From 10 million baht to 60 million baht

I bet you right now Tle Thanapol feels regretful about showing off his gaudy looking house on the “Wan Waan Yang Waan Yoo (Everyday you’re still sweet)” show back in mid-April. People became curious on how he was able to purchase such a big house with many cars considering his wages. There were speculations he had a rich girlfriend supporting him. At first he refuted those claims saying the house cost just 10 million baht, he brought it off a guy who was having financial problems, the house had been under construction for 5 years before he took over. To me that seemed legit considering the economy. Then, the younger sister of his supposed girlfriend revealed her sister brought the house and is supporting Tle, and you begin to wonder, ‘what just happened?’ It has become more of a mess than anyone could have imagined.

Today on Manager news website, it has been confirmed, the cost of Tle’s massive house is 60 million baht ($1.9 million USD). Tle said he brought it himself and he has proof and Thai netizens are like how did the cost of 10 million baht go to 60 million baht change so quickly within a week. I don’t know, guy? I just don’t know. People seemed perplexed.

Besides that, I love how on this blog and other Thai web portals, people are mocking his taste and saying his house is designed like a Ch7 lakorn house.

“60 million baht can only get you this? The design is like a Ch7 lakorn.”

“No matter how much money you have, it can’t buy taste.
Whose Likay throne is that?”–for those who don’t know, Likay is a type of musical play where the performers dress in elaborate bejeweled costumes and wear heavy make-up. It’s a very showy production, like Tle’s house.

Tle’s house is massive!

You have to wonder, does he really make that much, to have that big of a house. True, the majority of Tle Thanapol’s lakorns are hits, TV ratings gold hits, nearing the 20 TV ratings mark quite frequently. This is rare nowadays with competition from Korean Dramas, the internet, and the West. People don’t watch as much TV as they use to, at least that is what the numbers tell us.

This past Friday (4/15/11), the “Wan Waan Yang Waan Yoo (Everyday you’re still sweet)” show aired a taping of their show featuring celebrities and their families and we got to see Tle Thanapol with his dad, most importantly we got to see Tle Thanapol showing off his massively big house for all to see–it had a Lion marbled theme water fountain in the front, marbled statue pillars holding up an open garage. Seriously. Personally, I don’t like it. It’s too gaudy, it’s very old school gold and cheesy Egyptian theme patterns. It’s not my style.

The cost of the house is in 8 digit baht range. Translate that into US dollars, it’s roughly around $330,000 to $3.4 million.

At Sanook, Thai netizens wondered does he really make that much to afford this house. One person wrote: “he’s really rich, like you couldn’t believe he was rich.”

Another person give Tle a forewarning. “What of waste money. He made it too big, he went overboard. The various expenses to care for the house, to the cost of cleaning each room, upstairs and down, the carpet in each room, I feel tired for him. What if one day, you no longer have job in acting, what will you do? From what I can see, the house is not even done yet. You should have made it smaller, save your money, and invested in something would have been better. I’m commenting out of concern.”

Kwan and Tle reunites

So soon. Their lakorn ‘Hong Fah” did so well, audiences wanted them paired again ASAP, they got their wish. “Kwan” Usamanee Waitayanon and Tle Thanapol are in reuniting in “Plerng Phrom”, most likely a lakorn  about wealth and fighting over a guy. And look, their super nang’rai is played by “Cheer” Tikumporn Ritthapinan–gosh yowser, with all that make-up she looks like a tranny. E! Make-up people, lay off the foundation. You live in Thailand, their faces might melt off, now wouldn’t that be scary? The sight of it…ee!

Former Miss Teen Thailand 2002, Cheers feels excited about her first nang’rai role.

“I feel very excited that I’m going to be playing an extreme role like this. You will clearly know what type of character I am by my make-up, dress, behavior, and other various things. I have never thought I would be playing a role like this ever. It’s very different from who I am.”

Cheer has chosen to take on a nang’rai for the challenge–she won’t be ‘rai’ as commonly seen in lakorns. She will be more emotionally evil?

Kwan and her fake long nails, quite scary. More pictures here.

From unnoticable side actor to pra’ek

Tle Thanapol has come a long way. Still, he doesn’t feel like a star, he’s just another guy. He prefers it that way, he told Komchadluek newspaper during an interview.

Yes, as a kid, he was chubby. Last Friday (11/6/09), the cast of “Buang Rai Prai Ruk (The trap of evil is defeated by love)” appeared on the “Every day, you’re still sweet” variety show on Ch7 and they showed Tle’s chubby childhood picture. He was teased he said. As he got older, he decided to lose the weight. Girls don’t like chubby guys.

As I was going through his interview with Komchadleuk newspaper, I don’t think acting is his passion, it’s ‘work’ for him. The fame, the glamor, I honestly don’t think he cares.
