It’s a must watch episode of the ‘Ratree Samosorn’ variety show on Ch3 with guest appearances from Gun “Fluke” Kantathaworn, Pong Nawat, and Great Warintorn. The show started off with 2 little girls playing the ukulele, then ‘Kao’ Jirayu La-ongmanee and Jessie Mekwattana played a song on their ukulele, I didn’t really watch it. Good for you kids for learning to play the ukulele, apparently its all the rage among indie wannabe Thai celebrities.
Segment 2 was what I was waiting for–Gun Kantathaworn, Pong Nawat, and Great Warintorn came out to talk about their love lives, past girlfriends, and their kiddy love experiences. Because Gun and Pong are friends outside the industry, I think Great felt like a third wheel in this situation because Pong and Gun were connecting stories back and forth while Great just sat there.
Before Gun would actively pursue a girl he has to ask her if she knows Pong Nawat, if she does, it is not a good thing.

The guys walked in and sat on the interview couch and updated everyone about their latest projects. Great said he was very pleased by the reception of his lakorn “Kulap Rai Glai Ruk” with Matt Peeranee, it was better than expected. After Great came Gun, he was introduced by Kalamare, who said: “as for Gun, he is truly a popular guy, his most recent work was playing a vampire.” She then asked Gun, “so how many girls have asked you to bite their necks?” Apparently many, from guys to gay guys to women.
The guy host ‘Ling’ Somkiat Janphram looked over at Pong to ask him the same question. ‘At this time has there been anyone who has ask you to bite their neck?”
Pong smiled and tried to answer that bizarre question. Before he could answer, someone chimed with a joke stating that Pong would be sucking necks than biting them. It might have been Gun, since they are friends.
Pong did not answer the question, he just laughed. Num Gunchai then looked over at Pong and pointed out that Pong has been receiving a lot work. Pong explained it is part of publicity because his lakorn is currently or was currently on air. It’s normal, he argued, it depends on timing.
Kalamare looked over at the audience and pointed out Pong’s Chinese fan club members, ‘those Chinese fans where did you get them from?”
Num looked over at them too and shouted very loudly, “HELLO!”
They were sitting in the front row with a sign with Pong’s name and a heart on it. The hosts of Ratree Samosorn said ‘hello’ to them and they waved back, which stunned guy host Ling. Astounded he asked Pong, ‘they understand Thai too?” Pong answered some of them can speak Thai a little, especially the woman wearing the floral dress. Actually, he said: “the person in the middle, she can speak Thai.”
The camera zoomed on her and they greeted her and she greeted them back with a ‘wai’. Kalamare asked her why she likes Pong, she answered he is a good person in Thai. Everyone started laughing and both Ling and Num stood up waving ‘no’ and jokingly said, ‘that’s not true. He is really a terrible person.”
Num walked over to her with a mic and pointed at Pong and Kalamare asked her the question again. “Why do you like Pong?”
“Because P’Pong is a good person and a good actor, ” she answered for the second time.
Everyone was like ‘oh, he is a good actor.’ Pong was teased again by Ling who said, ”P’Pong is a good actor but is a terrible person.”
Khun ‘Tuk’ Yanee Jongwisut looked over at Pong’s Chinese fan and asked her, ‘you have found a good person, am I right? Now do you want a bad person?”
Pong’s Chinese fan looked at her baffled and then laughed. Num patted himself on the chest and told her he a better person than Pong. Slowly he told her, “I’m a better person than him. A very good person!”
She took to her mic and told him, ‘But Pong is the best.”
Part 3, Part 4 If you can understand Thai, this is like the best part of the show–them talking about their past relationships and kiddy crushes.
_____
Num: “Speaking frankly, I want to say seeing them ‘hot’ like this’, their girls stories from back then is very savory too. Thinking back when they were kids, look at Khun Pong, he had a ‘girl next door.’ He secretly had a crush on his next door neighbor.”
Pong:”It was very much puppy love.’
Kalamare:”At what age?”
Pong:’”In elementary school. We lived in the same street, she was cute. When I saw her in the car coming home, I thought she was very cute. It started when I went outside to water the plants, I went out to look.”
Pong continued on with his story on how he tried to impressed his cute girl next door with his soccer skills, “though I could kick the ball inside the house, I still went outside to kick the ball in the front.”
She would do the same by riding her bike pass the front of his house often. It was a mutual attraction. Pong did talk to her and got to know her. As things were progressing well, she moved aboard. At the beginning he made contact with her but she never returned to Thailand.
Num:”Has she returned to Thailand?”
Pong:”No, she got a job and works there.”
Kalamare:”Oh, I really want to see her.”
On with Great, he had a kiddy crush on his school librarian. What.
“When I was in elementary school, I went to the library…(starts laughing).”
Khun Tuk:”You went to study, to find something to read.”
Great:”I went to help the librarian arrange the library.”
Kalamare in shock:”Don’t tell me started to have crush on the librarian?”
Great:”It wasn’t like that. It was a good feeling towards her.”
Khun Tuk stood up and went over to seat on Greats lap and joked, “do you remember me?”
Ling had to drag her back.
Great:”I was impressed with her.”
Everyone:”So that means she must have been very pretty.”
Great:”She was very pretty. After awhile, she left. After that, I didn’t go to the library anymore.”
Now to Gun’s kiddy love story. This is the best. When Gun was in kindergarten he had a crush on one of his classmates. During nap time, the teachers would separate the girls from the boys. Because he wanted to get close to his crush, he would make his way to sleep next to her. CUTE!
Gun:”It wasn’t puppy love, this girl was extremely beautiful. I liked her. In kindergarten, there is nap time. They would separate the boys from the girls. She would sleep in the far end and I would make my way to sleep next to her, so that I could be close to her.”
Kalamare teased Gun by saying he was terrible.
Ling interjected and said this is all kiddish. “This is all kiddish, all of their stories is very kiddish. Now the most awesome story comes from my older brother.”
Ling pointed to Num. “This guy, when he was in kindergarten, he paid another kid to sit on his lap.”
Everyone started laughing and Num had to explain himself.
Num:”No, it’s not like that. When I was a kid, I liked this girl. Back then, I would get a 5 baht coin to go to school, you know the 5 baht coin, I would give her this coin and asked if she could sit on my lap.”
The guys started roaring with laughter, they have never heard of such a thing.
Num:”We were in the same classroom. I would ask her if she could sit on my lap.”

Simultaneously the guys gave Num a Chinese bow of respect.
Tuk to Num:” Five baht, you didn’t eat sweets, you abstained yourself?”
Num:”Yea, I wanted her to sit on my lap. I wanted to touch her legs.”
Pong:”But why didn’t you buy sweets for her instead, something more innocent?”
Num:”The act of buying sweets is the act of flirting. I rather hire her.”
Num patted his lap several times and everyone started laughing again.
Kalamare wanted to know if he only hired one girl. Num said, it was only one girl, but the next year, he hired another girl to sit on his lap. HAHA
Back in the day, Pong had a crush on this girl at school but didn’t know her or knew anyone who knew her, so there was no connection. One day, he decided to just introduce himself. He went up to her and said, “Nong, please don’t be confuse or scared.”
Gun laughed at the ‘scared’ part.
Pong:”This is nothing. I just wanted to introduce myself but didn’t have a better way to do this.”
This girl became is long time girlfriend. Eventually, they broke up. Num even knew her name.
