Minus the “gangsta gangsta” corn-rolls, you gotta give Pongpat Wachirabunjong props, he did try this time. Usually the man wears jeans and over-size blazers to award shows, today he wore a suit. I’ll take it. You can’t win them all.

Mai Charouenpura accepting her award for her leading role in Memory, a psychological thriller. Her dress is too small, her girls looked pressed down, and are about to pop out. Ee…not a good look.

Recipients of the Special Awards: Seetao Petrajayrin, “Aff” Taksaorn, and Film Rattapoom

I grew up watching Seetao in films and lakorns, he is my favorite oddball “grandpa” place in a series for comedic relief.

Two Darlings of Ch3: Aff and Anne. I like Aff’s dress better because in a sea of gloom and black, she adds color to the mix.

LIPS drenched edition

Dome’s nickname is the “handsome god on stage”–what the hell.

Four infamous male Thai stars graced the cover of LIPS magazine for their May 2009 issue, drenched wearing white Lacoste dress shirts. We have Dome Pakorn (infamous for being a manwhore), Film Rattapoom (infamous for pimping himself out to a gay concert promoter Sia Ood), Mario Maurer (infamous for having a fame-hungry girlfriend and the lawsuit with his former manager Coco), and AF4 “Tol” Vonthongchai Intarawat (I knew little about him, he probably has a gay rumor, every guy celebrity has one).

Film-Mario-Tol.

Film is on the cover to promote his latest album “Film Forward”. He has been in the entertainment industry for 7 years now.

Film’s latest MV

What in the hell…why is he still singing? I’m not much of a Film Rattapoom fan, I can tolerate his acting but definitely not his singing. I can’t believe he has a new album coming out, it’s his fourth one too, entitled “Film Forward”. Can we say cheddar cheese lame?

The first single for the album is “Mai Dai Jeep….(I’m not hitting on you)”. The MV for the song was filmed at the Suvarnabhumi airport. Their presence and filming caused quite a stir among tourists and other Thais there. The attention made Film feel a little nervous and shy because there is a part where he has to dance by himself. Gradually, he got use to the environment and people gawking at him, eventually he started to enjoy himself and was able to perform with ease.

Film explained that his first single for his new album “Mai Dai Jeep….(I’m not hitting on you)” is a light, upbeat song, something you can dance to.

What do you think? The rapping is just horrendous. The MV has been out for 2 weeks now.

“Wonderful Town” wins big at the 18th Suphanahong Awards

Aditya Assarat’s movie“Wonderful Town” took home 5 trophies at the Supanahong Awards (Thai Oscars) a few hours ago held at the Thailand Culture Centre, a big win for the Indie flick. Other than vaguely reading about it at Wise Kwai’s Thai movie Blog, I have never seen the film. I might have to hunt it down. From what I gathered from reading Nathan Lee’s NY Times review and random sites about the film, it’s a depressing love story about a female housekeeper Na (Anchalee Saisoontorn ) and a handsome young architect Ton (Supphasit Kansen) set in the tsunami ravaged town of Takua Pa, Thailand.

Pat and Film’s 2nd lakorn together

Film Rattapoom and Pat Napapa’s 2nd lakorn together “Mon Ruk Kao Dtom Mud (Love spell of Steamed Sticky Rice Pouches with Filling)” is rolling out after “Mae Ka Kanom Wan (Dessert Girl)” on March 9th, 2009. It’s another food themed romance comedy for Ch3, this time by Polypus production. From what I read at Sarnworld, Film and Pat are rivals because their parents hate each other. Back in the day, Pat’s mother use to date Film’s father; however, Film’s father ditched Pat’s mother just when they were about to get marry. Ever since then, Pat’s mother has held a grudge.

About their roles:

Film:“In this lakorn, I have accepted the role of a very sarcastic guy, very different from who I am. He will constantly be bickering with nang’ek because they don’t get along. This lakorn will be like a new type of comedy, I’m sure it will be fun to watch.”

Pat:“In this lakorn, I will be playing a young woman who is very bold and very aggressive with pra’ek. We will bicker and fight often. Whenever, my character sees pra’ek they will fight and he will get a slap quite often.”

Newcomer Ong, Ploy, Pat, and Film

These are “Kao Dtom Mud”, a type of Southeast Asian dessert made from sweeten sticky rice, kidney beans, and banana wrapped in banana leaf and steamed. It’s very hearty and absolutely delicious. It’s a big favorite for religious ceremony (known as “boon”) to welcome the birth of a child or moving into a new home.
