Don’t start throwing stones at me, I didn’t say it, someone else did. This is what a person going by the identity of PUME left at Manager news website about the Miss Thailand Universe 2009 winner: “the transgender (Katoey) pageant had a better looking winner than her.” Apparently, people are agreeing, it received 124 approval points from other readers.
A person who watched the entire pageant was also not happy with the result and commented that the winner looked like a katoey (transgender), “I stayed up all night waiting for the results because this year there was a lot of beautiful contestants. When the final 5 came out, I only like the second runner up person, Nong Keekit, I thought she was very cute, very natural looking, her answers were sincere even though when she spoke it wasn’t clear. She tried her best to talk in Thai throughout the competition. As for the person who won, she spoke Thai very well and also made an effort to present her English skills to the point where it became comical. In the last round of questioning, she was speaking in Thai, then all of the sudden she broadcast to everyone her love for her mother in English. In terms of her voice and face when she said it, she was extremely acting OVER (meaning she was really faking it), when she won the best skin award, I don’t know how she won that, her face had markings everywhere. To tell you the truth, I think she looks like a katoey (transgender). Though she is an intelligent person, honestly, if we were to have a competition which involved measuring a person’s skill, resourcefulness, I don’t think the other contestants would be inferior to Kaimook (the winner’s nickname). There is Nong Gee who also studied aboard since she was little, but she didn’t go “OVER (meaning going overboard(” like Kaimook…” The person continued to say, Miss Universe Thailand won’t have a chance in the Miss Universe pageant for the final round.
The winner of the Miss Thailand Universe 2009 pageant is “Kaimook” Chutima Chantelle Durongdej, she is 23 years old, a graduate student from City University, London, UK in Msc.Business Managment. She weighs 57 Kg (125.6 lbs) and stands 177 cm (5’10″) tall.
Being crowned Miss Thailand Universe, she received several prizes: 1 million baht ($28,241 USD), 2.0 G Toyota Camry, the tiara and costumes from Beauty Gem. Beside winning the crown, Kaimook also won other awards. She won the Miss Popular award from Thairath newspaper worth 200,000 baht ($5,648 USD), the Miss Beautiful Skin award from Scotch Collagen-E, worth 100,000 baht ($2,824 USD) and the supply of Scotch Collagen-E products for 1 year. Pretty much health drinks and supplemental health food products, something I would definitely not eat or drink. In August, she will head to Nassau, Bahamas to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. It will be seen on NBC.
The Miss Thailand Universe pageant was shown on Ch7 and was hosted by Por Natawut, Sunya Kunakorn (the coolest four-eyes TV host), and Aimee Glinpratoom. “Pancake” Khemmanid Jamikorn, Navin Tar and younger brother Tawin Yaowapalakul performed at the event. Former Miss Thailand Universe winners, Aimee Morakot Kittisara and Charm Onwarin Osathanond were also there.
