Mystery Castle ending already

Tomorrow, “Mystery Castle” starring Rita Jensen and Nat Maurice will end. Wow, that was quick. I know the ratings were bad, as for the series itself, was it good? I can’t really say much about it since I have not been watching it closely, more like a few scenes here and there. I found Nat’s acting horrendous to bear, his manner of speaking threw me off, he came off like a little boy trying to be a big man. Very forced. From the scenes I saw, I was very impressed by the production quality, great fashion sense, lovely shoes (Indeed lovely shoes), amazing architecture, beautiful scenery, everyone’s believable acting minus Mr. Nat over there. An absolute miscast. With a different pra’ek, I would have watched it. Also, the closest filled with teddy bears and Ganya talking to her ‘nangfah (angel)” lady, ah weird.

Replacing it is Janie Tienposuwan and “Nok” Chatchai Plengpanich’s lakorn “Nam Peung Kom (Bitter Honey or Bitter Nectar)”, good gosh, an older man and younger woman love story with a lot of complicated bananas in between. This is a remake of Sam Yuranan and Pupae Ramavadi’s lakorn, can’t say much about it since I have never seen it. I hear it’s a classic, a very good one at that.

In “Nam Peung Kom (Bitter Honey or Bitter Nectar)”, Janie is playing a young woman by the name of Kangsadarn, her mother is Rose (Jariya Anfone), who used to be Purim (Nok Chatchai)’s lover 20 odd years ago. According to the summary, Rose brutally hurt Purim and he has never forgiven her. When he sees her again after 20 years, he wants revenge and uses her daughter Kangsadarn (Kang) as a tool to do so. Errr…kinda ew! He has been with the mother now he is going for the daughter, I don’t know, kinda twisted.

Teaser:

October 16, 2009 is the airdate for “Nam Peung Kom”. See more pictures of the cast here.

Aum Atichart’s lakorn receives 9 million hits on youtube

Not because it is a great lakorn or a great episode, it’s because of porn and crazy horny men from the Middle East, hoping to see some racy sex clip on youtube but got an episode of Aum Atichart’s lakorn “Gong Juk Lai Dok Bua (Wheel of Dharma or Lotus Wheel)” . In the clip, the character played by actress “Sa” Wanasa Tongwised is being attack by her mobster husband for cruel sex. He forced a tablet of yaba (meth) down her throat and r*pes her.

Don’t judge the lakorn yet, “Lotus Wheel” is actually a ‘cheevit (life lesson)’ lakorn about a man (Chatchai Plengpanich) trying to build a new, richer life for his son (Aum Atichart) using illegal means. By the end, after he killed several people and did some pretty horrid stuff, he finds enlightenment and is killed. His son then joins the monkhood for life to pay for all the sins his father had committed.

The video:

Youtube’s Statistics & Data for this video:

The referral links for this video mostly come from porn sites and other banned porn YT videos. Most lakorns are viewed by women, the demographic for this video is middle age men. Now that is odd. Some made their intentions known by writing this in the comment section: “i thought it was a porn”. Pervs! Seriously, are you that desperate for porn, get some help. There was a lot of comments from  disgruntled horny men for this video and I find that extremely disturbing.

Nok and Chatchai’s 3 children

Nok Sinjai and Chatchai with their 3 children from a few years ago.

“Nok” Sinjai and her husband “Nok” Chatchai Plengpanich have 3 children together, 2 sons and a daughter. We do see a lot of their eldest son, 22 year old “Gan” Sithichok Plengpanich at events and premieres, the other two not so much. “Bomb” Tichakorn Plengpanich, their middle child and only daughter studies in New Zealand, she is 19 years old. Their youngest son is named “Dom” Peradon Plengpanich, he turns 18 this year.

I guess I felt curious today. After glancing through a news article about Gan’s ordination later in the year for 3 months, I began to wonder about Nok Sinjai and Chatchai’s other two children. I have never seen a picture of them or knew their names, so I went hunting. After an hour or two, I finally found them. I even found a video clip of Chatchai and his two sons on the Ratree Samosorn show from December of last year.

Their eldest, Gan (sounds like “Gun”). He graduated this year and will be ordain for 3 months by the end of this year to pay homage to Nok and Chatchai for being great parents.

“Earth, Water, Wind, Fire” premiering after “Dong Poo Dee”

Ch3′s action-packed lakorn “Earth, Water, Wind, Fire (Din, Nam, Lom, Fai; ดินน้ำลมไฟ)” is premiering next week, on May 15, after “Dong Poo Dee” for Ch3′s weekend time slot.

The production cost for this lakorn looks expensive by just reading the cast names, we have “Gof” Akara Amarttayakul, “Goi” Ratchawin Wongviriya, Chakrit Yamnam, Chatchai Plengpanich, Noon Boonyasak, and Joy Rinalee. They are all award-winning, capable Thai actors and actresses, who have been in the Thai entertainment industry for a long time or have recently entered the industry but exhibit exceptional talent (Goi). The production set looks good too, it looks authentic.

The story revolves around a heroine drug lord from the 70s, Parnsak (Chatchai Plengpanich) and four individuals who are trying to bring him down: Fai/Akkee (Chakrit Yamnam), Din (“Gof” Akara Amarttayakul), Lom/Ah-Fong ( “Win” Mawin Taweephol), and Nam (“Goi” Ratchawin Wongviriya). Joy Rinalee is Niorn, Parnsak’s daughter and Din’s love interest. Din and Niorn grew up together in the slums of Thailand, they separated when Niorn moved.

Din found religion and was raised by a monk when his father passed away, he grows up to be a undercover intelligence agent. Niorn grows up to be an aspiring actress and her father, Parnsak is a heroine drug lord. You can read the full synopsis at Tina’s blog.

Once Skinny, Now Round

I have to laugh looking at these “before” pictures because this is the first time I have seen them like this. To me they are just older male actors, who continuously take minor father roles or bizarre older gentleman roles in lakorns to which you want to fast-forward through. It’s bizarre seeing them this skinny, young, and handsome. If I was a teeny bopper back in the late 80′s, I would totally go bananas over them.

The picture above is of veteran actor, Tin Settachok, back in his early 20s. Handsome right? Tall and sophisticated. At present, Tin takes up father roles in lakorns for Ch7. His lakorn “Jaew Jai Rai Gub Khun Chai Taewada” with Pae Arak and Aum Patcharapra is currently on air. Tin plays Pae Arak’s neglectful father.

Thon Chakrit was pra’ek once, back when he was skinny and young. Now he plays a wide range of older male characters. He played a gay man in “Pleuk Seneaha“, an Exact lakorn for Ch5 with Kathaleeya McIntosh and Pong Nawat. I believed he tried to sexually harassed Puri Hiranpruk’s character in the lakorn. It was kinda creepy.

His most recent work I can recall was in “Sai Seup Delivery (Spy Delivery)” on Ch3, he was the police Captain who had a minor crush on Yardthip’s mother.

Sophisticated in black

[Chatchai, Sonia Cooling, Rita, and Tye]

The cast of newly airing lakorn “Soosan Poodaesuan (Poodaesuan’s graveyard)” taping the variety entertainment show Ratree Samosorn for Ch3. I’m loving everyone style and stage presence. They look like stars, mega-stars. Well-groomed and well-dressed, that’s how it should be.

I’m just in love with Rita’s bondage laced high heels, it’s just sex! Rita has been sporting her new shorter hairdo for weeks now, do you dig? I’m undecided about her new do, at times I think soccer mom, a pretty gosh darn hot one. She looks good either way.

Rita is smiling and waving to the photographer.
