Taew and Art in “Songkran of Love”

Art Pasut and Taew Nataporn are coupled together for “Songkran of Love”, an afternoon holiday special  sponsored by the Thai Cultural Commisio, targeted to the youth of Thailand to show them the importance and meaning of the Songkran festival other than it being a fun water festival for the Thai New Year. This mini lakorn is slotted to air on April 13 at 3:10pm on Ch3.

Art in the lakorn is Pom, a college student, who wants to have a good time, he tells his friends Jack/Pat and Dao he wants to go somewhere during the Songkran holiday. Pat contacts his uncle  Wiwat from the provinces to see if they can go there to celebrate Songkran, his uncle agrees if the guys come before the Songkran festival and help the townspeople prepare for the celebration. Pat agrees. When they get there, Wiwat realizes that they are too into the fun of the Songkran festival to care about working. He decides to delegate the task of handling the guys to Nam (Taew), a beautiful straightforward girl with confidence and Wiwat’s niece.

When Art meets Nam, he is intrigue. His friend Jack notices  that and made a bet with him, if Pom is able to get with Nam, Jack will buy him 3 meals.  Just 3 free meals, you cheap, man. Pom agrees and starts to pursue Nam and finds it strange that her only means of transportation is a bike. She refuses to ride a car or any automobiles. One day, Pom needed to go somewhere and he wanted Nam to come along too. But Nam refuses. Not taking her refusal, he tried to force her into the car and she started to scream. He was startled and later learned that Nam has a phobia of cars. When she was young, she was in a car accident with her parents. The car flipped over, she survived, but her parents did not. Since then, she has always had a fear of driving, of being in a car for very long. Though she is a smart girl, her phobia has made her unable to leave the town. Pom apologized to Nam for not knowing about her phobia. Nam tells Pom that every year, during Songkran she would invite the monks over to her parents tomb (urn) and asked them to do the Suat Bangsukula ritual (the practice of giving robes or cloth (white, orange) to monks at a funeral. New robes are placed on a coffin and received by the monks who then chant and pour water for the deceased in order to transfer merit). She does this every year as a way to show her parents gratitude and to tell them not to be worried about her.

After learning about her tragic past, Pom pities Nam and likes her more. He no longer cares about the bet he has with Jack. He begins to do things for her, like cleaning her parents’ tomb area.  Kwan, some local guy who likes Nam sees him being nice and begins to feel jealous. He starts drama. When Pat learns that Kwan and Pom are fighting over Nam, he scolds Pom.  Pat accused Pom of not being sincere and Nam was only a bet to him. Pom should back off.  Just when Pat said that, Nam heard it. I’ll leave it at that. Don’t worry it has a happy ending and Pom will learn the meaning of Songkran. Tada.

Taew is living her life

Reading Thai news, translating Thai news can be really annoying when they keep repeating the same things over and over again. I think to myself, just let it go. If you make a mistake in Thailand or anywhere else in this world and you’re a celebrity, the media never lets it go. Of course for certain big things, they shouldn’t but for something so trivial as going to a concert with friends and drinking a little, I think we should move on, it’s not even amusing news. It’s rather dull to be honest with you. During the summer I believe August or September (don’t tell me), Taew was seen with her friends at a concert, enjoying herself and holding a beer bottle in one hand. There are pictures of it online. Since then, she has been criticized for not being prim and proper and upholding what a nang’ek should be in her private and her onscreen life. Thankfully, Taew is still living her life and says she did nothing wrong. You didn’t dear.

“There were news, there were picture, but that is when I went out with friends to a concert. It’s normal for young people to go out. People were disappointed that I was not proper. Perhaps being proper is not about image, it’s about behavior. I’m a responsible person, I don’t want people to judge it as something bad, being young, you have to spend your life as a young person a little (Smiles). At first it was serious, but I didn’t do anything wrong.”–She’s right.

People have been criticizing her heavily and some have been giving her support, she is looking it positively of the negative comments. “There are some who criticized me and there are others who give me support. People are giving me warnings so that I can be more cautious. People will warn another if they are not going good.”

Out of all the elders around her, her father is the most concern. “They (Ch3 elders) have not said anything, only my dad told me to be more aware, but he did not prohibit me. The truth is, I did nothing wrong because I don’t go every day but I should be more cautious. But I’m not going to think about it too much and give myself a headache.”–good for her.

A Divided Heart: EP 1 Caps Part 2

Look at Tawanchay’s face, she’s like great that fool who keeps staring at me coldly is here. EEEEeee! HAHA. Yea, he is kinda weird, he keeps staring at her–some guy staring at me rudely every time I see him, I wouldn’t like it either.

A Divided Heart: Ep 1 Caps Part 1

I like it a lot. A+, so far.

No overly exaggerated character, except that mother and daughter duo. Taew is just love without trying, she comes off very natural onscreen.

Taew’s Tawanchay is very similar to Pinky’s Bow

I’ve read the synopsis, I’ve seen the teasers, something about it doesn’t click with me. The plot line is very typical for lakorns–a man auctioning out his daughter because of debt. Taew Nataporn and Por Thrisadee’s lakorn “Hua Jai Song Park (A Divided Heart)” is something to be desired for now. Once I watch the first episode, then I will know if I like it or not.

It reminds me a lot of Pinky and Weir’s lakorn “Love Rotation or Revolving Hearts” for some reason. Though the plot line are different, the characters in the lakron are very similar. Like Weir in “Love Rotaton”, Por is playing the protective, loving pra’ek who has everything wealth, good looks but the nang’ek played by Taew misunderstands him to be cold and a man with evil intentions. Really, he is the only person who is looking out for her best interest.

Taew’s character Tawanchay is much like Pinky’s character Bow in that she is strong and a character who will not yield to no one. Taew described her character as a young woman who is studied aboard, who is stylish, confident, a good drinker, and a woman is not afraid to go out with guys at night–a big ‘no-no’ in the conservative Thai culture.Taew also said  her character is not afraid to kiss a guy on the cheeks. Oh no, kissing–another big ‘no-no’. It’s sounds a lot like Pinky’s character Bow minus the drinking and the kissing part. Like Bow, who was kept in the dark for the longest time that Thot (Weir) and Nee (Tarn Kanya) were siblings, I have a feeling Taew will not find out her father is in debt to Por’s character until half way through the lakorn.

And my gosh, doesn’t Pulpat Attapanyapol and Boy Pakorn look very similar? They could pass as brothers. It’s funny how their characters are very similar. Like Pulpat in “Love Rotation”, Boy Pakorn will be deeply in love with nang’ek and will even be engage to her,  but he is just not good enough for her because of his gambling issue. Pulpat wasn’t good enough for Pinky because he cheated on her with Nee and he was engage to her. Both men are selfish, kinda obsessive with the woman they love.

Everything is just all so very similar.

Maybe it will be good, from my experience, you can never judge a lakorn by the teaser or the synopsis, they are really poor indicators of a good lakorn. Plus, it’s a remake. Something must be good about it the first time around for people to want to do a remake. You can watch the teaser of the original here. Kob Suvanant’s hubby Brooke Danuporn was the pra’ek for the original back in 2000, 9 years ago.

“Hua Jai Song Park (A Divided Heart)” will role out this coming Thursday, December 24, 2009. You can read the translated synopsis at Wishbone’s page. You can check out pictures of the cast here.

Taew and Margie on the set of Ratree Samosorn

Taew Nataporn and Margie Rasri were on the set of Ratree Samosorn Variety show yesterday showing off their personal talents and talking about life and career. Margie showed off her Taekwondo skills which scared Num Gunchai who had to hold the Taekwondo kick and punch target. He was afraid of getting hit. Margie’s mother, Orasri Balenciaga also participated in the filming. The mother and daughter duo sang a song together.

Taew played the jakhay (a type of floor standing Thai traditional instrument) for everyone.

I don’t know when this will air, probably in 2-3 weeks.

Margie and Taew were both going for the bohemian look that day. Their heels look nice though it doesn’t go with their dresses. Taew’s bright blue oceanic heels stands out and doesn’t match her outfit. Margie’s mother has some nice dark brown heels and she is wearing black. It doesn’t really go together.
