One of Forbes 40 richest persons in Thailand and the managing director of Ch7, Khun Daeng Surang Prempree is please with the premier numbers for New Wongsakorn and “Cheer” Tikumporn Ritthapinan action lakorn “Nak Soo Pan Kaao Nieow (Sticky Rice Breed Warrior)” that aired this Monday, September 6. It will Wanida’s competitor for the Monday-Tuesday prime time line up. I think competitor is the wrong word choice here, it’s should be annihilator since Nak Soo Pan Kaao Nieow (Sticky Rice Breed Warrior)‘s TV rating numbers are doubled that of Wanida. Yikes for Wanida!
“Right now, I feel please with all the lakorns (the ones currently airing on Ch7). Most recently with “Nak Soo Pan Kaao Nieow (Sticky Rice Breed Warrior)” that aired yesterday. Its TV ratings went up to 16.4,” said Khun Daeng happily.
She smiled at the reporters and asked: “how is it? High enough?”
Then she laughed. Let me tell you, Khun Daeng is spunky.
Action lakorns seem to be the ‘it’ genre at the moment, thus Ch3 has come out with its own series of action lakorns to compete with Ch7. The most anticipated Ch3 action lakorn is “Koo Deuat (The Furious Duo)” with Aum Atichart and “Por” Nattawut Skidjai. The media wondered if Khun Daeng will premier “Lui” their most anticipated action lakorn at the same time as “Koo Deuat”. Khun Daeng said she has no intentions of competing with other channels.
“Regarding lakorns, I have no plans to have them compete with other lakorns. We do our own thing. I have never wanted to be compared to anyone. All our lakorns are good. We try our best and don’t want to be compared to anyone, especially the lakorn “Lui” that the media said I would have compete with “Koo Deuat”. That is not true. Don’t think like that. We have never created a series to compete with other series.”
Really. This is business. You have to compete.

I can understand the appeal of “Nak Soo Pan Kaao Nieow (Sticky Rice Breed Warrior)” to the masses of Thailand. It’s set in rural Thailand (where most Thais live), the main character is Isan (the largest group in Thailand), he obtains super strength as a child when he accidentally ate holy sticky rice (Thais are superstitious, not all, but most). I was not surprise by the TV ratings for this series at all.
Though the TV ratings for Ch7 maybe high, some Thais do not care. The quality of Ch7 lakorns are just awful.
“The ratings maybe high, but the quality sucks. I can’t handle it. I rather watch Wanida, it’s more relaxing. The song sounds better too,” said one Thai netizens at Manager.

NUK SOO PUN KHAO NIEW IS JUST AWESOME!It teaches many lessons!
Sticky Rice Breed Warrior has Baifern. Considering the Sing Lek Lek fever, that’s enough to persuade a lot of people to tune in to the first broadcast. Not to say that that’s the only reason for the super high rating, but it’s definitely a factor.
Nanticha, he isn’t? Oh shoot hahaha ok I thought he was. Well then that really will prove if it’s the channel or the receiver. Thank you!
I like to watch both channels, i mean i would prefer to watch ch3 more often, just because they have more of the actors that I like to watch. But i think that ch7 lakorns are good also. Congrats to cheer and new for their lakorn, if they deserve the ratings for their hard work than they deserve it. I would have preferred Wanida to have higher ratings, but both lakorns are based on different story lines and are totally different. There shouldn’t really be a hissyfit about ratings. if the lakorn is good then its good, if its bad then its bad, you move on. Both lakorns are very good and they should get recognized for their hard work, whether the ratings are low or high people have their likes and dislikes. Just like the box office, no one cares if a movie got 1st or 3rd at the box office, if they like the movie they go and watch it.
wanida is not moving slow. it’s actually pretty fast.
c-indy, Cee isn’t in Lui. It’s actually Vee lol and Vee sucks! I’m sure more people will be tuning into Ch3′s Koo Dueat although I will probably watch both. I like Por. But I want to watch Lui for Jakajun.
do you think if Ch 7 was the one to remake Wanida but the cast was still the same, would there be more viewers?
As much as I love Wanida. I’m not surprise because Wanida is moving at a really slow pace. It’s just kinda goin’ back and forth so far. Tik’s character is too stuck on Joy’s character which doesn’t make the lakorn exciting (at least not yet). I’ve never seen Cheer in a drama before. Can she even act? But I’m glad New’s drama’s doing good because Jui’s drama’s doing good as well. ( :
I watch both channels. I don’t care what channel as long as the lakorns are good and I usually end up watching one lakorn from ch.3, 5 and 7 every period. I think the point of watching lakorns are to watch the ones you like. It is to our benefit that there are so many lakorns to choose from because we get to be picky and selective. From experience, I do notice that channel 3 has bad reception outside Bangkok so people end up watching channel 7′s lakorn. When considering ratings, we should factor in this problem. If people in the provinces can only watch channel 7, do their ratings really reflect the fact that people truly like ch7 or just the fact that there’s nothing else for them.
7-9 is pretty high though. It’s certainly above average for ch3, I would’t say it’s low. Even ch7 rarely gets 16 for the premiere. Some lakorns, even on ch7, do not reach 16 at all that’s why it was kind of a big deal.
I find that Stickyrice Breed Warrior tolerable and enjoyable to watch, I don’t known why! Somehow, New and Cheer lakorn is not dragable or drag on, it is going to fast, and I like it.
Can’t believe Wanida’s rating is so low. I thought it was very good. Well, we can’t really tell because this is just the first episode. I hope the ratings drop so I can laugh at her face. Don’t like channel 7 at all.
I’m sorry but I’m one of those who are watching both lakorns because I’m a huge fan of New and I still like Wanida better. However you can’t really compare the two because it’s totally different. It’s like comparing a mystery novel to a romance novel. Fans of mystery novels will of course criticize the romance novel and prefer to read mystery because that’s their taste. I rather wait for when Channel 7 pitch Lui against Koo Deuat. You know there are way more fans of Por then Cee, so we’ll find out then if it’s the channel or is the lack of receivers.
Is it just me or post 08 for lakorns hasn’t been that great. There was a few that were good Anne and Ken’s, Bee and Pong’s, Film and Pat’s, Weir and Pinky’s till the last four episodes, and a few others. But overall its not to the same level entertaining. The only lakorns that seem to be good are the ones with Anne and Ken. The storyline, the acting, production, and direction. It’s not just channel 7′s quality going down but all three channels. Don’t kill me I haven’t really liked any lakorns this year, there’s a lot of action ones not such a big fan when the plots s***, drama’s massively overrun with villians, crappy pop star drama’s, and comedies that started off right and then threw a WTF in the viewers face that made no sense. Channel 3 needs to get the writers for Anne and Ken’s lakorn and use them to write all the lakorns, channel 7 should make it a point to find better female leads, better writers, and use the money they have to have better production level. Channel 5 should make more Pong and Bee lakorns.
