Wanalee 2010 fitting pictures

I should have realized, this remake is going to be a big production. Let me give you the info. It’s produced by Piyawadee Maleenon, she produced “Taddao Bussaya” the remake with Por Thrisadee and Punch. It will be directed by Chookiat Sakveerakul, director of the Thai hit film “Love of Siam” back in 2007.

Cast and Characters:
“Por” Nattawut Skidjai as Sayam
Mew Laknara Piatha as Witchuda or Wit
James Reungsak as Sorat
Pongpat Wachirabunjong as Seua Son
“Ice” Waraphat Pechsathit  as Rithi Rong
“Oom” Lakhana Watnuangsiri as Sumarn
“Yuan” Nithichai Josamornsoontorn as Deputy Werachat
“Oh” Yada Chotichutrakun as  Sotsuay
Montree Jenaksorn as Khun Luang Phisan
“Tuk” Yanee Jongwisut as Khun Nai Jinda
“Mae Aed” Chomchai Chatwilai as Khun Ying Somsawat

Richard Ghiani as Dek Der
“Pee Thai” Aekphan Banleurit as Ai Gong
“Chai” Weerachai Hatgowit as Ai Lat
“Fluke” Sikrinot Phonyong as Joy

Yea, I don’t know half of these people. This is like the beautified version of “Wanalee”, the original was edgy with average looking people. Sorat was a porky and kinda pathetic. He couldn’t get a date even if his life depended on it. All of the female police officers made fun of him because of his porky-ness.  Look at the modern version of Sorat played by James–my god, dude is tall and handsome. What the heck. Where they going with this lakorn. Last night, I watched little bit of Wanalee the original. It was dirty and spunky compared to what the remake will be. I just don’t know about this.

Pinky is back in town

And you’re like oh, so. Yea I know. It’s not really big news. She has been back since the 11th, but was scheduled to come back on the 12th. A little medical emergency brought her back to Thailand early. She suffered a severe allergic reaction to bug bites while filming her Indian movie.  Ya I know, being bitten by bugs ain’t fun, we all know that. Red bumps and it itches.

Khaosod news talked to Pinky as she was being discharged from the hospital. “I’m just about to leave the hospital for home ka,” she told the reporter. “The reason I was in the hospital is because when I was filming my Indian movie there was one day where I had to film a cow milking scene. We filmed for 2 hours and  in the cow pen there was a lot of bugs. After we finished filming, I had a lot of bumps on my skin, so I went to see a doctor. He gave me shot and said to wait 24 hours, it will go away by then. The day after, I didn’t get better. I started having sores and there was more of them. We went to see a new doctor. He also gave me a shot and said the same thing–wait 24 hours, it will get better. In the end, it never did. We went to see a 3rd doctor. He gave me medicine and said the same thing. However, my condition worsen and it spread.”

People on set of her Indian movie were stressing out because her clothes can’t cover all those bumps so they advised her to go back to Thailand early. They were filming in the countryside of India, there was no real doctors there. She came home on July 11th instead of the 12th.

“Just as I arrived to Thailand, I went straight to the Vejthani hospital for treatment. They did a blood test, it was an allergic reaction from the bugs in the cow pen. I had to stay at the hospital for 3 days until I got better. After that, I was discharged and the doctor told me to go rest at home. Now, my condition is better. I’m 80 % healthy. I do have to take better care of my health, I do suffer from allergies. This could happen again.”

At the hospital there was a rumor that a close male friend of Pinky’s paid for the hospital bill and gave her the VIP room. Pinky denied it. “It’s not true at all. You can consider this hospital my family hospital. My mother has gotten treatment for her diabetes here for the past 4 years. When I’m ill I come here, which is often. My other relatives has been coming to this hospital only for the past 6-7 years. They have good service here.  They are fast and take good care of you. As for the bill, my insurance handles it, so there is no need for anyone to pay for me.”

Pink has signed with Ch3 and her first lakorn will be “Ngao Prai (Shadow of the spirit)” which will have its opening/prayer ceremony on July 20th. In the next few weeks, Pinky will have a tight schedule. She is here in Thailand for maybe a week and a half; then she is flying back to India for 2 weeks and coming back to Thailand to start filming her lakorn “Ngao Prai (Shadow of the spirit)” on August 12.

If she keeps up with this schedule for too long, I have no doubt she will be back in the hospital for exhaustion.

“Wanalee” the 2010 remake

I have not seen the original starring Mew Lalita and Saranyu Wongkrajarng back in 1990 when I was still in kindergarten.

“Wanalee (The Woods)” is a romantic comedy centering around a kidnapping gone wrong.  In the lakorn, all the male leads are police officers. Nang’ek’s brother is a police lieutenant colonel, the guy her brother wants her to date and eventually marry is a police officer, pra’ek is a police detective.

Nang’ek’s name is Witchuda or Wit for short. She has two older brothers Witchati or Pee Yai because he is the oldest and her middle brother is  Pee Glang (which literally means middle sibling). Wit is the youngest of the family. Her parents have passed away years ago, she has been raised by her older brother Pee Yai.

Pee Yai’s greatest concern is catching the bad guys and his baby sister Wit.

Wit is not your typical girl, kinda tomboyish. She has a lot of spunk, she takes karate lessons, she is very confident and fears no one. She can handle a gun and can handle herself if she was attacked. Wit can passed as one of Pee  Yai’s beer buddies if she drank, which makes Pee Yai concern.

He begins to notice little things about Wit that worries him. For example, when he took his girlfriend and Wit to go watch “Pretty Woman” starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in theaters. Wit fell asleep during the film while every women in the theater were crying their eyes out when Richard Gere’s character climbed up the fire escape ladder to Julia Robert’s apartment and passionately kissed her. It was very romantic and Wit fell asleep.

Little things begins to pile about Wit that concerned Pee Yai. He wanted her to be safe and be ‘saved’. The best solution, hooking her up with a boyfriend and eventually marrying her off to this guy. Pee Yai chose his buddy, Sorat– a porky/ humorous police buddy of his who was an old bachelor looking to get marry. Sorat looked like a safe bet for a great brother-in-law who can care for his sister. Pee Yai tries every way to set the two up, but Wit wasn’t having it. Sorat is a type of guy who you can take seriously. Plus, he wasn’t her type. Compared to Sorat, she was the dominate one. She needed someone who can match her bold personality.

Sorat didn’t want to give up, he liked Wit. She is young and beautiful. So Sorat asked his younger brother Sayam to do him a favor, kidnap Wit for him, and later he will come and pretend to rescue her. By then, Sorat will be a ‘hero’ in Wit’s eyes and he would have a chance with her. Wrong Idea. You know kidnappings never go well in lakorns.

Sorat is somewhat pathetic. He’s a chubby short man, who is not getting any younger. He’s a nice guy but you can put him in the un-dateable category. Sayam, our pra’ek,  agrees. He pities his older brother.

Sayam pretends to be the big bad criminal Seua Meud (Dark Tiger) and kidnaps Witchuda deep into the jungle to a dingy cabin. He has his wet nurse pretend to be his mother and care for Wit while they were there. Every day, Wit would try to escape, she is trained to defend herself, so she is confident she can escape. Everyday, he would have to go chase after her. Because she is not an easy captive, he has to stay close to her. Keep an eye on her. Thus their close relationship began.

As time passes, Witchuda begins to develop feelings for Sayam because really he is a nice guy–a gentleman. As for Sayam, he too, begins to develop feelings for Witchuda, which complicates the situation because Wit is intended for Sorat not him.

Rotmay is in here in a supporting role. Por Natthawut is Seua Meud or Sayam and 15 year old newcomer Mew Laknara is taking on the role of Witchuda. Por is 35. They have a 20 years age gap. Heck, it is possible for him to be her father.
