“Earth, Water, Wind, Fire” premiering after “Dong Poo Dee”

Ch3′s action-packed lakorn “Earth, Water, Wind, Fire (Din, Nam, Lom, Fai; ดินน้ำลมไฟ)” is premiering next week, on May 15, after “Dong Poo Dee” for Ch3′s weekend time slot.

The production cost for this lakorn looks expensive by just reading the cast names, we have “Gof” Akara Amarttayakul, “Goi” Ratchawin Wongviriya, Chakrit Yamnam, Chatchai Plengpanich, Noon Boonyasak, and Joy Rinalee. They are all award-winning, capable Thai actors and actresses, who have been in the Thai entertainment industry for a long time or have recently entered the industry but exhibit exceptional talent (Goi). The production set looks good too, it looks authentic.

The story revolves around a heroine drug lord from the 70s, Parnsak (Chatchai Plengpanich) and four individuals who are trying to bring him down: Fai/Akkee (Chakrit Yamnam), Din (“Gof” Akara Amarttayakul), Lom/Ah-Fong ( “Win” Mawin Taweephol), and Nam (“Goi” Ratchawin Wongviriya). Joy Rinalee is Niorn, Parnsak’s daughter and Din’s love interest. Din and Niorn grew up together in the slums of Thailand, they separated when Niorn moved.

Din found religion and was raised by a monk when his father passed away, he grows up to be a undercover intelligence agent. Niorn grows up to be an aspiring actress and her father, Parnsak is a heroine drug lord. You can read the full synopsis at Tina’s blog.

Tata Young’s American movie “Bitter Sweet”

Hmm…I can’t say this is Tata Young’s film, she is not even part of the main cast, she is probably just doing a less than 10 minute cameo to boost interest for the film.

Also, it is an Indie flick, so we might never get a chance to see it, if we don’t live near a major Film festival city.
Cast

The real stars for this film are Kip Pardue and Napakprapa ‘Mamee’ Nakprasit (from the “Art of the Devil”, Thai horror film franchise). Kip is from that really terrible car racing movie “Driven” with Sylvester “Steroids” Stallone and Burt “Too many face lifts” Reynolds. Even on cable TV, I didn’t want to watch it.

Gof Akara is once again portraying a Muay Thai boxer, he was a boxer in the award winning film “Muay Thai Chaiya”. There is a part of me that suspects that the casting director saw him in “Muay Thai Chaiya” and decided to typecast him as a boxer in this film. Singer and nang’ek in many lakorns Tong Pakkaramai will be portraying his gf.

Production info:

BITTER SWEET (Feature – 2008)
Gentre : Romantic Comedy
Location : (Krabi, Bangkok) Thailand
Time : Present Day
Writer/Director : Jeff Hare
Producer : Urs Brunner and Jon Karas

Synopsis:

‘BITTER/SWEET’ is a character-driven romantic comedy, while at the same time, also a classic, ‘fish-out-of-water’ story. The movie is the story of American executive and coffee expert Brian Chandler (Kip Pardue), who seemingly has a ‘perfect’ life. However, things begin to change for Brian after his boss, renegade coffee mogul Calvert Jenkins (James Brolin) sends him to Thailand to inspect a crop for purchase.

Upon arrival, Brian meets Ticha (Napakprapa ‘Mamee’ Nakprasit), a Bangkok PR executive who takes care of Thailand’s glamorous multi-talent diva Tata Young (Tata Young.) Busy herself with work, Ticha has long-since given up on the prospects of finding true love. At the urging of her coffee farmer parents with the hopes that Brian will purchase his coffee there and save the village from cutthroat middlemen, Ticha takes on the task of bringing Brian to the coffee fields of Southern Krabi, and reconciling with her past.

Ticha’s fierce sister Mint (Pakaramai ‘Tong’ Potranan) and her handsome boxing boyfriend Komane (Akara ‘Gof’ Amatayakul), her outgoing best friend Mook (Kalorin ‘Kal’ Nemayothin) and Mook’s outrageously funny expatriate boyfriend Werner (Spencer Garrett), not to speak of Brian’s fiancee Amanda (Laura Sorenson) give interesting sub plots to the story.

Brain and Ticha are the ‘same sides of a different coin’ so they butt heads constantly, to great comic effect. However, as their journey leads them from the cosmopolitan bustle of Bangkok to the picturesque limestones surrounded coffee plantations of Krabi, both Brian and Ticha begin to realize they were made for each other.

Nine Entertainment 2009 Purple Carpet

Just some red purple carpet pictures for the big event. I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of Korean Pop group 2PM. I guess I was the last to know, they are performing their hit maker “10 out of 10″ at the event.

Nickhun is adorable, I love his yellow good luck string.

HAHA, 2PM struggling with their “wais”, I have a feeling some of them were asking themselves, “how long should I hold it, should I stop now?” They seem unsure. Of course being that he is Thai, Nickhun had confident in his wai, though he seems like he is praying.

Attention seeker Ploy Cherman, being very unoriginal and dressing very similar to singer Marsha at the Supanahong Awards. It looks windy in Bangkok.

Gof wins Superstar Reality Talent show

“Gof” Akara Amarttayakul from the movie “Muay Thai Chaiya” reign supreme as the victor of the talent reality show “Superstar” for Modern 9, a show where they make D-list Thai stars do crazy musical numbers on stage. Gof will take home 10 million baht (286,956.40 USD) in cash and other prizes; in all he takes home a total of 17 million baht (487,825.8749 USD) given by the sponsoring real estate company, the LOFTS. The losing, last 3 final contestants: Fluke, Tak Bongkot, and Jik Naowarat also received prizes worth more than 2 million baht (57,391.2794 USD). Wow, that is a lot of “Do-Ri-Me”.

At the end of the show, Gof danced sexily to the beat of Ricky Martin’s “Livin’ La Vida Loca”. Of course, Gof is super happy.

Mamee Nakapapa, Gof’s girlfriend cheers for him in the audience.

The final 4 and the full cast. Looks more like a gay cabaret more than a Talent reality show. X who is wearing the police uniform reminds me of the Village People, kinda makes me wanna do the “YMCA”. Anyone want to upload this for me, I think I want to watch it now.

Fluke and his posse—new friend Paeng and ex-wife Bow & their son Archi came to cheer him on. Weird, new and old lover, impending catfight backstage…hmm.

Here’s Tak doing her bootylicious number, mom looks pissed that she didn’t win.

Do you see Jik in the gold bodysuit? Oh my. And a tiara, oh my again.

-Here is a clip of the show from a few weeks ago, it’s the one where Gof and Jik kissed during their musical number. The kiss starts around the 4:50 time marker.
