The character Tian (played by Om Akapan) in “Bandai Dok Ruk (Stairs to love)” is an immature playboy, honestly I do not like this character– he has a posse of women, he drunk drove into a ditch, and he accidentally disrobed a piece of Kachao (Min Pechaya)’s traditional Thai dress, partially exposing her bosom at the festival beauty pageant because he wanted to borrow her cellphone. He was a little drunk (majorly drunk) at the time, but still, dude, I do not like you. Today was Tian’s day, he took up nearly 80% of the first episode until his twin brother Thup (always played by Om Akapan) made his appearance near the end. What a relief. This brother is much better, I just have a low tolerance for immature men.
The first time Kachao (Min) met Tian, he was drunk and muddy because he just drove his car into a ditch. They were at a local festival (carnival) where she was competing in a beauty pageant, the title of Miss Somo (Miss Pomelo). She won and he was wandering around asking people to use their cellphone to call home. Because of his muddy, dirty appearance, no one would lend him their cellphone to use.
When he saw Kachao from a distance picking up a call, he walked towards her and pointed drunkenly: “Pretty lady, can I use your phone?” Just as he is about to reach her, he trips and lands on top of her. She was not happy about that and accused him of attacking her. Time to hit this guy with her beauty pageant trophy, to which she did. It was a mess–he got smack and hit big time. When she was walking away, he had to hold on to the scarf part of her dress and spun her around, disrobing her outfit. Nice move guy.
Their first meeting was not great, there second meeting wasn’t great either. She smacked him with a broom and accused him of stalking her. After that, he was just smitten with her feistiness. This guy ain’t right.
When he wanted to introduce himself, she told him she didn’t care. “I don’t want to know who you are, what kind of work you do, what position you in,” she shouted at him.
When he tried to introduced himself again, she told him to just stop. “You can’t talk, you can only listen!! I know I’m pretty and you probably want to flirt with me. But I don’t care about you one bit, for that reason, stay far away from me.”—it’s funny how her arrogance is the thing that attracts him.
She throws the broom at him and left.
When she learned who he was and that he was her boss and that he is rich, she was embarassed. I guess he is not so dirty after all.
Fast-forward to the end, Tian is hardcore smitten with Kachao, he told his parents that he has found a girl who didn’t care about his money (he doesn’t even know her yet), he is sincere about her, and he even threw out the word ‘marriage’. His parents were skeptical, they know their son well, he’s silly and not so bright. He has a 3 women entourage following him around to clubs and various places because dude is good-looking and has money. He’s a playboy. At the club, women swarm around him trying to get his attention. The women he attracts, all gold-diggers.
At one point, his mother told him: “I have told you several times, no woman will love you sincerely, they only love your money. When I declared I was going to cut you off the inheritance, they were turned off.” Stupidly he said he still has his looks. “They might be interested in my looks instead of my money,” he told his mother. Oy this guy.
His parents are skeptical so they sent out his twin brother Thup to deal with him and figure out his new love interest.
At this point, Kachao is working at Tian and Thup’s Orchid Farm. They are having a pageant for the title of “Miss Orchid” among the female employees of the company/farm. It’s was Tian’s idea–he wanted to attract Kachao’s attention because in her work application, she wrote that her specialty was competing in beauty pageants. Kachao is competing because she wants to get Tian’s attention. They are so alike, too bad they were not meant to be.
Thup is there too, he is there to scope the area, figure out the girl that Tian’s likes, and deal with the situation for his parents. He is acting as judge for the pageant too.
It’s funny at the pageant, when Kachao saw Thup and thought it was Tian, she waved to him and he was like all confuse. He looked left and right and finally realized she was waving at him. Right then and there, he knew who she was, the girl he has to investigate for his parents.
Kachao goes up on stage and asked herself:”what should I do, should I go through with my plan, what if it doesn’t work, will I embarrass myself?”–I think the answer is ‘yes!’
Tian hasn’t arrive yet. When he arrives, he interrupts Meekrop (Sammie) at the buffet table, and she is baffled, she thought he was already here. “Did you just get here. Or did you get here, went in, and then came back out, and now is going back in.”
Tian was like girl you have lost it. “Ow, ow, what the heck are you saying? I don’t have that much free time, I just got here!”
Still Meekrop was hella confuse. “You just got here. But who is in there?”
Meekrop, I’ll tell you who is in there. It’s Tian’s more intelligent, uptight, all serious and no fun older twin brother Thup. Time to be shocked!
Kachao is up on stage and she has decided to go through with her master plan, she pretends to faint to get Tian ( or the guy she believes is Tian)’s attention. The room was in a state of panic, someone yelp, Thup just sat there. He knows what’s up. I think he rolled his eyes at her.
Finally, he calmly stands up, fixed his suit, told the announcer he will carry her to the guest room to rest. As he is picking her up, she says to herself. “Mission completed, hey he is easy to deceive.”—-oh sweetie, you’re so wrong.
He picks her up and says to himself. “Don’t think I haven’t caught on. A young sapling like you can’t deceive me.”
While entering the room, he accidentally knocked her feet on the door and I think purposefully knocked her head on the door too. HAHA. Though she was annoyed and cursed him, he was amused and said to himself, “serve you right.”
In the room, he just drops her on the sofa. Ouch. She pretends to gain consciousness and tells him she doesn’t now what happened.
Before she could say anything else, he blurts out with: ‘you probably have a deceitful illness.’
She was like what? HAHA. He asked her if she wanted to go back to the pageant to compete, she told him they still had 15 minutes because their are still other contestants and she has already showed herself to all the judges. It is not necessary for her to go back right away. He is unfazed by her answer: ‘your case is valid, you prepared yourself well.’
Kachao still didn’t get it, she was like what again? Haha, girl you ain’t smart. He is telling you, he knows your game. Oy, this gal.
Thup sternly corrected himself, ‘I meant your preparation for the pageant.’
Kachao actually believed him and told him her life story of competing in pageants since the age of 4. Her profession is competing in pageants she told him. Oh boy, he was not amused by that.
Speaking of which she said, the last time she saw him was at a pageant, competing for the title of ‘Miss Sweet Pomelo”, she apologized for being violent with him and for verbally insulting him.
She ended her apology with, “I didn’t know who you were that is why I did that.”
Thup:”So that means, if you knew who I was, you wouldn’t have done that.”
She batted her pretty little eyelashes and nodded ‘yes’.
“Who would dare say anything to Khun Tian, the son of a huge plant farm.”
Thup:”Now if I wasn’t the son of a huge plant farm, if I wasn’t a hi-so (high society person). If I was poor, you would have spoken poorly to me, do bad things to me without guilt.”
Yep, her smile fades to a frown, just about now.
Thup:”I want to ask you something, if you knew that I was rich, will you do everything I ask of you?”
Kachao is confused and asked him, ‘what do you mean by that?”
Thup:”If I give you want you want in exchange for something, are you willing to do it?”
Kachao doesn’t know, what does he want her to do?
He corners to her a wall and says to her: “it won’t be difficult, you might have to adjust a little, if you agree, you will get everything, even the “Miss Pageant” title for this farm too.”
At this point, Kachao is terrified, and asked him what does he want her to do. “What do you want me to do?”
Thup:”What I order you to do.”–umm, that’s not very clear.
Kachao was confuse too. “What do you want me to do?” She shouted at him.
Thup slams his hand on the wall and tells her, “Stop messing with my younger brother.”—you know what, there was a part of me that wanted him to say, ‘I want you to be my kept women (Mia kep)”. I don’t know, all those years of watching sadistic lakorns, it gets to you.
She was like who.
“Who is your younger brother?”
Then Tian, who has discovered that Thup and Kachao are together, walked in on them with Meekrop. Tian ordered his older brother to back off.
Kachao looke dup at Thup and says questioningly, “you’re not Tian??”
Thup answered:”I never said I was Tian.”
Kachao faints when Thup said Tian and him are twins. Tian catches her.
Thup just stands there and says, “Deceitful.”
When she heard that, Kachao stood up and asked Thup, “Who are you insulting?”
HAHA. Hey gal, I thought you fainted.
Thup raised his eyebrows at her and answered, “Who do you think I am referring to?”
Thup looks at his watch and tells her to go back to the pageant stage before it is too late. She might not get the crown.
The episode ends with Meekrop urging Kachao to go back to the pageant stage.
