Some Thai netizens were pretty upset with Mario Maurer when he broke up with long time love, actress ‘Gubgib’ Sumontip Leuangthai. There anger didn’t stem from the break up–people break up every second, no big deal.  No, it was how Mario handled their break up with the media that bothered Thai netizens. By saying he never dated ‘Gubgib’ Sumontip Leuangthai and the were just ‘friends’, that statement ticked off many people. He was very ‘mai suphap burut (Not a gentleman)” and wasn’t a man for saying that.

Mario Maurer is aware of the criticism from Thai netizens, he thinks they need to relax and he does take their criticism seriously. “I want everyone to calm down, I do take it seriously when I receive criticism like this. I want you to watch me for a long time, when I counter various issues, I want encouragements too for myself and Gubgib. All of this is between the two of us, I don’t want anyone else to get upset over it. One day it might get better, but I don’t know what the future holds,’ said Mario.

Gubgib and Mario have been talking and seeing each other. Mario made it clear to the media he still sees Gubgib by this statement:”we still talk. I have never said we stopped talking or that we can’t see each other. Gib is my beloved friend to who I have known since I was a kid which makes us able to talk typically.”

Because of the criticism, the media wanted to know if Mario will be more cautious about what he says during interview. Mario said ‘ah’ no because he speaking the truth. “No not at all, I’m speaking the truth. I have said since the beginning. I have never introduced or accepted event gigs as her boyfriend.”

Mario did want to develop their relationship to something ‘more’ but it wasn’t the right time.

Oy! Again. Another celebrity throws out the ‘we were just friends’ card even though we all know they have been ‘dating’ for years. They always say, how can we break up when we were never boyfriend and girlfriend. Good golly. During his interview with the media recently, Mario keep throwing out the  ‘we were just friends’ card over and over again about this break up with this long time peuan sanit (close friend) ‘Gubgib’ Sumontip Leuangthai

“I have never said we were boyfriend and girlfriend, we have been close friends since school,” said Mario to the media.

Reporters were sneaky and asked Mario if they weren’t dating, why did Gubgib cry in her interview. Yea Mario, why did she? His response was kinda sketchy, he answered: “Probably many things, the pressure.”

Okay. I’m done.

Well we can’t say they have broken up, it will be more like they have ended their friendship because you know what, I don’t think Mario has ever referred to Gubgib as more than a peuan sanit (close friend) and today Gubgib, with tears in her eyes, did come out to say that their relationship which never developed to more than a friendship has ended. Dude, don’t tell me it was just a friendship, clearly it was more than that.

By the way, I have to make a correction, Gubgib and Mario has known each other for 7 years and have been ‘seeing’ each other for 4 years.

There has been some speculation before the break up that Mario was getting too cozy with his co-star Air Punthila from his upcoming Ch3 lakorn “Plerng Toranong (Proud Flame)”. Air has loudly denied it, she said, “How did this news come out!?! I have known Oh (Mario) and Gubgib for a long time now. There is nothing going on.” In their lakorn together, they do have ‘guk-gik (flirty)’ scenes together but Mario is like a younger brother to her. “It’s nothing like what they are saying, they are both like my younger siblings. I have always been very clear about this. If there is, I would say there is, but right now I’m single.”

To me the response from Thai netizens have been mixed, some are confuse, some have been supportive, some are glad because they have been waiting for this moment for a long time.

“What is this? The other day wasn’t there pictures of them going traveling together?”-this Thai netizen is referring to pictures of Mario and Gubgib at a Thailand airport coming back from a trip to Japan.

The pictures were posted at Gossipstar just a day or two before this news broke out. I think the pictures are a month old, I vaguely remember him talking about going to Japan and buying some nonsense goodies with Gubgib for the New Year or something.

There has been a lot of comments so I can’t get through them all. But this one comment from a Thai netizen got me laughing. There were comments stating that Gubgib is ug and someone came out to defend her by saying, “what? you’re saying ugly people can’t get (or can’t have) good looking boyfriends too.”–It is not word for word but close to it.

They are freaking ridiculous, they are just asking for attention.

My “Mario Maurer’s gf is just trashy” post is getting a lot of attention from Mario’s international fans. I have been getting  a lot of ‘hits’ from someone’s facebook account and google search engine on this topic. Yes, at that event, Mario’s peuan sanit (close friend) ‘Gubgib’ Sumontip Leuangthai was looking mighty trashy.

Nowadays, she has gotten better. I like her now after watching her in “Duang Jai Akkanee (Akkanee’s Heart)” chasing after Nadech Kugimiya’s character “Fai”. She was the ‘Fai ka, Fai ka” girl and she did a great job. Though playing the nang’rai (girl villain) role in that lakorn, she was still likable, you couldn’t help yourself from laughing at her pixie stick, lay off the sugar personality, her antics in that lakorn got you smiling.

Seeing more of her in lakorns and having a more subdued persona in public, she grows on you. She is becoming her own person besides just being Mario’s girlfriend.

At the beginning and through their 7 year relationship, the media loved to dog Gubgib, she was deemed unsuitable to be Mario Maurer’s girlfriend by the media.

People would talk smack on this poor girl, including myself. She was a gold-digger living off on Mario Maurer’s money, a fame-whore, a plastic surgeon nut, there were other things. Every year, a fortune teller would come out to say that by the end of this year, they would break up. Their break up was always pending. Through it all, Mario Maurer has been loyal, even defensive about Gubgib, especially at the beginning of their relationship. He would get so mad at the media when they ask him rude questions about Gubgib. He would say, ‘why would she do that, she wouldn’t do that.’ Over the years, he has gotten used to it.

A while back, I remember someone commenting at Manager news website on a news article about Gubgib and Mario’s relationship, the person praised Mario for being a loyal boyfriend. Let me see if I can fully recall what the person wrote, ‘no matter how much we curse at this girl, Mario is still loyal. The one thing you can say about Mario is that he is a loyal one-woman guy.’–not the exact wording but something like that.

Can you believe it, they started dating when they were 15, now they are 22 years old going on 23 this September (Gubgib) and December (Mario).
