2nd Annual Nataraja Awards 2011

The Nataraja Awards 2011 just finished airing a few hours ago on Ch5. Everyone looked great, BEAUTIFUL. No one was lip-synching when they had to sing the nominated best lakorn songs. Singers from the Star franchise, KPN franchise, and selected AF kids were grouped together to sing the songs. It was a live performance that bedazzled me, it was like a mini concert with all these talented young Thai singers.  I was blown away.

The duet between Gam and Patcha for the song “Pler Ruk Mot Jai (Absent-minded Love)” from the lakorn “Dok Ruk Rim Tang (Roadside Love Flower)” was one of the highlights of the show.

Though the show was beautifully orchestrated, it was a little off , Ploy Chermarn was not there to accept her Best Actress award for the lakorn ‘Rabam Duang Dao (The Star Dance)’, Ken Theeradeth had to awkwardly accept the award on her behalf. Ken presented the nominees and named the winner Ploy Chermarn but she never came up. There was an odd pause where Ken stood to the side waiting for Ploy to come up. Then he realizes she is not coming, so he had to accept the award on her behalf with a chuckle.  There is a whole discussion about this at Pantip. The first annual Nataraja Awards was amazing–this year,  some complained it lacked ‘ dara spirit’ because some of the nominees did not attend. ‘Chai’ Chatayodom Hiranyatsathiti and Ploy Chermarn won but did  not attend. “Aff” Taksaorn Paksukcharean and “Aum” Patcharapa Chaichuea who were nominated in the Best Actress category did not attend, it was quite noticeable too. For the Best Supporting Actor award, only one nominee was present, Puri Hiranpruk. It was really off.

Ken accepting Ploy’s award starts around the 5:20 time mark.

Puri plans to marry Ann within 2 years

You better mister! Two year is a long time and I don’t want to hear those 3rd party rumors about you going to lunch with this gal and that. A couple that broke up and got back together in the midst of all these early 2011 breakups is Ann Alicia and her long-time love Puri Hiranpruk. I like them together, her bubbly pixie fairy personality and his calm manly personality suit well together. He’s a fraidy cat too, afraid of creepy crawlers, when he sees one, she pushes her towards it to ‘handle’ it. haha. Dude, you’re not manly.

Besides the occasional gik rumors, girl on the side rumors, I guess they are doing okay. This past Valentines, they went to Japan together. Hey, nice.

“This past Valentines, we went to Japan. It wasn’t really anything. We were with our friends. We didn’t plan anything at all. We walked past flowers, I brought her 3 stems. It was just that. She didn’t have anything prepared for me too and I didn’t have anything prepared for her, but I knew it was Valentines’s Day so I brought her flowers. I have to admit this is not typical for me, I usually don’t do this. I hate Valentine’s Day very much (laughs) because she hopes that I have something planned but I never do it. I would ask her what she wanted to do, go out to eat, she would answer she doesn’t, but I know she does.” This guy is so unromantic. If you know she does, then just take her out man. Oy, this guy.

In the past, Ann would sulk about it. This year it was okay, said Puri.

“In the past, she would sulk about it. This year, it was okay because we went aboard together. I give more importance to her birthday. Like I said, we are not a romantic (sweet) couple.”

Puri and Ann have been together for a long time, 5 years and they have talked about marriage. Puri said he plans to marry Ann within 2 years after he clears his debt.

“You have to look at the future reasonably, but we don’t have it set when we will marry. Living like this, we are happy. Once I completely clear my debt, we can slowly talk about our future. I’m thinking 2 years. With my business, there is an issue with our loan and I don’t want her to get involve in that. She’s not mad. I told her, if I have her wait long, 5 carats; six years 6 carats. Both our families are not in a rush to have us marry.”

Here is a clip of Ann telling the hosts of Tee Tra Krua how Puri is a fraidy cat back in January 2010 around the 6:30 time mark.

Ann Alicia and Puri are taking a break

“Ann” Alicia Laisuthruklai and her long time boyfriend of 5 years, actor Puri Hiranpruk are taking a break. It always starts off like this, huh? It starts off a break, then eventually, they never get back together.

Ann:”We are not breaking up, we are distancing ourselves, like what they call ‘Take a Break’. This year is our 5th year together. I feel like our relationship is mature. We have to talk about what we want in our lives. We are not dating like ja jaa, going to the movies. It’s not like that anymore. We are adults now. We have to sit down and discuss if our future plans are similar. For a guy, it is an important matter, I understand, so I asked him to think about, to see if he can take care of me. We are talking about it. The time apart will test if we will miss each other, to see if we want to be together or not. We have talked about it. It is a thought we have talked about. A relationship must grow. You can’t just date day by day.”

Ann was asked if marriage was the problem–Ann wanted to get married, Puri did not. “We both want to get married. But w both have to ask, okay, do we see our futures in the same way. When we  talked about it sincerely and fully, it was intense, but you have to talk about it. I wanted to know if we thought differently.”

The relationship is on a break because Ann wanted to have children, again, Puri did not yet.

“It’s true (wanting to have children); however, it doesn’t have to be at this moment. In the future, most definitely. I don’t want to be a girl who goes out hey haa-ing all the time. I want a family–have children.”

Ann has given Puri an ultimatum and reporters wondered if Puri asked for more time to think about it. He did not.

“He did not tell me. He did not ask (for more time). We are going to think about it.”

Ann is not angry at Puri at all. “I’m not angry, there is nothing. When my dog passed away yesterday, he called me and we talked, but nothing was resolved.”

The separation is a test for their relationship to see if they still want to be together.” We are no longer seeing each other, we want to try to see if we like this or do we like being together. Before we dated, he was known as a guy who enjoyed a good time. The 5 years we dated, there was nothing like that, but does he think about that life still?”

If Puri asked her for her hand in marriage, she would gladly accept it. “Yes, I’m ready for it,” said Ann.

If some girl tried to snatch up Puri while they are on break, Ann will consider it as proof for his sincerity towards her.

Ann does not fear the curse of the 5 year relationship mark. “I don’t fear it ka, I’m not concern about it, I’m not angry, and we have not broken up. It’s just a way for us to think about it.”

Clocks and more clocks.

‘Two desires’

Two desires, a common theme for lakorns.

“Song Pratthana (Two Desires)” is Paula Taylor and Pong Nawat’s first lakorn together and filming has begun since the 25th of this month. The lakorns stars Kem Rujira as the nang’rai, usually she plays nang’ek (leading lady) for Ch3. It’s not an official move to Ch5, it’s just one project. The supporting cast includes: Guy Ratchanon with “Pim” Pimmada Borriruksooppakorn and Puri Hiranpruk with Aerin Siripon.

It’s something different said Paula Taylor about “Two Desires”, she has never done something like this before.  Paula has been away from lakorns for 4 years, this series marks her return. The lakorn is a romantic drama and the actors described it as ‘intense’. All lakorns are intense.

Same patterns, different styling–Paula at the opening ceremony for her lakorn and Aum for Inside TV magazine

Aom and Art’s wedding reception

Ai! Both the bride and groom wore make-up, a thick layer too. Eeee…odd…I still like them. Aom and Art legally married  back in late August and was blessed by the Queen at her palace in Hua Hin along with four other couples. Because of scheduling, they held their wedding reception today at the Plaza Athenee hotel in Bangkok.

At their wedding press conference, the usual topics were discussed. Babies any time soon? Honeymoon any time soon?

For the honeymoon, nothing yet. They are both busy with work. Originally they wanted to go to Phuket for their honeymoon but a friend who was suppose to join them had to continue filming for “Ching Chang (Detest or Hate)”. I think she is referring to ‘Boy’ Takolkait Weerawan, a major executive of Exact productions or maybe Ann Alisa who is dating Puri Hiranpruk (Art’s cousin) and has a major role in “Ching Chang”.  Aom said she complained a little, Art put on a smile and corrected her, you complained a lot. Everyone laughed.

As for babies, not yet. Girl or boy? Art said he likes little girls. Hopefully she will be as beautiful as her mother, he continue to say. Aom wants a patriotic child. “When that person comes (meaning her child), I want him or her to be a good person and a good person for the country. A person who will love our country.”

Art is freaking hilarious. Apparently Aom talks a lot! This one time, he was watching TV and it was getting good, but she keep on talking. So he turned the TV off, the lights also, and went to bed. Since then, Aom realized she talks a lot and have tried to toned it down.

Aom will continue to work and will be a ‘plastic bag’ housewife for now. Because of her filming schedule and the fact that she can’t cook, she usually brings him ‘take out’, hence the ‘plastic bag’ reference.  Art said he doesn’t mind. When she is not around, he can eat anything. “When Aom is not around, I can eat anything whether it be pork, chicken, shrimp, because Aom does not eat pork, chicken, she doesn’t eat meat, and not even shrimp, ” said Art.

Check out the interview and pictures here.
