Do grades matter?

They’re holding hands.

When someone is  making millions of baht per year from filming lakorns and advertisements, graduating with a 2.23 GPA, does it matter? Thai netizens don’t seem to think so. Good grades does not necessarily lead to big earnings after graduation.

Pancake has graduated from Kasetsart University with a degree in English. It took her five years. People are happy she graduated, heck it’s a miracle considering her crazy schedule, but her grade isn’t great.  If one is already successful does it matter what grade they earned? She will continue to be an actress, continue to make money off of being a brand ambassador to dozens of products, she owns a business, her family is pretty well off. Does it matter that her GPA is low? It’s not a predictor of her success.

Opinions from Thai netizens:

“GPA is not the answer, it depends on if  you can get the job and do the job well after graduating. I met those people, graduated with honors but couldn’t do the job well.”

“To the person who posted her grade, what are you doing this for? Some people who graduated with good grades don’t even have a job.”

“Grades and work is not the same thing, I have a friend who graduated with 3.5 GPA, she/he doesn’t make a lot, I graduated under a 3.0 GPA, I make 35,000 baht per month ($1,158 USD), just think about it.”

“Grades are not important, it depends if after graduation, you land a job. And if you success in your job. There is a lot of people with good grades who can’t do anything.”

Pancake’s peuan sanit (close friend) Pae Arak did not attend her graduation ceremony this past Saturday 7-9-11 because of scheduling, they did take pictures beforehand in her graduation cap and gown and he gave a small present. The picture above includes her mother, brother Putter, father, and younger sister Micky.

Stars who went out to take care of their civic duty

…by voting in the general election yesterday on July 3rd–an historic moment, giving Thailand its first female Prime Minister in Khun Yingluck Shinawatra, the youngest sister of the former ousted Prime Minister of Thailand, Thaksin Shinawatra. She is described as his clone, is that a good thing? There was a reason why he was ousted.

I shouldn’t talk, this is a entertainment blog. On with the pictures of celebrities who participated in the election…

Pancake will graduate next month

Actually she has already graduated. Next month, she is going to accept her degree in English from Kasetsart University. It took her five years to complete her schooling and I get the feeling Pancake is just relieved she passed. “It’s okay,” Pancake said, “because I have been juggling work and school, it’s been tiring. As for my GPA, I have no expectations, I have not even looked at my grade yet.” It must have not been good, probably just a passing grade. Considering her schedule, I would understand.

To celebration her graduation, Pancake plans to donate money for scholarships to 23 schools in Thailand.

Seeing Pancake and Weir together is so ODD

It feels really weird looking at them. Seeing her help him with his shirt, it is just straight up awkward, like nothing negative transpired between them. Pancake and Weir were seen together taking fitting pictures for their upcoming lakorn “Nang Fah Gub Mafia (The Angel and the Mafia)” at the Kantana’s  movie studio in Bangyai. By Kantana, that’s not good–they make horrible lakorns, poor plot, poor quality.

This lakorn is an action comedy about an undercover cop in the mob and a meddling air-hostess.

Weir about his character:

“The praek is from a rich family, but he has complex. He doesn’t like his stepmother, he thinks she killed his younger twin brother. In the story, I have a twin brother. He moves out, but luckily there is a guy looking out for him and he becomes a cop. He is assigned an undercover job in a mafia gang. Then he meets the nang’ek who is an air hostess. She’s has a g0-go personality, she causes havoc with all his assignments.”

Pancake described her character as reckless and always causing problems for her pra’ek, Weir’s character will find her annoying, but apparently they are force into marriage by his stepmother. “We do have to marry,” said Pancake. “We have to get marry because of a promise. The person who raised me was his stepmother, it’s like I have repay her kindness.” Oh.
