October Sonata bombed

“October Sonata or Ruk Tee Ror Koi (Love that waits)” ain’t gonna make it, wrote a person at Pantip forum. Thai people do not like sappy romance drama, the person argued. What about Anne Thongprasom’s movie “the Letter”, asked another Pantip member. It, too, is a sappy romance drama, it did pretty well. The argument continued– they didn’t promote the film well enough, it’s too Korean I can’t stomach it wrote another person. They did promote the film well enough, said another member. So well, they’re tired of hearing about it

Whatever the reason, “Koy” Ratchawin Wongviriya’s latest film “October Sonata or Ruk Tee Ror Koi (Love that waits)” bombed at the Thai box office. Five days in, it has only made 4.1 million baht ($122,913 USD). That’s pretty bad according to these people.

I kinda wanna watch it now after listening to the OST. I have Boyd Kosiyabong’s song for the film,  “So Very Far Apart” on instant replay on my Ipod. You can download the song here.

Love that waits

I was gushing over these pictures of ‘Boy’ Pisanu Nimsakul holding a baby at sanook forum. I had my ‘aw cute’ moment for the day! Cute baby, adorable looking guy with talent, it can’t get any better than this. Then I read the caption, “this is something that many of you might not understand; however, I want to tell you, the people who will understand are the people who have gone and see the film ‘October Sonata’ na ja.” Hm? What does that mean, I have to watch the film to understand the meaning behind these pictures. Okay.

I know a  little bit about the film. It some sappy romantic drama about a girl played by “Koy” Ratchawin Wongviriya who falls in love with a guy she met last Tuesday (I mean briefly) played  by newcomer Thanawat Wattanapoom. They met at the wrong moment because he is going to study aboard for 2 years. So to keep their relationship going, they promise to meet each other again at their spot, a house near the beach two years from now on October 8th. While her lover is away, Koy meets “Boy” Pisanu Nimsakul’s character, a Chinese-Thai college student who madly falls in love with her. He pursues her, she remains true to her lover. Two years quickly went by and October 8th, rolls around, the day she will see her lover again to whom she has been waiting diligently and with loyalty.  But…Dum…dum…DuMMmm…he never shows up. Aw man, what a bummer.

There is this part in the trailer of Boy confronting Koy to make her come to her senses because that guy is never gonna show up, she needs to move on.

Boy:”That guy probably doesn’t love you. Last year, you waited for him but he never showed up. Saeng-Jan (Koy’s character), how long have you waited for him, has he ever called you, how long will you wait for a man who doesn’t exist.”

Then we see Koy crying and screaming in her car late at night. –Okay, I don’t know her.

“This man here, he exists, you know him, and he loves you every day, every month, every year, and every minute TOO, ” Boy continues to tell her with tears in his eyes. Aw!

These types of movies are not too complicated, I have feeling she did come to her senses and started to date Boy and had a baby with him. Then her ex-lover Thanawat Wattanapoom came back after years of being away, which creates tension between Boy and Koy. And that is our movie conflict kids.

Or Koy does continue to wait and Thanawat does shows up again. They argue a little because she was resentful of him for having to wait all these years, but eventually he is able to win her over again like a magician with magic tricks. I’m just kidding with the magic tricks, the tone for this film is too INTENSE, sorry kids, no magicians or magic tricks for you. Maybe next time, if you’re good. Okay, back to the film, Thanawat and Koy are back together again and she becomes pregnant. But OH NO, he has cancer or some incurable illness. You can tell I watch way too many Korean dramas. The reason he was away all those years was to get treatment, when he thought he was cured he came back to Thailand. Near the end, he dies and Koy gives birth and Boy is there for her.

Either way, in both my made-up scenarios, like what Maury Povich says on his show–”Boy Pisanu, you are the father.” Biologically or not, it’s irrelevant. That is just my two cents on how the story will go.

The film was release nationwide in Thailand on December 23, 2009. It’s Thai title is ‘Ruk Tee Ror Koi (Love that waits)’. I prefer the literally English translated title better than ‘October Sonata,’ what does that even mean?

Koy Ratchawin in tears over her ‘break’ with Pae Arak

When I heard they broke up (correction  “break” or whatever they are calling it), I didn’t think too much of it. One, I don’t care. Two, I like them but not enough to care about their personal lives.

On the ‘Woody Gert Ma Kui (Woody: Born to Chat)’ TV show this past Sunday, actress “Koy” Ratchawin Wongviriya bluntly admitted to Woody that she is on a ‘break’ with her long time boyfriend “Pae” Arak Amornsuppasiri (Body #19, Slice) and doesn’t know if they will break up. Today, at Infinity Hall in Siam Paragon to promote her new sappy romantic drama “October Sonata”, Koy broke down in tears when discussing her  ‘break’ with Pae. They are on a ‘break’ not a break up, she said. No, a third party is not involve, it has to do with work. She admits to the ‘break’ but would like to keep the details private.

Then the topic that really started her tears–the media accused Koy of using the ‘break’ as a publicity stunt to promote her new movie to which Koy vehemently denies: “I have no need to use my personal feelings to promote…(stopped talking…tears start falling) I have no need to use my personal feelings to promote, so that people will go watch my movie.” (shaking)

Koy doesn’t know what the future holds for Pae and herself. “Right now, I’ll leave it up to the future. I think when it reaches that time, how it will turn out, I believe you will find out. If you want me to answer now, I can’t give you an answer because I don’t know right now. To me, it’s unclear. The most important thing right now is that we are still talking like usual, still being concern like always, we are still in contact, we are not left each others’ side,” said Koy.

Good grief. Another celebrity in tears over a break up. Just two weeks ago “Pei” Parnward Hemmanee broke down in tears in public over her break up with long time love ‘R’ the Star.Awhile back, Nok Utsanee drops tears in public for Vee Veeraparb after they broke up. Then that whole incident with “Tangmoe” Pattarathida  Patcharawirapong and her on again off again boyfriend Kong, she cried in public too after their break up. Is this a trend?

Come on Koy, don’t cry, it’s just Pae Arak.

20th annual TV POOL Party: ARMED FORCE STAR PARTY

I love the concept, I love how Bird Thongchai has a big grin on his face. The theme is commando, military, army, any time of armed force outfit. It’s fun and light; I like this party better than the Siamdara Star Party. Everyone seems happy and enjoying themselves. No force, no obligation. The event was held at the Army Club on Vibhavadi Road yesterday July 1. The event is a taping, it will air on Ch7 July 8th.

Ann Thongprasom and Pancake both won that night.

Mario Maurer has really nice skin

The amount of stress this kid is in, dealing with his lawsuit with former manager “Coco” Nirun Limsomwong, having a self-absorbed bottom-feeder girlfriend ‘Gubgib’ Sumontip Leuangthai and new manager “A” Supachai Sriwichit, and now facing another lawsuit, this time with Mono Films for breaking his contract for the movie “Roommate”; Mario backed out of the film even though Mono Films had already paid his fee of 200,000 baht ($5,867 USD). For a film, that’s all he gets? WOW, not a lot.

If I was Mario and had to deal with all the drama in his life, I wouldn’t look pretty. Stress and good skin, is something my body does not understand. Then again, I’m a worrywart and Mario Maurer seems like an airhead who is letting everyone drive his career. You should be cautious Mario, they might drive you off a cliff. If you think I’m being too harsh by calling him an airhead, you should read his Seventeen magazine interview at Nangdee, it’s so awesomely dull and one-dimensional.

When asked about his lawsuit at the Mc Jeans fashion show the other day, Mario said he knew nothing about the lawsuit, he calmly stated he is not startled because everything has a solution. He will talk with the elders and they will handle it. The contract was made when Mario was still working under “Coco” Nirun Limsomwong, he is now with “A” Supachai Sriwichit. The solution is simple, return the money. Now the problem, who has the money and will lie that he doesn’t have it. Ah…it does get tricky. No one wants to lose face.
