Willy and Yelly’s baby press conference made me cry

They are endearing, you want to root for them and hope they succeed. When they do, it warms your heart because they deserve it.

After 20+ times of using the Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer (ZIFT) process in a span of 4-5 years– the hormonal injections, the egg removal, putting the eggs back, and hoping they would conceive, it must be tiring to constantly fail, but they never quit.

No, Yelly never wanted to stop until she produced a child for her loving husband Willy McIntosh. She did it all for Willy.

He had accepted a long time ago, they might not be able to produce a child and encouraged her to stop. It is a physically and emotionally draining process.  But she refused to stop, as she explained on the Tonight Show hosted by Traipop Limbaphat because of his love for her.

“Willy loves me very much. I feel that he loves me very much and I know that he can be a good father. (She repeats it in English) He can be a very good father. Since we started dating, I have always seen him playing with children, I know that he wants to be a father. So I thought, he can do anything for me, I must be able to do anything for him. That means I can’t quit,” Yelly explained why she refused to quit even though they failed continuously. You can watch the clip here.

At their press conference introducing their first born Nong Win earlier today, Yelly and Willy wept as they thanked everyone (her fans) for their encouragement and support. Yelly started crying first as she thanked the doctors and nurses she saw for giving her support through the years. Soon after, Willy started weeping also and he was rubbing her back and asking her sweetly why she was crying. “Why are you crying, Stop.”

He then noticed her mascara: ‘hey hey you’re crying and wearing mascara?’

Yelly smiled and answered him:’Yes it’s all ruined now.’

The whole room roared with laughter and Willy added, ‘how did this happen? Crying and wearing a mascara. Didn’t you just give birth?’

Her mascara is running, he pointed out. She smiled laughed and asked him to help wipe out her mascara. Dutifully he did. Willy, being the funny man, joked that she lied to the press. ‘We told the press we were late because we were feeding our child, but oh ho, you were putting on make up too.’

She gave him a big smile and yelled:’no I was feeding our child too.’

They are so funny, earlier Yelly said that Willy totally forgot about her once the baby was born. “He’s very crazy about the baby, after he got his child, he completely abandoned the mommy. There was nothing at all. He got his first child and only followed his first child. He didn’t even come and thank me. There was only–I’m going with my child, Bye.’

Willy smiled and explained he was just ‘EXCITED’. Dude is so funny.

The birthing experience left an impression on Willy that women are stronger than men and it made him love his wife more.

‘I have only seen this in lakorns, when you get marry and deliver your child, you have to boil  water. I don’t know why you have to boil water, but once I saw the real delivery–the surgery, the massive blood loss, the pain–still, you had to go pump milk for your child which require you to eat and rest. If this was me, I couldn’t do it. Thus I have to say, women are stronger than men. Once I saw this, I loved my wife more. Whatever she wants I have to give it to her.”

Immediately, Yelly answered him, she wants another child, a girl this time. Willy agrees, they will work on having another child once their first born is weaned, probably 5 months from now.

Yelly and Willy spent how much to conceive?

“More than 5 million baht ($163,270 USD) but not more than 10 million  baht ($327,000 USD) krap,” Willy told reporters at an event for Sahamongkol films.

“You can say all of my friends in my group can buy a Porsche but I can’t because I invested all my money to my child. I do feel regretful about it because I miss shoot often. This time it was worth it because we able to conceive. Personally, I don’t even dare to ask what gender I want.  Whatever gender is fine. I just want him/her to come out now, at this time, because I want to see my child’s face already.”

–Oh my gosh, this poor man. He doesn’t even dare to ask for a girl or a boy. He just wants a child.  Weeping willow, I think I’m gonna cry. This poor couple, they have everything–money, fame, respect from their community, but the one thing they wanted, a child, was a struggle.

They conceived using IVF (In vitro fertilization), they tried 21 times. I repeat 21 times.

Yelly is 3 months pregnant

Willy McIntosh and his wife Yelly Geraldine Ricondell have been married since 2006 and they have been trying to conceive ever since. Back in 2007, they conceived using the Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer (ZIFT) process, but lost their twins by miscarriage and the other twin set was born prematurely.

Now after 5 difficult years of trying, with the help of an infertility treatment, Yelly is 3 months pregnant.

Congratulations to the proud parents to be. May their child or children come into this world safely.
