right now, there has have been contacts for films, but the roles are not to my liking. Since I started out as a model, I feel more comfortable being a model.”

Nuch can’t write in Thai, but she can speak and read in Thai.

“In regards to my Thai, I can’t write in Thai. I can read sufficiently enough, I can speak it well enough. I’m trying to learn, trying at my best. Since I entered the Entertainment industry, I been practicing my Thai more. Before I came into the Entertainment industry, I never spoke Thai. Occasionally I spoke Thai, when I spoke to my mother and my Thai friends. Other than that, I didn’t. After coming into the Entertainment Industry, I have met more people, thus I have to speak more Thai.”

Lastly Nuch apologized for offending anyone, she didn’t mean it.

“I do have to apologize for what i have said that day to have made people misunderstand. It was my personal opinion from my own perspective. I didn’t think it would be this serious. I have to apologize, I didn’t know.”

Many of you probably don’t know who ‘Nuch’ Neeranat Coates is. Mostly she is a model. She models a lot and acts on the side. She has done one film, the craptastic 2009 Thai film “Roommates”. She did one commercial with 2PM’s Nichkhun for Wall’s Ice cream.

Prayer/Opening ceremony pictures for “365 days of love”

Prayer/opening ceremony for Ken and Anne’s lakorn “365 Wan Haeng Ruk (365 days of love)”, because I’m lazy, you can read the plot line for the lakorn here.

Usually, the prayer/opening ceremony takes place before filming begins, but in this case, filming has been in production for a while now. They did it in reverse.

Ken explaining the lakorn in the video clip, “For this series, I’ll be more mature, an adult. Their love is like soulmates, they will live together like a couple. Problems will arise like what married couples have to face.”

Anne:”I can’t explain it, it’s kinda like reality. She (her character) has a family that is dysfunctional, not very happy. Thus it makes her insincere about her relationship with her boyfriend. She fears he will cheat on her. She is exaggerating the whole thing, in reality, she has a good husband. But lack of trust complicates her life.”

Om-Nadech-Mark for IN magazine

Oh yes, what is the point of this post? Nothing really, just eye candy. IN magazine loves us this month, they brought 3 of the hottest Thai actors  together and they splashed them with water too just for us. Isn’t that nice of them? Haha.

We have the mature one Om, the Japanese-Thai Nadech, and Mark, the judo fighter.
