Twenty-eight year old “Giftza” Piya Pongkulapa of the RS records girl group ‘Girly Berry’ refused to take a breathalyzer test at a DUI checkpoint on the mouth of Soi (Road) Thanon Phatthanakan 37. Giftza was driving a black Honda Fit license plate 2273 Bangkok. She drove to the checkpoint followed by a male friend, they had just came from drinking at Soi Thong Lo.
At first, Giftza refused to take the breathalyzer test and even threatened the police officers with a call from a superior officer that she knows. At the same time, she was calling a friend to come pick her up. The police officers refused to give in to all her nonsense.
As reporters arrived at the scene, Giftza went to sit in her friend’s car until 3 am to hide. Say what, you can do that? Delay the process. Later she came out and gave an interview to the reporters, she explained she has a celebrity friend who drank 2 glass of beer and was given a breathalyzer test which came out to be a blood alcohol level of 50 milligram per cent (.05%) because it was within the legal drinking limit, that person was not charged with DUI. Giftza said she would do the breathalyzer test once she feels better.
As she is waiting with the officers, she drank 3 bottle of water. Finally at 3:30am, 2 hours later, she took the breathalyzer test which came out to 82 milligram per cent (.082%) above the drinking limit of .05%. She was charged with DUI and sent to the Khlong tan Police Station.
On her twitter account the next day September 12, 2012, Giftza apologized to her fans, her record company RS, her friends and family and said she made a mistake, she was in the wrong. She will treat this as a life lesson that she will never do again.
When asked if she threatened the officers with a call from a superior officer she knows, she said she didn’t.
Giftza has been suspended by her record company for 3 months.

The more water you drink and the longer you wait the better chance you have of lowering the level. This little brat totally played the waiting game but lost. She needs to be charged with more than just a DUI. She has no respect for the law or the police officers trying to do their job. Nickhun drank and drove, shame on him but he was grown up enough to take responsibility for his actions. This little brat tried everything she could to wizel her way out of it. If she would’ve owned up to her actions than I would be more incline to forgive but she did the opposite so in my opinion she doesn’t deserve the same kindness as Nickhun, and no I’m not a Nickhun fan either.
I always thought that it is only after 8 hours that your alcohol levels start to decrease, so technically when you wake up in the morning that is when your levels will be highest despite you having had a nights sleep, so by her waiting 2 hours it would in fact only make it worse, and how exactly does drinking lots of water help your levels, alcohol gets absorbed into your blood stream, does she think that water washes it out again.
I don’t condone drinking and driving, it’s incredibly stupid and dangerous. People do this without thinking seriously about the consequences and don’t care for the lives they can hurt and end, I absolutely hate people like this. No matter how drunk you are, even if you’re not in your right mind, you should have been responsible, beforehand, knowing you’re going out to drink, to call a cab or bring a sober friend who’d be nice enough to play chaffeur for you.
She was stupid, knew she was guilty, tried to delay the process to see if she could’ve gotten out of it, but still got caught anyways. I think she should suffer more consequences for disrupting the whole police investigation. And she’s only apologizing and thinking about her actions because she got caught. And so you know, not all people are on Nickhun’s side. He was stupid too and should’ve know better.
Umm everybody is hating her but when nichkhun drink and drive and almost kill someone, people didnt say anything and said “everybody can make a mistake give him a break” REALLY. I know hes good looking but it doesnt mean hes always right

why is Nichkhun being brought into this? Nichkhun was 0.05 and he was not even drunk yet. Both he and the motorcyclist were at fault. Nichkhun stayed, admitted his wrong and was charged with a DUI and took full responsibility for his wrongs. He has been pulled out of commercials, out of special events, etc. You don’t need to compare him to this girl. She is the one trying to get out of this by making an excuse about a friend with .05 alcohol level, threatening with a higher up police officer, and refusing to cooperate. Take your Hate somewhere else.
If you want to hate hate the Red Bull heir. He drove drunk, hit a police officer and dragged his body for several blocks underneath his car, and then tried to have it covered up by having his family driver take the blame. How pathetic is that? So, how many of you are going to stop drinking Red Bull?
Nichkhun didnt kill the motorist, there were few scratches and bruises only. Get it straight. He stayed and helped the victim after the crash. He didnt try to stall the test…
