The “national costume” Miss Thailand Universe “Pook Look” Fonthip Watcharatrakul will be wearing at the Miss Universe pageant 2010 this coming August at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. You like? I like.
The costume is titled “Siam Iyara”, it was designed by Phalin Aphinyakul as part of Ch7′s Annual Miss Thailand Universe National Costume Design competition. The inspiration was derived from a painting and Thai elephants, the symbolic animal of Thailand. For his efforts, Phalin received 20,000 baht ($621 USD).

“When I saw it, I thought it was very beautiful. I liked it a lot. The concept for the outfit is ‘Siam Iyara (Thai Elephants)’, it was inspired by Thai elephants. It was easy to wear.”

Only about 600 US Dollars? you’d think he would get paid more than that for designing such an important piece lol.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS COSTUME! What a great inspiration and wow, the designer is genius for creating this masterpiece. Everything from head to toe and I mean literally everything is perfect! I love the hair piece and the simple traditional Thai accessories like the fan totally matches the costume. Gosh, if I had that body, I’d want this costume too!
i agree!! i dig this costume! it’s very pretty, and there’s a hint of sexy to this outfit. but not a skanky type of sexy though.. ok, nevermind, all in all, it’s perfectly done!

Phalin has a wonderful mind. I can’t believe it was a guy who designed this piece.^^ The shoes are quite interesting.

i love it! they choose the right girl too because she can DEFINITELY work the costume. She hhas some cute cheeks lol. I love how creative Phalin was and how they got one of everything on the dress. i especially love the fabric and the fan. isnt that a fan they use to fan the royals? correct me if im wrong. im just not digging the shoes but everything else is AMAZINGG. i know ill be watching her from my tv lol
i like it!! it’s creative and sexy without looking vulgar. i swear, thailand always have cool national customs unlike a lot of the western countries (US, France, Germany, yeah, I can go on and on). they’re so bland and lacking in creativity. i thought miss thailand from last year was pretty too, but miss thailand for this year is really really pretty. i don’t watch the show, but i hope she and a lot of the asian contestants don’t get screwed by those biased western judges. it’s “miss universe” and we only see white and black judges and nothing else. so much for universal judging.
