Winners at the first annual Nataraja awards 2009

Compared to other awards show in Thailand, the Nataraja awards was a pretty classy affair. No one wore jeans and the setting didn’t look cheap. The trophy is something I would want as a decorative piece in my house, it was a beautiful gold trophy of a Thai traditional dancer.

The event brought tears to many peoples’ eyes twice, first with  “Aof” Pongpat Wachirabunjong’s acceptance speech and the second was when Nok Sinjai, Nok Jariya, and Aof Pongpat sang the song “Kwarm Fun An Song Sot (The highest dream)”. Before singing, the three pledged their allegiance to the King and asked the people of Thailand to stop the disagreement and fighting. The song was profound and it caused many to weep.

It wasn’t all gloom and tears, Anne Thongprasom did bring in laughs when she didn’t realize which lakorn she won the award for. She was too excited. Last night, she won the best actress award for her role in “Soot Sanaeha (A recipe for Love)”, but Anne mistaken thought she won it  for her role in  “Borisud Bumbut Kaen(The Revenge Therapy Company)” and started thanking her co-star Aum Atichart and the crew for that lakorn. Then someone from the audience clued her in that she was thanking the wrong people. Anne then said, ‘what series did I win this award for?’ Everyone laughed and “Captain” Puthanate Hongmanop who presented the Best Actress award, showed her the card. It was for “Soot Sanaeha (A recipe for Love)”. OPPS!

Captain is like, hey Anne, Look here. He laughed too and re-read his card. TOO funny.

“Singto” Singharat Chanphakdee,  and ‘Ploy’ Patsorn Kongmeesuk, her dress is all over the place.

Grand, Vill, Bie, and Fluke, Ch5 peeps.

“BOY” Pisanu Nimsakul and “Nat” Myria Benedetti, for some odd reason, I hate it when she wears black. The color ages even more, I’m not saying she is old. Just the color makes her look old.

Mark!

Tle and then the young cast of “Ching Chang”,  “Ball” Vittawats Sigklumpong and “Pookhai” Phongsiree Banluewong. Pang is to the far right, she has a tattoo?

CH3′s Boy, Pat, Alex, and Taew.

I was wrong, someone did wear jeans, it was Mark Prin from “Ngao Jai Luang Ruk”.

Chakrit Yamnam is still dressing as he is walking up the steps to the building. His “Fai Amata” co-star Sonia Cooling is there with him in black. She tall and draped like a goddess.

“Namfon” Patcharin Judrabounpol and other Ch3′s minor actresses.

Pancake in green.

Ch5 stars cheering for their boss Khun Boy up on stage.
