When King of Sippapak  suddenly passed away and then his wife soon after Janthrapa Dinasty (a place) had only one pretty Princess Sisira (Rita Jensen) and her younger brother Prince Tharathep left. So, it caused Konjanat, a bureaucrat, to seize their throne and succeed himself as the ruler. The marriage proposal in the “Cupid’s path”

One of my all time favorite lakorn would have to be “Taung Pan Gammathep (Cupid’s passage way, Cupid’s path, ทางผ่านกามเทพ)” starring Janie Tienposuwan and Andrew Gregson. It aired back in 2001 on Ch3 when Janie still had her old nose and Andrew was slender. You could not grasp how obsessed I use to be about this lakorn. I have watched it 3 times now, full runs, not just random favorite scenes. For me, I consider that a lot of hours devoted to one lakorn and I have never watch a lakorn more than once, maybe select scenes, I do.

A scene that I distinctively remember and occasionally go back to watch because it is that good is the marriage proposal scene. It was pure entertainment and intense. It wasn’t a marriage proposal, it was more of a bargaining plan, an option she can choose because she stole 1 million baht ($29, 779 USD) from him. Her evil sister played by “Aom” Sakawjai Poolsawas needed cash badly because she was being blackmailed by the guy villain of the lakorn or maybe she was in debt with the mob. I don’t remember, I didn’t care too much about her. All we need to know is that Janie needed money to help her evil sister and she stole that money from Andrew. When he found out, he was livid and felt betrayed but still he wanted her. What is the guy to do? He forced her into marriage that’s what he did. HAHA. LOVES it!

Janie is Pat in the series and Andrew is Pope, they are in-laws. Her sister Pim (Aom Sakawjai) is married to his father played by Montree JenAksorn, the man currently playing Ploy Cherman’s father in “Namtan Mai (Burnt Sugar)”. If you want to be technical, Janie is Pope’s aunt by marriage. Kinda weird.

At the beginning of the lakorn, Pope (Andrew) returns from studying aboard and learns his father has left his beloved stepmother to marry a woman who is half his age. He considers his new younger stepmother a gold-digger.To get back at his father, on the day of his father’s wedding, he organized a plan to kidnap the bride and make his father lose face. Being stood up at the altar is humiliating and Pope wanted to humiliated his father to the utmost. One problem, he kidnapped the wrong person, he kidnapped her younger sister Pat (Janie) instead. He takes her to his private island and held her captive for several weeks as his father, unbeknowst to Pope, honeymooned with his new bride in Europe. Gradually, Pope falls in love with his captive Pat because she is not the woman he was expecting, Pat is a lovely woman who can cook and be nurturing, drastically different from her older sister Pim, but he doesn’t know that at this point.

In episode 5 he releases Pat when he gets a letter from his younger sister stating that their father was in a car accident while honeymooning in Europe. After reading the letter he looks at Pat and realizes he kidnapped the wrong woman. When he dropped her off at her house, he looks down and asked, ‘before you leave, can you tell me if you are the real Khun Pimonpa (her older sister) or not?’

“I can be whoever you want me to be.” She answered. She said her goodbyes and got out of the car, leaving him feeling guilty for what he had done. GOOD, GOOD scene.

Andrew Gregson is seeing someone

Come on, not Andrew too. Mr. Private, Mr. Godly Pra’ek, Andrew Gregson of Ch3 is rumored to be dating the eldest daughter of Dr. Thanong Bidaya, Thailand’s former Finance Minister. Her name is “Nam” Witchuya Bidaya and most recently he has taken her to America to a party thrown by one of his good friends. Their relationship is currently at the beginnings stages and Daradaily gossip newspaper claim there are pictures of the couple being ‘sweet’ together at the party. I wanna see. Publish the pictures now!

A little tidbit about her, she is older than him.

Andrew finds Rita Jensen amusing

Rita is sweet and somewhat gullible, according to Andrew Gregson and he finds it very amusing. On the set of “Moonlight Crown”, Andrew loves to tease Rita and she falls for it every time.

“Rita, she is a person who is easily startled regarding things that are strange to her. She loves to say “really”!! (Andrew widen his eyes to impersonate Rita) Because she has never seen it before. She is defintitely not faking it. She is a very lively person and I love to tease her. This is the first time I’m working with her, it is very fun.” Andrew said.

Rita has said this about her leading man Andrew on the set of “Moonlight Crown”:

“Andrew loves to play jokes on me, he likes to say things to make me scared. In scenes where I have to use special effects, he likes to playfully tease me, it’s very fun. I have been working with a lot of very talented actors, it has been very fun thus far. When I’m on set, especially when Uncle Ning Nirut is there, he likes to constantly tease me. Everyone has been sweet and we are all very friendly together.”

It’s nice to hear. I’ve heard horror stories on lakorn set of actor and actresses not getting along. It’s nice to know, everyone on the set of “Moonlight Crown” is having a good time.

The picture of Rita and Andrew look very sincere, I’m sure he was teasing her and she caught on to it.

An update on “Moonlight Crown”

Pictures from Rita’s fanclub from the lakorn set. Ah…Rita’s wedding dress for the force marriage scene. It looks like a wedding cake on top and clusters of puffy pink cherry blossoms on the bottom. No offense, it’s kinda ugly. At least her make-up is flawless.

I wonder if they talk? From what I know about Andrew, he is not much of a speaker, he is not chatty, he comes off as distant to many of his co-stars. He does his scene and quickly go into his own corner. Andrew is literally the tall, handsome, silent type.

Andrew wants a girlfriend

[Andrew in Praew magazine for their May 2009 issue]

“I don’t want to single, but I’m single” says Andrew Gregson who is experiencing a dry spell since his return to the spotlight. In terms of his comeback, Andrew is doing well for himself, his sitcom “Game Loon Ruk (The Love Promotion Game)” in which he stars and produces is doing fairly well rating wise.

“”he ratings for “Game Loon Ruk)” is very good, there has been an increase in the people who are watching.”–I must be the only person who is not watching. I saw the first episode, then I stopped. It wasn’t funny, it was rather bland.

Continuing on about Andrew’s love life….

“Regarding matters of the heart, how is that going for you?” A reporter asked him.

“I’m still accepting applications krap,” Andrew replied.

Reporter:“Like this, you might be like Tao Somchai who randomly married.”

Andrew:“No, NO, NO, I’m too busy. I don’t have the time to start a relationship with anyone who will wait for me.”

Then the reporter asked him the strangest question to which I still don’t understand the meaning. He or she asked, “Do you want it to be like how the lightning strikes?” Andrew answered, “I want it like that but usually I just work.” I guess in terms of a relationship, he wants a spark, he wants a magical relationship. I think that is what they are asking. Because he is so busy, he can’t hold a relationship.

From Ginger:

“Do you want it to be like how the lightning strikes?”

The Thais usually refer this to a marriage w/o a warning, sort of like meet today and marry tomorrow sort of thing, this will shock and take everyone by surprise.

Thank you Ginger for the explanation.
