Thai pop star “Bie” Sukrit Wisetkaew was ordained today at the Wat Intaram in Aytthaya province to pay homage to his father Somjit and his mother Punnipa. He will be ordained or be a temporary monk for 10 day and was given the monk nickname of “Titano”, meaning a person who has the three main Buddhist jewels.
Bie was very emotional during the ceremonies for his monkhood.
“When they were shaving my head, I felt anxious to the point where I wanted to cry. Then someone whispered to me to think of the Buddhist image and our Lord Buddha. I decided to be ordained this time around for my parents, my uncle, my grandmother, and to mark turning 25. Also, I wanted to be ordained to use the teachings/concentration/mediation in my work whether it be in acting or singing with thought and wisdom.”
For the next 10 days, he will immerse himself in the Buddhist teaching and mediation.

Dang, look at all those people. Like I said, its like a block party. The media, Bie’s friends and family, his devoted fans, his co-workers, his boss Khun Boy, everyone was there. Bie is one loved individual. Everyone wants to be there for his big occasion in life. Being ordained is an important event for Thai Buddhist men. It’s marks a passage in life, a connection with one’s religion. It’s a big deal.
