Kon Ruk Luang Jai’s Ost by Room 39

The lyrics to the song by the indie trio Room 39 for Janie and Ken’s romantic comedy “Kon Ruk Luang Jai (The Trickery of Love Dupes the Heart)”–whenever I watch this lakorn, I get excited when the song comes on. It’s a narration of Janie or Bua’s side of the story– she is madly in love with Ran played by Ken that she is willing to play the role of his hired lover just to be close to him. They love each other; however, he is choosing his career over her. He wants to be the next Thai ambassador to the Czech Republic, he can’t marry a woman with a scandalous past. He reminds her often that their love can only be temporary.

 Room 39′s “To keep you”

Although I know, it won’t be too long until our love ends
I know that it won’t be too long until our relationship is taken away
Although I know that no one will understand our love
And there is no way it will go far, no way it can be real.

*
However, I’m against it. Against it even though I have accepted it.
Because the love I have for you is more than something that can be taken back
(Beyond what one can turn his back on)

**
I truly want to keep this moment even  though it is not real.
I want to keep the feeling, the happiness, everything deep inside where no one can steal it from me.
I want to keep every minute we have no matter how it will end.
But I want to keep it.
I don’t know for how long I won’t see or listen, or know the reason why.
I refuse to no matter how much it hurts in exchange for us to be together.

(*, **)
(**)
I want to ask to choose the pain
I want to ask to choose to keep you.
