Ploy and Lydia will battle it out in “Star Dance”

I saw the teaser “Rabum Duang Dao (Star Dance)” a few weeks ago, it scared the living ‘who’ out of me. Each character seemed shady and despicable, even the nang’ek–shaking her tush and doing a lesbian kiss. Oh my lord, faints.

Meuy, the nang’ek played by singer “Lydia” Sarunrat Visutthithada, won’t be your typical prissy nang’ek. She is a good person, but does not act ‘sandee’, like a good girl. She will shake her tush, show off her cleavage to succeed in the Thai entertainment industry. Her image is of a sexy tough girl. Really she is not like that at all. She is a just a poor girl trying to make it big, so that she can take care of her mother and younger siblings.

On the other side of the spectrum, we have Namwan, our villain played by Ploy Chermarn. Namwan is pretty, rich, and a famous leading actress. She has been in many lakorns and is very popular among audiences. On the surface, she seems like a good person. Behind the scenes, she has many secrets and is just crazy. Namwan has slept her to the top, she only associates with people who will make her be a star. Namwan is having an affair with a famous plastic surgeon name Watit (Thanakorn Posayanon) to maintain her beauty. She sleeps with him in order to keep it a secret that she has had plastic surgery done before.

Namwan’s archenemy is Rommee (Aerin Siripon), a famous actress too. Rommee usually takes on the sexy girl roles. Rommee and Namwan do not get along at all because Rommee knows Namwan’s true self–that Namwan is a faker and not as innocent as she pretends to be. Their hostile relationship worsened when Meuy enters the Thai Entertainment industry. Meuy and Rommee become fast friends and Namwan becomes even more ticked off with Rommee. Meuy is new and fresh, a rising star. Namwan sees Meuy as a threat to her stardom and does everything possible to tarnish Meuy’s image and career.

In the midst of all this girl on girl drama, we have reporter Payut (Oil Thana). Though everyone sees him as  just another shabby reporter, he is not. His family is pretty wealthy, his father owns a large newspaper company, he just out in the field learning the family trade. When Meuy is being bullied by Namwan, Payut is there to help her.

“Rabum Duang Dao (Dance of the Stars)” will air next Thursday, August 26, 2010 on Ch3. I’m sure I’m not the only person who has noticed this, Ploy Chermarn has been typecasted in the two-face nang’rai role. Have you noticed, all her characters now are strong two-faced nang’rais–good on the outside, just plain despicable on the inside. She has been playing the same role over and over for nearly all of her lakorns lately.

‘Two desires’

Two desires, a common theme for lakorns.

“Song Pratthana (Two Desires)” is Paula Taylor and Pong Nawat’s first lakorn together and filming has begun since the 25th of this month. The lakorns stars Kem Rujira as the nang’rai, usually she plays nang’ek (leading lady) for Ch3. It’s not an official move to Ch5, it’s just one project. The supporting cast includes: Guy Ratchanon with “Pim” Pimmada Borriruksooppakorn and Puri Hiranpruk with Aerin Siripon.

It’s something different said Paula Taylor about “Two Desires”, she has never done something like this before.  Paula has been away from lakorns for 4 years, this series marks her return. The lakorn is a romantic drama and the actors described it as ‘intense’. All lakorns are intense.

Same patterns, different styling–Paula at the opening ceremony for her lakorn and Aum for Inside TV magazine

Loving the 2nd generation of ‘Ching Chang’

My new obsession, forget ‘Namtan Mai (Burnt Sugar)’ and ‘Dok Bua Kao (White lotus)’, Ching Chang rocks! To honest with everyone, I haven’t been keeping up with this lakorn, so I don’t know what the hey-lo is up. From episode 1-32, it was a whole lot crazy and I was not watching that–sibling rivalry, betrayal, prostitutes, murder, attempted murder, loads of sex (nothing wrong with that), sisters trying to steal each others’ husbands, using black magic to seduce the woman you love, what the fudge? Lets just say the first half of ‘Ching Chang’ was all sorts of loony. I couldn’t keep up.

Then the second half came along, oh, so refreshing! Loving those young actors, I’m just smitten with the second generation!

The second generation, all roughly 18 years old:
Yongchai—’Ball’ Vittawats Sigklumpong
Atit—’Pookhai’ Phongsiree Banluewong
Ging Gaanda—Aerin Siripon
Koi Kalaya— ‘Toey’ Jarinporn Junkiat
Arisa—’Mae’ Paweesuda Janket (Mae the Star 4)
Sanchai—Detbodin Chaithongdee

Atit is Aree (Pang Ornjira) and Ping (‘Num’Uttaporn Teemakorn)’s son. Aree abandoned Atit when he was a baby to marry a wealthy man. She has a daughter name Arisa with her new husband. Atit is raised by his aunt Im (Jieb Sopitnapa) and he does know the identity of his biological mother via pictures. He believes his father Ping is dead, dude is still alive.

Yongchai is Yod (Captain Puthanate) and Oon (‘Pim’ Pimmada Borriruksooppakorn)’s son, I’m not too sure though. You can tell by his personality is very much like his parents, bold and mischievous. Like Atit, he is raised by his aunt Im. Yongchai does not know the identity of his biological father, but he does have contact with his mother to whom he resents because she is a prostitute. Oon adores her son and visits him often bearing gifts. He would usually throw all her gifts away.

Ging Gaanda and Koi Kalaya are Yod’s daughters. From episode 35, we learn that Ging is not biologically related to Yod but he loves her like his own. Koi, she is his daughter. Also, in the second half of “Ching Chang”, Yod has amnesia.

Sanchai is some hoodlum, not related to this crazy family.

So Arisa, Atit, Yongchai, Koi are maternally related, they are all cousins. And, attending the same university.

The 4 sisters: 3rd eldest Bang-On (Ann), 2nd eldest Oon (Pim), eldest Im (Jieb), youngest Aree (Pang). The mothers of the second generation.

The second generation appeared on episode 33 with the introduction of Yongchai (Ball) and Atit (Pookhai), paddling a boat ashore as their aunt Im calls out for them.

My dear friend, you must watch episode 33, it was good, love Ball, great young actor with major mega-star potential. This uni-brow actor will blow you away. Trust me.

Is she drunk or high?

Old pictures of Aerin Siripon, nang’rai from “Gaew Lom Phet”, smoking a cancer stick and looking drunk or maybe high. The first picture, she can’t deny, she is smoking. The second picture of Aerin looking dazed and confused, some are suspecting she is not drunk at all, rather she is high as a kite. Which one is it? There is even a third explanation, she was blinded by the camera flash. I choose the first option, she was drunk.

“I’m hurt people are thinking that way, it’s an old picture. You still don’t know the source of the pictures, but yet people are interpreting it that way. I work 7 days a week and attend school. If I’m doing drugs, I don’t think I can handle all of this, I would be exhausted. I wouldn’t do it. The feedback from the people I know and are closest to me asked me whether I was okay or not because they know the truth, how it is. I want people out there to be the same, to have a good judgment about me.” Aerin explaining herself after being accuse of doing drugs.

Regarding the picture of Aerin smoking, Khun Boy Takolkait Weerawan defends her and asked reporters not to harm the reputation of a person in the entertainment business. Lame, honestly did he think they would listen. I think it is more of a symbolic gesture, meaning he supports her. Her vice is smoking, it could be worst. I heard Aom Piyada Akarasene smokes too, of course there is no proof, someone did mentioned it at the comment section at Manager news website.
