One of Forbes 40 richest persons in Thailand and the managing director of Ch7, Khun Daeng Surang Prempree is please with the premier numbers for New Wongsakorn and “Cheer” Tikumporn Ritthapinan action lakorn “Nak Soo Pan Kaao Nieow (Sticky Rice Breed Warrior)” that aired this Monday, September 6. It will Wanida’s competitor for the Monday-Tuesday prime time line up. I think competitor is the wrong word choice here, it’s should be annihilator since Nak Soo Pan Kaao Nieow (Sticky Rice Breed Warrior)‘s TV rating numbers are doubled that of Wanida. Yikes for Wanida!
“Right now, I feel please with all the lakorns (the ones currently airing on Ch7). Most recently with “Nak Soo Pan Kaao Nieow (Sticky Rice Breed Warrior)” that aired yesterday. Its TV ratings went up to 16.4,” said Khun Daeng happily.
She smiled at the reporters and asked: “how is it? High enough?”
Then she laughed. Let me tell you, Khun Daeng is spunky.
Action lakorns seem to be the ‘it’ genre at the moment, thus Ch3 has come out with its own series of action lakorns to compete with Ch7. The most anticipated Ch3 action lakorn is “Koo Deuat (The Furious Duo)” with Aum Atichart and “Por” Nattawut Skidjai. The media wondered if Khun Daeng will premier “Lui” their most anticipated action lakorn at the same time as “Koo Deuat”. Khun Daeng said she has no intentions of competing with other channels.
“Regarding lakorns, I have no plans to have them compete with other lakorns. We do our own thing. I have never wanted to be compared to anyone. All our lakorns are good. We try our best and don’t want to be compared to anyone, especially the lakorn “Lui” that the media said I would have compete with “Koo Deuat”. That is not true. Don’t think like that. We have never created a series to compete with other series.”
Really. This is business. You have to compete.

I can understand the appeal of “Nak Soo Pan Kaao Nieow (Sticky Rice Breed Warrior)” to the masses of Thailand. It’s set in rural Thailand (where most Thais live), the main character is Isan (the largest group in Thailand), he obtains super strength as a child when he accidentally ate holy sticky rice (Thais are superstitious, not all, but most). I was not surprise by the TV ratings for this series at all.
Though the TV ratings for Ch7 maybe high, some Thais do not care. The quality of Ch7 lakorns are just awful.
“The ratings maybe high, but the quality sucks. I can’t handle it. I rather watch Wanida, it’s more relaxing. The song sounds better too,” said one Thai netizens at Manager.
