Having the 5.5.55 wedding. The year maybe 2012 in the Gregorian calendar, but in the Buddhist calendar, it’s the year 2555. If you are into numbers, it’s a good day to have a wedding. Thirty-two old managing director of CEO Agrifoods ‘Tim’ Pita Limjaroenrat has decided on this day to wed his actress bride, twenty-five year old ‘Tai’ Chutima Teepanat–she is mostly a film actress from such films as Hormones, Season Changes, and Dear Galileo. They have been dating for a few years and their relationship is well documented in the media. On youtube, there is a stalker type video clip of them eating out and being affectionate with one another. He is an up and comer who helped propell his father’s agricultural company from ruins–I don’t want to trivialize his feat and compare it with a leading man character in a lakorn. It was a fairy tale, underdog rise to success, today he is the managing director to a multi-million dollar (or billion in baht) company.
A few years ago, his father started up an agricultural company while he was studying at Harvard and MIT, two months later his father passed away leaving the company’s future and debt in his hands. At the time, Tim was 24. Tim immediately flew back to Thailand, took control of his family’s finances and company, focused on oil bran and the rest is history. You can read about it here. As for Tai, she is beautiful talented actress.
The couple married at the Sukhothai hotel in Bangkok and will have the second part of their wedding in December.
Reporters: Tell us about the morning ceremony.
Tim: The guests arrived around 8:30 am, we exchanged rings at 9:45 am and the kan mak (presents to the bride’s family) was arranged at 9:00 Am.
At manager, he was reported as saying: ‘in the morning, the engagement ceremony occurred at 7am. There was only family, our parents. We exchanged rings in the morning. It rained this morning, so we were unable to do the procession (wedding procession to the bride). Thus the weather wasn’t too hot. We payed homage to our elders (bowing) and signed our marriage certificate.’
Reporters: How did you feel and how excited were you?
Tai: Excited, I felt like has this day finally come. I am going along with the steps.–I could have translated the last part wrong
Tim: I am very happy because all our family is here, just 70 people. The people we love our here, our close friend, today is the ritual, our reception is in December.
Reporters: How much is the dowry?
Tim: Not too much, not too little
Reporters: How many carats is the ring
Tim: I am not sure myself, my mother took care of it.
Reporters: Tai, many people see you as a very lucky girl to marry Tim
Tai: I truly feel lucky, he is a lovable person, a romantic, a good person, and her person who loves everything about me.
Reporters: What makes you drawn to Tai? (or impressed by Tai)
Tim: Many see our 7-8 years age gap…the reason is I was living aboard all this time. Since my father passed away 5-6 years ago, I have had to work at the company. When I feel tired or distress, I tell her. She is always glad to listen. She understand some of it and some of it she doesn’t understand. To have someone to listen to you, it’s a good feeling.’
Reporters: Tai, why have you chosen Tim as your husband?
Tai: Honestly because of everything, he is consistent, faithful, romantic, and has always taken good care of me.
Reporters: Many have observed you might be to young to marry, are you ready?
Tai:I am ready. I am not too young or too old, it’s just right.’
Reporters: Since you are married now, when will you have kids?
Tim: About having kids, we are waiting until December. My thought is, after a year, we should start having kids. Let it happen naturally. My mother is not rushing us, her thought is on what is suitable. Personally, I want 4 kids (laughs). I don’t know if she will agree to that or not. I have a younger brother, it’s good to have him around. It makes me feel like I am not the last person in this universe. I don’t want a middle child. I want more than three, four is just right. We have to discuss it again, but love big families.’
Tai: Lets try it out first, lets see if we can handle it (laughs).
Tim: About the honeymoon, we are waiting until December. I have decided to marry today because of convenience and the auspicious date. Today is an auspicious day and tomorrow May 6 is an auspicious day for Tai’s family.
Tim: My family adores Tai very much, they have considered her family for a long time now. It’s not that nervewrecking, I felt that way since the first day to this day. We have been dating for more than 3 years. I met her when she was filming ‘Dear Galileo’ in Italty. At the time I was studying in America, I had to stop over there and we met. The ostacle we faced is the distance. But I felt confident in Tai.
Tai: I had to endure it too, we used the internet, I missed him. We talked everyday, it helped some until that day we would meet again.
Life after the wedding…
Tim: As for work in the entertainment industry, I want her to be a housewife more so. The thing that she studied for, my company does need a person in the marketing department. I want her to come help. If she wants to accept work in the industry, it’s up to her.
Tai: As for me, I am okay with everything. It’s up to him.
Tim: There is a lot of changes I have to make after getting marry, a lot of sacrifices. Our bridal house will be at my condo in Tong Lor, my house is there too. I promised her I will use today as a guideline for our life and future together. I will be consistent, faithful, I can use love as a noun or as a behavior (action). But I will make our love be a behavior (action) more than a noun.—what he is saying, he is going to do more action than just saying I love you. At least that is what I got from it.
Reporters asked Tim if he had anything special to say to her now, his response: ‘I have told her everything, our feelings for one another. She is a member in my family. Since my father passed away, my mother has been lonely, she is the only woman in the family. She has added to my family. My father up in heaven would welcome this daughter-in-law (tears up).’
Tai:I will take care of P’Tim to the best of my abilities–not annoy him–to be a good girl. Finally this day has arrived…I want (tears up) to start a good family with him and I will be consistent and faithful.
