2nd Annual Nataraja Awards 2011

The Nataraja Awards 2011 just finished airing a few hours ago on Ch5. Everyone looked great, BEAUTIFUL. No one was lip-synching when they had to sing the nominated best lakorn songs. Singers from the Star franchise, KPN franchise, and selected AF kids were grouped together to sing the songs. It was a live performance that bedazzled me, it was like a mini concert with all these talented young Thai singers.  I was blown away.

The duet between Gam and Patcha for the song “Pler Ruk Mot Jai (Absent-minded Love)” from the lakorn “Dok Ruk Rim Tang (Roadside Love Flower)” was one of the highlights of the show.

Though the show was beautifully orchestrated, it was a little off , Ploy Chermarn was not there to accept her Best Actress award for the lakorn ‘Rabam Duang Dao (The Star Dance)’, Ken Theeradeth had to awkwardly accept the award on her behalf. Ken presented the nominees and named the winner Ploy Chermarn but she never came up. There was an odd pause where Ken stood to the side waiting for Ploy to come up. Then he realizes she is not coming, so he had to accept the award on her behalf with a chuckle.  There is a whole discussion about this at Pantip. The first annual Nataraja Awards was amazing–this year,  some complained it lacked ‘ dara spirit’ because some of the nominees did not attend. ‘Chai’ Chatayodom Hiranyatsathiti and Ploy Chermarn won but did  not attend. “Aff” Taksaorn Paksukcharean and “Aum” Patcharapa Chaichuea who were nominated in the Best Actress category did not attend, it was quite noticeable too. For the Best Supporting Actor award, only one nominee was present, Puri Hiranpruk. It was really off.

Ken accepting Ploy’s award starts around the 5:20 time mark.

Taddao Bussaya Ep2-4 preview

It’s almost Friday, a few more hours  and we get to see “Taddao Bussaya”. Oh yea!

Here are episode summaries for this week’s episodes. It’s a weekend lakorn, so we get to see 3 episodes in one week.

Ep 2 (February 19): Deun orders her ex-lover Chert to kill Taddao because she doesn’t want Taddao to get the house of Bussaya. Taddao barely escape the attempted murder with the help of her loyal servant Tiang. Taddao and Tiang hitch a ride with Bang, Jao Yod Kwan’s chauffeur to Bangkok.  Jao Yod Kwan is there too. At this point, Taddao has disguise herself as boy name Sutad.

On their wedding day, Jao Pattana learns that Taddao has run away. He becomes upset and marries Jitree, Taddao’s mother instead. His plan is to make her pay up the debt that he has paid for until he is satisfied. —I have to say, “Taddao Bussaya” the 2010 version is intense, everyone is so angry. They exaggerated the story a little.

Ep 3 (February 20): Jao Yod Kwan takes Bang, Tiang, Sutad (Taddao) to his grape farm/orchard, a place where he plans to establish himself.

At the farm, Sutad must work vigorously for Jao Yod Kwan, whether it be cutting grass or feeding the cows. Sutad has to prove herself to Jao Yod  because he can help her get into the Bussaya household, his best friend Witoon lives there.  Sutad worked so hard to impressed Jao Yod, she fell ill.  Jao Yod went to care for Sutad and was about to change her clothes but Tiang stopped him just in time. Tiang feared that he will learn their secret, that Sutad is a girl. Jao Yod was suspicious at her action.  As Jao Yod begins to be suspicious of them, Sutad begins to have feelings for Jao Yod.

Ep 4(February 21): Boot (Taddao’s grandmother) is tricked by Deun in signing away the Bussaya house to her. Soon after, Boot is hospitalized out of grievance of being tricked by her daughter-in-law. At this time, Jao Yod Kwan entrust Sutad with Deun as her servant at the house of Bussaya. Deun gives her the task of caring for Boot in her place. Sutad is very happy to care for her grandmother and is very compassionate towards her, which makes Deun not trust her. Deun misunderstood that Sutad was playing up to Boot for her money.

Deun tries to match up her daughter Tom with Jao Yod Kwan, her brother Witoon does not like the idea. When he voices his opinions on the matter, he is yelled at by his sister Duen.

Many of you have probably seen this teaser for episode 2, so now we know, he never got to finish changing her clothes. Darn!

Por and Punch at the closing party and mini concert for their lakorn “Taddao Bussaya” this past February 8 at Benjakitti Park. More pictures here and here.

A fun fact about Por and Punch, they’re actually older than they look. Punch looks like she can pass for a 16 year old, nope, home girl is almost 10 years old than that. Punch was born on September 5, 1984, she is currently 25 years old but is turning 26 this year. As for Por, he was born on January 23, 1978. You would think he was around his late or mid 20s, he’s 32 years old, older than Aum Atichart.

Another thing about this onscreen couple, their height difference is massive. He is almost a foot taller than her. Punch is 5’2 (158cm) and Por is 6′ (182cm). Standing next to each other, they are like a cute anime couple, where usually the guy is massively bigger and taller than the girl.

Por Thrisadee is following in the ways of Tik Jesadaporn

In that he likes to keep his mouth shut about his personal life.

After being sighted together, Por Thrisadee admits he has a girlfriend and they have been together for 5 years. Good gosh, where have you been hiding her?

Reporters wanted to know the identity of his girlfriend and asked whether he would disclose her identity,

He refused.

“You saw her (meaning you saw her in the pictures).  I have not done anything wrong. Lets wait until that time comes. I don’t know when that will be. There is no reason why I should tell anyone. It has nothing to do with anything.  Why should I reveal her? Also, she is not ready. To be together like this, we are happy. I don’t want to be like other people.  I don’t want this to be a focus.”

[winners from last year]

I really don’t understand the purpose of the “Star Entertainment Awards 2008″, we’re half way through 2009 and we’re still celebrating the films and lakorns of 2008? Well at least we’ll see stars in pretty suits and dresses, if they show up.

Anywho here are the nominees for the Star Entertainment Awards 2008…
