Really. Both are beautiful and talented actresses but Chompoo’s image is of that of a sex vixen where as Kim Tae Hee is the Korean girl next door. Right?
Either or, our ‘Chompoo’ Araya Hagate has been dubbed the ‘Kim Tae Hee of Thailand’ by the Korean media after appearing in the Men’s Fashion magazine L’OFFICIEL HOMMES South Korea for their February 2012 issue.
The L’OFFICIEL HOMMES magazine spread made Korean netizens interested in our Chompoo Araya as they comb the net to find out who she is. For those who don’t know, Chompoo is one of Thailand’s top leading actresses from Ch3. Her lakorn from last year ‘Dok Som See Thong (The Orange Golden Crown)’ was named the lakorn of the year by Thairath newspaper and her role as ‘Raiya’ the promiscuous mistress in the series stirred up conversation about morality–there were debates from the viewers and the government.
The year 2011 was a successful year for Chompoo, all 3 of her lakorns were well received– ‘Rahut Torachon (Code of the outlaws)’ with Ken Theeradeth, she played a girl assassin, ’Dok Som See Thong (The Orange Golden Crown)’ with Aun Witaya, she was ‘Raiya’ the overly ambitious mistress, and in ‘Mia Taeng (Wedded Wife)’, Chompoo played the lead role of Arunpapai or Pai, the dutiful loyal wife of Rome Patchada who had a mistress. Her roles are varied and she portrays them well–she can be cute, be the perfect dream wife, or a cheating man’s worst nightmare of that of a wayward mistress trying to break up a family. Chompoo is entertaining.
Those heels are like Native American heel moccasins.

I am an American, I am from European decent. My wife is Thai/Lao/Chinese. I am half American Indian and Welsh. The dialog we should be having is that the World has evolved and what makes us special is that we don’t necessarily identity ourselves as an individual ethnicity. We identify ourselves by our character. I have spent many years in Thailand with my wife and our wonderful children, They speak/write and understand Thai culture, they respect the traditions in Thailand and the history of the region. Two hundred years ago Thailand was not the Thailand you see today…it was the influx of foreign ideas, trade and friendship that made Thailand one of the best places in the World to visit because the Thai people are the most welcoming, generous, and genuine people I have ever known. Stop thinking about what you are and start thinking about who you are…only then you will understand it all.
Whatever! I’m right and your WRONG!
GOODBYE.
I never said that halfies shouldn’t get anything good in life. I iust asked why thai lakorns have so
Many halfies on screen and why do talent scouts find them so appealing. It doesn’t give full thais
hope to pursue acting or modeling careers- especially on channel 3, beause right now most of the newbies are half white. The next princess if entertainment is probably another half white like yaya or chompoo. Too bad a full thai nang’ek never received that title. True thai beauty is tan skin with asian features.
It’s harder for full asians to make it to hollywood or let alone half asians beacuse you see very few
Of them in screen in hollywood. Asians are most of the time portrayed wrongly in movies by stupid stereotypes. That’s why the majority of a-listers in hollywood are mostly full white and not mixed like thailand.
Aff is not that ligt and she looks full thai with those giant eyes. Its funny how you didn’t benz or pOh because those 2 are forever being ridicule and made fun of because of their dark skin.
Please show me a picture with Aff being dark skin. You can’t and you’re just being in denial. As for big eyes, most south east Asians have big eyes. I don’t see the point you’re making. Viewers decide who they want to see and if having people who look mixed on the screen is what they prefer, it’s what they get. Aff still looks mix, even though she may not be.
Anyway, Hollywood is full of mixed blood. The majority of whites in America are mix. As for Hollywood, and America basically, it’s full of discrimination. Don’t you think people notice it? Don’t you see all the Asians complaining of it? Don’t you see all the Blacks complaining of it? Don’t you see all the Latinos complaining of it? It is NOT something to be proud of or to be praised of.
I wanted to apologize for my harsh tone previously, but I’m just upset that it is 2012 and people are still ignorant and discriminating against race. Are people not allowed to fall in love with someone of a different race than them? I keep saying that people can’t choose the blood they’re born with. We shouldn’t restrict what they can and cannot do or can and cannot get just because they’re mixed. Why shouldn’t Chompoo get the title “Kim Taehee of Thailand?” She loves Thailand, she can speak and read Thai, she’s a famous Thai Celebrity. The only problem is because she’s mixed, right? How can she correct that so that she can get the title? She can’t. How are you NOT blaming and punishing the children of parents that married out of their race by telling her she can’t get the title because she happens to be mixed?
You and I, along with many others, have been insulted for being the race we are. We should learn from that and treat others based on who they are, not based on their race because we know, from personal experience, that it hurts. You don’t think Chompoo would be hurt if you told her she shouldn’t get this title because she is mixed? Does it not matter how Chompoo feels because she’s mixed? You may not believe you’re racist, but what you are stating here in the comments are acts of racism, preferring people with full Thai blood over mix.
And there is a bit of racism in thailand because there are also thai-chinese people with light skin that think they are superior to certain full thais with dark skin.
HELLO! Do you have a reading disability?!??! I wasn’t blaming the children! I was blaming the talent scouts that scout only halfies that are dominating every lakorn on ch. 3 right now!!! Thailand is still against people (thai people) with dark skin because they would consider them
as poor because they assume that they are farmers working iut in the sun too long, which is the most bizarre thing i ever heard of. So, this does resemble racism except everybody in thailand is the same race except they just have different skin tones.
And lastly, i WAS NOT blaming the luk kruengs parents for making them halfies. I was just pointing out the fact that how come talent scouts always scout a halfie instead of full thais because there are a bunch of full thai roaming in thailand because i visit family in thailand and have witnessed it. I feel sorry for the full thais over there that scouts dont usually pick them because dark or tan skin is not a trend in asia and thailand. I have nothing against the luk kruengs or their parents but i blame the talent scouts and thai entertainment for the overpopulation of luk kruengs on the screen, especially on ch. 3…. Yaya, kim, anne, chompoo, matt, susie, nadech, willy, mam katheelya, willy, mew lalita, and the next princess of entertaiment is probably going ti be another luk krueng instead of a full thai like aff or ploy chermarn.
You weren’t blaming the parents, no, you were blaming their children. Like I said, we can’t decide what blood we’re born with, but you keep loving to point out how noone should get anything good in life if they’re mixed.
But Muddie Murda don’t you think this is weird how 99,9999999% of CH3 promoted newbies are mixed ? Now I doubt CH3 would promote a girl like Nao who is full thai and not light skinned.
or any other girls that has Aum Phiyada features
Weird? I’ve come to terms with it in the 90′s. 99% of singers were mixed and some weren’t even Thai.
Anyway, I don’t see anything wrong with it because most of them live in Thailand, love Thailand, can speak, and read Thai. The only thing they lack, according to yall, is their blood, which they can’t control.
Well, I could be wrong but I noticed that a lot of the popular stars now* in Ch3 are half. However, the popular ones in Ch7 before and even til now have always been pure thai. Mixed girls don’t have much chance of becoming popular in Ch 7 or in other channels. Thanks to the talented Ann Thongprasom who paved the way for mixed girls, Ch3 is comparatively more open to mixed people. I think that kind of makes it fair, don’t you think? Full Thais promoted in most channels except for Ch3. I mean, it’s just one channel. Chompoo had to go there because she wasn’t getting much from Ch7, from what I’ve heard.
If Arissa Vile from Ch7 had moved to Ch3 for instance, it’s possible she could’ve been a good nang-ek but since she’s in CH7 she got stuck with nang rai roles. :/ Also, I wonder if Yaya would have gotten her roles if she were a Ch7 actress. She’d probably get stuck with either supporting character parts, and we would’ve have the amazing Yadech, etc.
Thailand should promote full thais like how hollywood has a bunch of full-blooded white well known/famous stars who are a-listers!!!!
Full blooded whites? LOL Okay, now I know you’re being ridicules.
You obviously don’t know what racism is. Let me enlighten you.
Racist: a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others.
Just because you think others are being racist, it doesn’t mean it’s okay to jump on the bandwagon with them. And if you want to blame the scouts and Thai entertainment for having the screen full of luk kruengs, then you need to blame yourself as well. “Aff is what a full thai beauty truly looks like to represent Thailand.” (Hmmm, light skin and has mixed looks features, except she HAPPENS to be full Thai.)
And I like how you think America’s true race is supposedly white. *rolling eyes*
How the heck am i racist?!?! I was just pointing out the fact that luk kruengs (thai/farang blood) get more noticed and praised for their beauty more than full thais. Thailand is already portraying racism on the screen and in society because they view light white skin as beautiful. If someone had dark skin (which are usually full thais), they get ridiculed and are usually portrayed as nang’rais or maids.
For instance, people and other celebrities always tell Benz Pornchita or Poh Nattawut that they’re so dark and should stay out of the sun. If you
made comments like that in america, you would
get beat up or killed. I’m sure benz or poh laugh about it, but theyre probably hurt in the inside. That’s already considered as a racism comment if you were in america. So, thailand is racist anyway so that’s why talent scouts spot and discover halfies because of their light skin which isnt fair at all, and it doesnt give a chance for full thais to pursue an acting or model career because of their dark skin. No wonder, pat napa bleached her skin.
Just to clarify what i said in my last post Jennifer. I wasn’t calling you racist, I said that it would be wrong for the *Thai industry* to choose someone based on how pure their blood was. I said that because in your post above it, you were wondering why they didn’t choose someone like Aff, who was full Thai to represent Thailand’s beauty.
In another scenario, I’d actually agree with you- like, if this was a beauty contest and they were looking for the perfect candidate to represent Thailand…then yes, I think maybe someone 100 percent Thai might look better. But in this case, it’s just a magazine* photo shoot – nothing more, nothing less. The model was not supposed to be representative of anything. In the Korean mag, they just stated their opinion that she reminded them of Kim Tae Hee. I don’t agree with them either, but it’s their opinion. I don’t think it was a case of favoring half farangs at all- it was just one photo shoot of a popular celebrity who happened to be half white. I understand what you were saying about those who prefer white skin over dark, half farang over pure – that’s wrong, too and I agree with that. But that is a different matter entirely from this article on Chom.
I’m just confused why this magazine cover of Chompoo’s has caused so much discussion O_O when it’s just one of many.
Also, when it comes to the acting industry it’s not just the looks of a person, but the overall package. Ann Thongprasom is Ch 3 leading actress and she’s half too…I don’t see many complain about her. Because she’s good in her roles and has range, I guess.
With regards to newbies like Yaya and Mint…I think the reason why they are popular is because they’re really CUTE…I mean, when Nadech and Yaya came out in Duang Jai Akanee you’ve got to admit they had a certain appeal. I don’t think it was because Yaya was half. If another cute, pure thai actress was cast, I’m sure she’d be popular too. The way I see it, maybe it’s just a coincidence that nowadays there are lots of popular halfies. I mean, back in 2008, it was all about Aum and Aff (who are pure thai) and they had great chemistry in JLR. Now, it’s about Nadech and Yaya who got popular from their cuteness in Duang Jai and in Game Rai Game Ruk. So maybe it just so happens that if a couple is exciting and interesting, they become the rage.
In Chompoo’s case, she has no koo kwan, but she’s pretty, she always seems happy and ‘ready to play’ in all the pics I’ve seen of her and she chooses different kinds of roles. She also has crazy fashion sense so maybe that’s part of her appeal. It’s normal that she’ll get popular and have her own set fans, too. It shouldn’t stop the other actresses (pure or not) from getting popular on their own. You’ve got to hand it to her, she causes people to talk, whether she’s liked or not.
I think what MM82 is trying to say is that there are only a few who are mixed celebs in Korea, whereas there’s a lot in Thailand. In Thailand, they are more popular because Korea is a homogenous country.
——-
Anyways, I think both actresses are beautiful and different in their own right! Love Chompoo’s hair color and that last dress!!
I don’t think Chompoo is all that and yes she looks like miley cirus.
And I thought I was the only one noticing this “luk kreung” or the extreme light skinned n’eks demands. I will add this problem sometimes makes me like Ch7 more than Ch3 because the former still promotes the full thai beauty with actresses like Nao, Mai, Noon, Sammie, jakjaan ect… what is not the case of Ch3 : their newbies are mostly mixed with white or white looking. And I notice that about all mixed actresses/actors the mothers are thai and the fathers are white (this tells about this trend of more and more asian girls leaving their asian male counterparts to white men)
Might be because it’s the White males who come to Thailand looking for love. LOL Women leaving their husbands for other men are just as much as men leaving their women for other women.
lol. idk…..but [unrelated] she looks quite similar to miley cyrus. hahahahaha
