Ka Khong Khon: Ep 6 building memories

When he wants to be, Luk can be a decent guy and kinda mushy romantic too. He is more sensitive than Kluay will ever be, he is a big man-child always pining for her attention. Look at me, if not, I’m gonna throw a tantrum, that is pretty much Luk’s mentality. Today in episode 6, Mr.Luk was a good boy, wanting to create memories with Kluay and actually being nice to her. Aw. How sweet.

In episode 5 (yesterday’s episode), Luk was jealous. They were fighting, he caught her in a lie. And you’re like Ahaah (big sigh), here we go again.They fight then they make-up. YES-teer-day, Luk discovered that Kluay went to see Jetsada at the park. Jetsada proposed to her and she lied that she went out to pay her cellphone bill. Then he sees the ring when her bag dropped on the floor, they fought and he goes off to have drinks with Jane. Ew. Jane. Ew.

Later that night, he comes home, she follows him up to his room trying to explain herself. He ignores her and says, “you’re still here. I thought you would have packed up all your things to go live with that Jetsada already.”  What a man child!

He walks into his personal bathroom and slams the door on her. She knocks several times to get his attention. Aw. Don’t worry, you’ll come out soon. Outside the door, Kluay apologizes to him. “I wanted to apologized for what I have done wrong and explain to you about the ring.”

She says his name several times, he ignores her. When he does come out, he is shirtless. AHHHHHHHHH!

Luk:”What are you gonna say. Just say it.”

She turns around to see him shirtless, she immediately turns her back on him. I would have done the same. I’m a shy girl. Luk yells at her for being modest and stop ‘overacting’ about his bare chest.

Kluay starts to explain herself. “I’m sorry for secretly going to see P’Jet. I don’t think of him in that way na ka. Also, I didn’t know beforehand he was gonna give me a ring.”

Luk walked over to face and asked, “he asked you to marry him huh?”

Kluay said “yes” and Luk asked how she answered him.

Kluay:”I respect as an older brother.”

He doesn’t believe her and grabbed her shoulders with both hands. “Really,” he asked her.

“REALLY,” she replied.

He wants her to prove it. “Can you prove it that you did not meet up with a suitor when you were still married to me?”

Kluay:”I can, how would you like me to prove it?”

He wants the ring. “Give me the ring. I will keep it for you. I don’t want you go secretly wearing it to give hope to some other guy.”

She doesn’t want to and argues, “what? If you think nothing of it, why do you want to keep it?”—good point, Mister Man-Child.

She agrees and hands the ring over to him. “That’s fine, I will let you keep it to reassure you. When we divorce, I will personally return this ring to P’Jet.”

Luk was stunned when she uttered the word ‘divorce’. He starting to fall for her and he doesn’t want to lose her. The word ‘divorce’ or ‘break up’ tears him apart. He was speechless when she uttered that word.

The next day, Khun Khae is handing out silk fabrics to the servant to have them be tailored for the upcoming Peemarn and Nutta’s upcoming engagement. Everyone is dressing alike. It’s a Thai themed ceremony and Kluay has to dress in Thai traditional wear also. Khun Khae, as suggested by head maid Yam, offered Kluay an expensive Thai silk fabric to be tailored into a traditional Thai outfit for the engagement ceremony. Kluay declined Khun Khae’s offer because she does not want to waste beautiful fabric on an outfit she wil be wearing just once. Kluay said she will get a rental for the big day like how she usually does when she has to perform traditional dances for big events. She knows a cheap place to go and will not inconvenience anyone because of it.

Also that same day, Peemarn learns from servant guy Put that Kluay and Luk don’t seem in the same room. Now he knows, something is up and they are deceiving him somehow.

To rent the dress, Luk takes Kluay to an expensive bridal rental place, she doesn’t want to use this play. It’s TOO expensive and TOO above her.. Luk said he will pay for it. It will be like the responsibility of a husband, he told her.  You can tell, Luk does like to play his husband role well.

Kluay tries on the dresses as Luk waits for her reading bridal magazines. When Kluay comes out in a beautiful pale pink-magenta Thai traditional dress, he is at awe by her beauty. He circles around her and asked her if she liked her dress. She does and asked the salesgirl if they had accessories that went with the dress.

Luk is annoyed by her request and asked if they are not embarrassing to wear. Those accessories are gonna be fake. He doesn’t  want his wifey to wear something fake, he has a reputation to uphold.

Kluay:”I won’t be embarrassed, I had to wear those fake accessories when I had to perform traditional dances, I’m used to it. Please don’t make me do things that are too above me.”

Luk sighs and walked closer to her and placed both his hands on her upper arms gently.

He looks at her deeply and tells her that her life position is to being his wife.  She corrects him and says, “that’s not right. My position is that of a Thai traditional dancer to who you have hired to pretend to be your wife.”

He takes both her hands and begs her, “Khun Kluay ka, our time together is already short, can I beg you to NOT say anything like this again.”

Oh! Kluay looks down somewhat bewildered by his request. She is confuse by his feelings and her feelings for him. I would be too. His reasoning is that when they are not together anymore, they will have good memories of each other. Cue the awws!

Softly he asked her, “do you agree?”

She smiles gently and politely says, “yes.”

He smiles and takes out his iphone to take a picture of her. He makes her smile and makes her pose for the camera. It was a good moment for both. He playfully kisses her when she isn’t looking. When she is too busy posing for the camera, he secretly looks at her.

After renting the dress, they go to have dinner together at a fancy restaurant. They sit down and he compliments the restaurant for good atmosphere and good food. She smiles and tells him she heard it was good.

He is stunned, she is talking as if she has never eaten here. I think this is the restaurant  fromepisode 1 where they officially met and she was hired to perform for Jetsada’s company to welcome Mr.Armstrong.

Kluay tells him that though this place sells Thai food, it’s too expensive for her. A plate of food here starts at 1,000 bath ($32 USD), she can’t afford that.

Kluay with a smile:”It’s true that I have been here before, but I came here to work.”

He stares at her bewilderingly, he is not used to this and she has proven him wrong. He has never dated a commoner girl who doesn’t eat at fancy restaurants. Before they ordered their food, a Thai traditional dancers walks up on stage to perform. Kluay smiles with delight, she loves this because she is a Thai traditional dancer too.

Luk degrades the dancer to compliment Kluay. “Look at that, that dancer’s beauty can’t compare to yours.”

Kluay doesn’t notice his compliment and quickly defended the girl. “Don’t look at her appearance, when you watch Traditional Thai dance, you have to look at the gentleness of it.”

Luk argues everyone in the restaurant is like him, they are not noticing her much. To Kluay it doesn’t matter. “Though they are not watching, a traditional Thai dancer must still dance beautifully, it doesn’t matter if people are watching are not.”

Luk doesn’t understand and asked why.

Kluay:”They already paid for the performance. No matter if there is only one customer at the restaurant, we have to perform our best to what they have paid us for. It is how it is to be a paid worker.”

Luk:”Now when we break up, will you go back to being paid worker (thai traditional dancer) like this?”

Kluay:”This profession is a profession I love. Though it doesn’t pay well, it does pay my rent, my food, and utilities for my house.”

She smiles at him and he looks away dumbfounded. She is such a good woman, he thinks to himself probably.

Back at the house, Peemarn learns from Jane that Kluay and Luk’s marriage is a sham and tells his mother he is breaking up his engagement with Nutta.

During dinner, Luk pays for the encore performance from the dancer as they ate. Kluay looks over at him and grabbed his arm to ask if they were being too showy about it. He tells her not to worry about it, they were giving the dancer support.

He takes her hand and asked her about the flower at the end of the garland that is clipped on the dancer’s ear. He remembered he picked one up the first time they met. It’s a michelia flower, her favorite flower, told him.

He wondered why it was her favorite flower, she explains that at her grandmother’s garden house, they had a michelia tree and it brought her fond memories of her father. “When ever I wanted one, my father would carry me up to pick one,” she told him.

When she mentioned her father, he is intrigued and asked if he lived at her garden house. She tells him no, he has been dead since she was in elementary school.

Kluay:”I remember clearly when he passed away, I cried for several days beside the michelia tree. Whenever I see a michelia blossom, I can’t help myself from thinking of my father.”

He places his hand over her hand to comfort her. He then excuses herself to chase after the dancer. He buys the michelia blossom from the dancer.

He returns to their table and tells her to close her eyes and put out her hands. He places the michelia flower on her hand.  She opens her eyes and sees the flower. She sweetly smiles and he asked what she does with the flower when she picks one. She braids it into her hair.

He knelt downs beside her and braids the flower into her hair for her.

After a beautiful dinner together, they come home to encounter troubling news, Peemarn knows about the fake marriage and he has broken his engagement to Nutta. Khun Yam tells Luk that Jane told Peemarn. Oh no, What to do? The embarrassment and what about Peemarn’s future, pretty much Nutta and Peemarn’s marriage is to build connections and Nutta’s dad is Peemarn’s boss.

In their superficial distress, Kluay is worried too.

As Luk is distressing over the issue in his office, Kluay brings him tea to help him think. Kluay suggested that she try to convince Peemarn to re-think his intentions of marrying her. She doesn’t feel confident that she can but she will try because she wants Khun Khae and Luk to be at ease about this whole issue. Moved by her suggestion, he takes her hand and thanked her.

Alone in her room, Kluay takes out the michelia flower from her purse and makes a vow to Luk. “I promise na ka, that I will try my best. I make Khun Peemarn marry like how you want it to be even though it will separate us.”

She smells the flower and looked dejectedly ahead. oy. Lakorns, why do I watch you?

How funny, Peemarn wore the same outfit for two days. Assumingly it’s the next day and Peemarn goes to confront the lawyer guy about Luk and Kluay’s sham marriage at his house. Peemarn asked the lawyer guy if he felt ashamed for doing this deceiving him. Lawyer guy answered no because Luk is his boss and there are worst things that he has done for them.

Lawyer guy:”I don’t feel ashamed, I’m Khun Luk’s employee, whatever he tells me to do, I will do it. Things that are 100 times shameful than this, I have done that already.”

Lawyer guy hinted to Peemarn that he should know what that means. “Can you not remember that?” He asked Peemarn.

Sorry Peemarn, he does have you in check. You got some girl pregnant and he had to cover for you. We don’t know the details yet but Peemarn did get some girl pregnant and Luk and lawyer guy had to work their magic to cover it up.

Back at the house, Peemarn is delighted to see Kluay in the yard, he apologizes in behalf of his family for involving her in this mess.

Peemarn:”I know the whole truth that my mother and P’Luk hired you to get marry. I do have apologize for misunderstanding you.”

Kluay:”You don’t have to apologize. At that time, I really did need the money that is why I accepted his offer.”

Peemarn:”Don’t worry about it, I understand. Whatever he paid you, just tell me, I will repay it myself. From now on you can be free.”

He takes her hand and adds, “then we can get marry.”

She pulls her hand away:”No Khun Peemarn, I can not marry you. You should marry Khun Nutta.”

Peemarn:”No way. I will not marry her, no one can coerce me.”

He takes her hand again. “Khun Kluay, I love you. Do you hear me, I love you.”–She probably heard you. You repeated it twice.

Kluay:”Thank you very much. But I don’t love you. Even though you won’t be marrying Khun Nutta, I still can’t marry you because I don’t love you.”

In with the water works!

Peemarn:”Then why did you marry P’Luk.”

Kluay:”I married him because I love him.”–ouch! Yea guy, time to move on.

She repeats for the second time that she loves Luk. “Khun Peemarn ka, please forget  about me and marry Khun Nutta because this that best thing for everyone.”

He cries and she leaves him.

Luk heard everything, he becomes more smitten with Kluay.

Eventually by the end of the episode, Luk discovers a way to convince Peemarn to marry Nutta. Peemarn has a secret, he got some girl pregnant 8 years ago. They had a little girl together named Markie, Peemarn didn’t want to take responsibility so Luk had to conceal the secret. No know Thais hate deadbeat dads more than anything, this could destroy his whole life. Luk gave Peemarn an ultimatum; he will clear everything with Nutta and her mother if Peemarn will accept Markie openly and legally.

Luk:”Have you ever thought what would  happen if Kluay learns what you did to Markie’s mother 8 years ago. I think she won’t even want to look at your face. Now with Khun Nutta, a woman who adores and worships you, I don’t think she can accept it either. When that time comes, you will lose the woman you love and the woman who loves you. You will have nothing left.”

Luk advised Peemarn to make his decision well.

Luk:”Do you love Khun Kluay that much that you are willing to risk losing everything.Do you love her more than you love yourself?” Tough call man.

Of course Peemarn had to cry over this. This guy is such a cry baby.

Luk:”Just marry Khun Nutta, don’t make your mother disappointed in you.”

To save himself, he decides to go apologize to Khun Nutta’s father and marry Khun Nutta.
